It seems to me that a good and happy society depends on humanity striving to some transcendent goal, whether that goal be truth, or decency, or courage, or anything else. I see the destroying of the idea of decency as human's slow decent back towards the barbarism that was so prevalent in ancient times.
It isn't a coincidence that the same societies that has no barriers of public decency also had a multitude of other things that we would consider unacceptable. Nothing happens without effecting a great deal of other things. Making human sexuality to be nothing more than animal sexuality is just one more step in the process of making humans out to be nothing more than animals. This logically leads to things like a lack of care for human life.
humans are animals though.
the main difference between us and other animals are our brains, but there are plenty of animals with other qualities that we do not possess.
also why are you essentially equating sexuality with treating people like shit? not being ashamed of sex or our bodies does not automatically mean we have to murder each other with sticks
6 pages of butthurt over a fucking stamp.
Finland shoots, Finland scores. 6-1 and the match is over, and Finland takes gold.
Den glider in! [sp]You know what goes where[/sp]
I think the people arguing against in this thread have misunderstood what the opposite side actually thinks and is arguing for/against (I just read the whole goddamn thread).
HumanAbyss, Explosions & co isn't arguing for public gay s/m sex in the streets or that sexuality doesn't have an effect on anyone, but merely that the stamps really aren't that much more sexual compared to a lot of other things that people have (and have had) no issue with whatsoever in the past and present, and getting upset about it is both silly and stupid - Wether the motive is homophobia or just being more sensetive than most. I personally can't think of anyone who would get offended or angry because of these stamps, not even my elder very religious grandmother would think it's anything but mildly amusing.
It's not like there isn't other stamps to choose from - and tough luck if you get a letter that happens to have one of these stamps (which is unlikely in the first place unless you're from or know people in Finland). Get the fuck over it.

[sp]Torilla tavataan[/sp]
They chose rather interesting designs for the stamps. Let's see if they'll switch the rump stamp to something more 'appropriate' because of people boiling a ruckus about it.

Doesn't get better than the Ilta-Sanomat forum.
That shit literally gives you cancer.
Reading this thread gives you a slight brain hemorrhage.
I don't have a problem with the stamps. It's good art and it's culturally relevant as it was the product of a world-renowned artist and activist of the 20th century.
any finns want to mail me a letter with the buttstamp
I wonder how long it'd take RT to accuse us of supporting anti-Russian terrorism if we used these exclusively for letters sent to Russia :v:
