Also that Christianity in those days pushed technology, science and art so far back that humanity actually REGRESSED. Not every Christian subset chooses to interpret the Bible the same way, or emphasize the same teachings. The same goes for Islam. FWIW most Christians I know put a lot more stock in Santa and the Easter Bunny than anything written in their Bible.
