What in the world are you going on about? That is something you said. I haven't said a single homophobic thing??? What is your problem? Is it because I used an adjective to clarify that the pornography was gay pornography? Then you're clearly the homophobic here since you believ gay to be a pejorative. I'm gay and I still find these stamps distasteful for a variety of reasons which I have explained throughout the thread, because the issue isn't them being about homos, the issue is about them being pornography (or at least, in honor of someone who drew pornography, which is meaningless and only appeals to the lowest common denominator, and certainly doesn't deserve a stamp.)
The dude's stuff isn't art, it's pornography. And don't give me the BUT IT'S JUST A BUTT argument. If it is in "honor of the artist" then it's in honor of a guy who's drawn loads and loads of gay porn.
Even without trying to argue if something is pornographic or isn't, can you remind me how does exactly pornographic nature disqualify something from being art?
We should be ashamed because it is shameful. Sex is just body fluids and genitals bumping each other all over the place. Might as well have stamps featuring people defecating. It's natural and it's part of ourselves!
sure? who gives a shit, why should I be ashamed of my naked body or anyone elses? Why should anyone be ashamed of the nature of being human?
Why should I be as uptight as you are?
I think this is awesome and I want some

Yeah they should have used this one instead.
I feel like this is what people think of when they talk about the gay agenda.
There's a difference with naked bodies in paintings and men about to get it on.
It's all in your head.

*Stamp pictures*

Oops no you are full of shit, there was tons of stamps with nude women before
Except most of these are very old pieces, with often very lowly detailed depictions of nudity. This however is a modern piece in very high detail and shows nothing but two people in erotic poses.
Hell, most of the stamps you're showing here aren't even erotic in nature.
Edit: Also, people who aren't gay don't like being confronted by erotic gay pictures. what a shocker.
It is only naughty and dirty smut if you think it as one.
I feel like this is what people think of when they talk about the gay agenda.
I disagree, I see that as a heterosexual intercourse. It's "Mother Earth", after all.
There is also a petition to not make these stamps self-adhesive.

Are you for real? Either you've had a seriously sheltered upbringing or you're just making a poor attempt at hiding your homohpobia
Yeah except that's art, not pornography and you're not going to convince me the guy's stuff isn't just smut
you're basically drawing the line at "naked women is art, naked men is not art" and it's not making much sense tbh
[editline]23rd April 2014[/editline]
so essentially your argument is based entirely on "because i said so"

yo if this is what you think sex is you have problems and you need to see someone
the whole reason we've evolved to have complex brains (which allow us to use language and make houses and computers and thus have this discussion) is to increase our chances of survival and reproduction, so really, sex is pretty much the best answer to what the meaning of life is

But the parts on the stamps aren't even nude aside of the guy's tits and that's considered completely acceptable in public???
I don't think I want to lick these stamps.

How is drawn pornography not art? This guy very clearly had talent. Yeah, it is in honor of him and he did draw loads erotic shit. But none of those stamps are pornography. It's a naked dude, another dude, and a butt. None of that is pornography. You can't even see genitals. You say that they're "about to get it on" but it really doesn't even seem to imply that. It's just two dudes (one of which happens to be naked) looking like the average "sexy guy". In the butt picture it's just a butt and a face. It's not a face sucking a dick, or a butt with a penis dangling. It's just a butt with a floating head near it.
This guy was more than just a guy who drew gay porn, he was a homosexual symbol. Would you rather just have a picture of his face, or just go for what he was known for, drawing buff dudes. I don't even know what this guy looks like, so I wouldn't be able to tell that it was him if his face was on a stamp.
talking to people involves flailing a big saliva-covered muscle that resides in your food hole, is that shameful too

Only in SH would someone look at classical art depicting the female form, then compare it to a mustachioed, cigarette-smoking leather-clad man straddling a restrained nude man with his head buried in leather-man's crotch and say 'yup, that's equivalent'.
I guess by that logic Michelangelo's David is indistinguishable from Smell The Glove, right?

I disagree with this entirely.
Sex doesn't have to be anyone's priority as much as right of the stronger doesn't apply anymore. Society replaced the right of the stronger with laws, legal ownership, currency. You can decide on what your life means. You aren't bound by the fact that life tries desperately to multiply; you don't have to follow the custom.

i'm not at all saying that sex should be everyone's top priority, but to pretend it doesn't happen or try to hide it is basically denying what we are
it's just a thing that people do

So, please, enlighten me, what makes the fundamental difference between what's acceptable and what's not?
[editline]23rd April 2014[/editline]
Does smut age like cheese? Does it become culturally acceptable because it was drawn back when people didn't shower regularly, or back before people actually admitted what are they drawing the stuff for?
sure? who gives a shit, why should I be ashamed of my naked body or anyone elses? Why should anyone be ashamed of the nature of being human?
Why should I be as uptight as you are?
Why should I have to put up with your self-proclaimed liberation? Why must I be bombarded with indecency on every letter I send or receive, simply because you have declared yourself above us? If you want smut, you can find it online. I don't see why I should have to put up with what ought to be private, thank you very much.
I sure hope Shadman's genius will be revered in galleries all over the world few centuries from here.

You know they sell more kinds of stamps at once, right? You can usually choose from several of the same value.
[editline]23rd April 2014[/editline]
So I will go ahead and call you a prudent whiner because you obviously don't actually send letters.
where goes the line between art, erotic art and smut? who gives a fuck i dont feel strongly about this either way.

dude it's 3 stamps I doubt you're going to be getting it all that often, especially if you live in UK like flagdog says. it's not that big of a deal

People like to pretend that nudity back then served a different purpose than nudity today but it's just hilarious snobby bullshit.
People drew tits because they or other people wanted to see tits. It's just that some people stopped pretending since then because it's acceptable now to admit that you adhere to normal natural reactions and aren't afraid of being smitten by angry antitit god or something.

It was more because the human body wasn't really taboo in some periods for some cultures, most people just openly accepted it.
people here obviously don't care that these stamps are "pornographic" so I don't see the big issue
all these reactions are pretty funny
