Let's be fair though, it's Ireland Their Minister of the Environment is climate denier and their Minister of Science just hosted the launch party of a creationist book
ireland isn't so cool anymore [editline]08:29PM[/editline]
Exactly. You can overpay on your taxes as well. Why force more taxes on the other 1/3 if the 2/3 that wants to pay more has the option to already.
because a democracy is 51% telling 49% how to live their life. not that it should be that way.
Ireland is cool.
but they have higher taxes to pay for it so
in a perfect capitalist world everyone gets taxed the same percent
In my perfect world, nobody pays taxes. Does that make me delusional?
Let's be fair though, it's Ireland
Most of Europe have free university options, and college - college is free in Britain per example. University is also free in Scotland too.
but they have higher taxes to pay for it so
so? id be happy with paying higher taxes if it went to something i wanted and if everyone was equally taxed
because a democracy is 51% telling 49% how to live their life. not that it should be that way.
That's why we're a republic or are supposed to be anyway
In my perfect world, nobody pays taxes. Does that make me delusional?
that's what everyone wants. too bad it is pretty much impossible.
think about it this way: Poor Jose the gardener who makes $25,000 a year working 40 hours a week probably spends $25,000 a year to stay alive. Now some bank manager guy who probably works 10 hours a week moving money around makes $1 million a year. He probably spends $50,000 of that. See why richer people should pay a higher percentage in tax now?
The guy who does our lawn is a Mexican immigrant (legal) who said he made 300,000 dollars last year. That's more than twice what my dad makes working a Government job in the US Embassy, Kabul with danger pay. :saddowns: He started small with a truck and a lawn mower. Then saved his money and bought more tools to increase work, then got some guys to work for him, and so on and so forth. Now he has a fleet of guys working for him and he still does about 40 lawns a day. I guess you could say he's living "the American dream". He also says he's fine doing the jobs that Americans won't do.
That's why we're a republic or are supposed to be anyway
we're supposed to be a lot of things
He also says he's fine doing the jobs that Americans won't do.
Even though he is American
Even though he is American
he's a Mexican immigrant. Mexican
I love how this thread has turned into a debate about capitalism vs socialism, but in the end none of your ideals or logic matter, because the majority decides not you.
he's a Mexican immigrant. Mexican
legal, so he's a citizen of America, so he's American [editline]10:35PM[/editline]
I love how this thread has turned into a debate about capitalism vs socialism, but in the end none of your ideals or logic matter, because the majority decides not you.
I'm having an existential crisis now and will cut myself.
so? id be happy with paying higher taxes if it went to something i wanted and if everyone was equally taxed
Wait a minute did you just go from advocating a flat tax to advocating higher taxes for free public universities Who are you man :pwn:
By 'suck ass' I mean if they don't have any talent or skills that are needed by the market
That talent and skill is required by getting a degree. A degree that will put them in debt and if they are unable to get a job in this unstable economy, they're fucked.
legal, so he's a citizen of America, so he's American
he could have a green card. and there is a difference between being a British citizen and being British or what have you.
and there is a difference between being a British citizen and being British or what have you.
That's why I'm voting BNP!
Wait a minute did you just go from advocating a flat tax to advocating higher taxes for free public universities Who are you man :pwn:
im advocating a flat tax. im also advocating that flat tax being a little higher if it was to make universities free.
im advocating a flat tax. im also advocating that flat tax being a little higher if it was to make universities free.
Do you know about diminishing marginal returns?
That talent and skill is required by getting a degree. A degree that will put them in debt and if they are unable to get a job in this unstable economy, they're fucked.
Which is why there are government programs to help people in those positions. :downs:
What we should do is introduce a flat tax system.
I can not begin to describe just how dumb a flat tax system is.
he could have a green card.
oh, yeah I guess, I didn't think of that
That's why I'm voting BNP! [img_thumb]http://www.independent.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00141/bnp-PA_141028s.jpg[/img_thumb]
I'm not British nor a British citizen so i don't really know much about your political parties. i take it the bnp isn't well liked
Which is why there are government programs to help people in those positions. :downs:
These programs are extremely limited and generally only help people for a short period, by law. They are not a panacea for unemployment.
Which is why there are government programs to help people in those positions. :downs:
paid for by taxes
That is fucking retarded. I can not begin to describe just how dumb a flat tax system is.
you could at least try to give a reason.
Which is why there are government programs to help people in those positions. :downs:
The government doesn't help everybody. Did you read the story Detective P (or whatever his name is) posted on page 1?
I'm not British nor a British citizen so i don't really know much about your political parties. i take it the bnp isn't well liked
I'm not british either, I was just kiddin [editline]04:41AM[/editline]
you could at least try to give a reason.
I gave a reason but you didn't answer :(
