I liked it more when JP2 was in instead of emperor palpitine of the nazis. JP2 didn't bitch about everything and actually made things better.
And he wasn't as scary looking. :ohdear:
What does the vatican know.

That's quite odd considering how many pro-religious messages there were in there, especially where he prays for all of the animals to help them, and then they do.

What? It's not thousands, it's closer to tens.
It's true though, on purely Darwinian terms we are not doing too hot. More and more inferior genes are being passed on as generations go, but in a couple hundred years we will very likely have the technology to correct all genetic deformities, cure most diseases, etc. :science: > Evolution

And you don't see anything wrong with manipulating genes in a species that has a penchant for claims of racial, sexual and ethnic superiority.
The moment that becomes possible is the moment that homosexuality and minority races are no longer treated as human traits and are henceforth treated like diseases.
It was a masterpiece though. That and they weren't pissed about the visual appeal, but the fact the Na'vi Characters worshiped nature rather than a zombie. I'd believe in the biological connection to nature over Christianity any day; Because at least it makes more sense.
Pfft. District 9 looked just as good, better, IMO, for much less money and a better movie.
Its A movie about tree hugging blue aliens and evil humans, why is there so damn much to knit-pick?
Since when did the Vatican have a say in things like movies?
Since when did the Vatican have a say in things like movies?
Since The Passion.
Wait... the Vatican does movie reviews???
Wait... the Vatican does movie reviews???
Yeah the Pope puts them up on his blog all the time.
They're right. cool effects and all, but the story was too shallow.
guy investigates another group
guy likes that group
guy joins that group and turns against his first group
the end.
I was pretty bored while watching it.
And you don't see anything wrong with manipulating genes in a species that has a penchant for claims of racial, sexual and ethnic superiority.
Any time we develop new technology it eventually gets used for the wrong purpose. That doesn't mean we should stop the advancement of science.

I don't believe that you have the ability to see the future, sir. :wotwot:
But seriously, we will just have to cross that bridge when we come to it. I think in a hundred years we will embrace homosexuality, and maybe even people of other races.

Nikola Tesla's work would have been abused to hell, then, if he left any complete schematics.
We still can't copy all the stuff he's done.
They're just upset it doesn't have a scene where Jake molests all the Na'Vi boys in the back of a church.
it was a pretty shitty movie
It wasn't shitty but it wasn't good either. It was eye candy, nothing more.

Neo-fucking-paganism?
Paganism is based in beliefs that seem to be far more benign and make far more sense to spirituality than monotheism ever did.
Yes, but he's the Pope

In "purely Darwinian terms" we are doing GREAT. There are 6.6 billion people on earth and the number is growing.

Population growth isn't a good thing in my opinion.

Yes, but look at the increasing number of children born with deformities and diseases. If we were like most other species, they likely wouldn't survive very long on their own and the ones that do would have almost no chance of mating.
Of course, our achievements in science and technology are insuring that we will probably never die out because of genetic anomalies, so I suppose you are right.
They call the movie a simplistic and sappy tale, despite its awe-inspiring special effects.
For once, I agree with an organized religion.
Population growth isn't a good thing in my opinion.
Nobody cares about your opinion. In pure Darwinism population growth is paramount to the success of a species.
Population growth isn't a good thing in my opinion.
Your opinion is incorrect.
Ahahahahahaha.
Since when is the Vatican a legitimate movie critic?
They call the movie a simplistic and sappy tale, despite its awe-inspiring special effects because it is.
The Vatican newspaper and radio station are criticizing James Cameron's 3-D blockbuster for flirting with the idea that worship of nature can replace religion because it should.
Also why does anyone still care what the Vatican says, do Catholics even care about them anymore?
though I disagree with their reasons, I agree with their review. The only things I think I really liked about the movie were the space ship and the fact that a character in the movie smokes and isn't a bad guy.
The Vatican is just mad because they have a better story then Avatar.
