Wait. So they're making plain-jane normal ass boring humans that don't even make sense in the current era a fucking collector's thing? Are you shitting me? They couldn't even spring for something like Dremora or Xivilai, anything else?
Maybe if they allowed any race in any alliance I would've given it a go. Part of the Elder Scrolls fun is choosing your own path. You ask for 2-4 player co-op in Elder Scrolls, they give you an MMO. Not a wise choice.
8 player diablo style games would be amazing. Then again I just want a diablo 2 sequel.
Gonna tell you my little secret: I now call TESO as TESOtanic.
that doesn't even work now atlanTES is pretty clever
that doesn't even work now atlanTES is pretty clever
Actually that's pretty damn clever.
that doesn't even work now atlanTES is pretty clever
[t]http://i.imgur.com/fnSxgfZ.jpg[/t] Made this ages ago. Never thought I'd have another use for it.
So is the imperial a race or a class? If it's just aesthetic I don't really see why people get upset, especially if the class is still available for all players in its regular faction.
Imperials are (or at least they always have been) a race. While it may seem confusing how a race called 'Imperials' can be around if there's no Empire, and where the fuck are they coming from and shit, as I understand it Imperial is a given name that came about with the Empire. Before this, or just almost never called this, or whatever, they're known as Cyrodillics, Cyrodiils, or Cyro-Nordics. Their status as primarily a race makes it really unlikely they'll just be a class. I'm not an expert on TES lore, but that's how I understand it.
Oh boy I've always wanted a statue of the king of rape.
TES is a franchise in which stories exist where Vivec gave Molag Bal oral, resulting in all the daedra proceeding to engage in an all-out gay orgy. He then learned he got the clap from Molag Bal, bit Molag Bal's cock off, fashioned it into a spear, and used it to murder everyone. I doubt the TESO writers even know about that. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:36_Lessons_of_Vivec,_Sermon_14 Also, when Vivec was put on trial for breaking time and Azura was brought in to arbitrate, he face-fucked her until she was banished from Mundus via him making her explode. Some of the best lore in fiction.
that doesn't even work now atlanTES is pretty clever
The big four on /v/ are: atlanTES TESuvius TESaster and Scrollocaust The last one isn't actually comparing TESO to the Holocaust, btw. It's intended to be a tonuge-in-cheek comparison of Zenimax's historical revisionism to that of an authoritarian regime. The pun doesn't fit perfectly but it was the best they could come up with.
So at first they were like "Ok guys, you'll have to pay 60€ plus 15€ per month but you'll get everything. There won't be micro-transactions." (Which honestly is the least you can expect for that price.) Then they announce micro-transactions. And now if you really want everything you'll have to buy a super expensive collector edition (though it will probably be sold as an "Imperial Upgrade" DLC for 10€). How can a game be so expensive?

Keeping stuff like mounts or pets for the collector's edition, that's fine. Hell, even small XP boost items I'm okay with. But when you're keeping an entire race locked away for the collector's edition, you're crossing a certain line of dickbaggery.
Dat statue of Molag Bal tho'.
GIVE FALLOUT 4
And so it begins. $60 isn't enough, $15/mo also isn't enough, so now they're going to set aside content (That comes with the game, since it wouldn't work if it didn't) to entice people to spend yet a bit more. This is going down a really disastrous path I can see physical items in a special edition, but a whole race? In an Elder Scrolls game? The hell is that
The first red flag is the title. 'The Elder Scrolls: Online'. It's just meta and shit. World of Warcraft had the perfect, epic name to become a bestseller and last years. It wasn't pretentious, it was great. If WoW were called Warcraft: Online, it would have been a different story altogether. I couldn't see a game with that title accumulating a significant fan-base. All of these Suffix: Online games just turn out shitty. There's dozens of examples over the years. If they wanted to make a good TES Multiplayer, they should have made it as part the next major Elder Scrolls release. You know, spent 6 years on it, made it fucking incredible and flawless in whole new ways, gave you a whole new world to explore (probably away from cyrodiil) and done loads of other unique never-seen-before stuff and then made a decent multiplayer component, maybe even with huge online battles, ability to make guilds (but with singleplayer/small parties still being the main aspect). And for the love of god, they should have moved away from that title at all costs.

*sigh* of all the projects that could have made bethesda money, they chose the one that would forever ruin a franchise and flop harder than anything that came before it... bethesda would surely have benefitted from a new, innovative project, rather than idiotically entering a market that is already dominated by popular games, that have no comparable susbtitutes... i feel bad for bethesda... but they'll bounce back from this, and make an innovative, futuristic open world game in a few years that a legion of 12 year olds will ruin by making memes about it and finding exploits to end up at really high levels... Bethesda, I'll see you in three years, after you come out of hiding... :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide:

:pwn: :zoid: :zoid: ^Bethesda ^The Internet
Well this is a bit disappointing. I seriously hope this is one of their terrible ideas that got scrapped because I was just warming up to TESO a bit after the beta. To all the people going "make fallout 4" and "waste of bethesda time" keep in mind that this is not bethesda making this game. Bethesda is probably off working on the elder scrolls vi:the kha'jiting or fallout 4 or something
To be fair, although this is kind of nonsense, it all makes sense from a lore perspective. At the point in time that TES:O is taking place the Imperials are more or less just starting out, and more importantly they're indirectly allied with Molag Bal, the major antagonist of the entire game. (Specifically, they're allied with a Necromancer who worships Molag Bal) The Imperials as such really shouldn't be playable, and from a design point of view.. three races (9 total) per alliance is neat and pretty and balanced. That said, it does stand to reason that a few would have defected to a different Alliance here and there, hence the limited edition offer.. Again, purely from a lore perspective this makes sense, not actually defending the practice of this business model though.. Would have been nicer to have just left it alone and sprinkled some Imperial NPC's between the factions. If it helps alleviate anyone's rage though, it's not like the Imperial's are terribly unique. The Breton, the Nord, and the Redguard are already playable in TES:O and all three of them are basically just Humans too. The only REAL nice thing about this is that it would let you join the Aldmeri Dominion with a Human rather than an Elf or Beast race. Otherwise you're not missing out on anything.
You have to pay extra to play as the white people
Everyone should just throw money at it until it becomes something good.
You have to pay extra to play as the white people
That's the nords. Imperials are tan because apparently they were supposed to live in a tropical place in the middle of the continent, but magic said no.
Now you can pay extra to break the lore EVEN MORE!
I want this just for the Artbook and Statue.

this game looks generic as fuck.
isn't the imperial race a staple in pretty much every elder scrolls game? why would they make this exclusive?
