The Elder Scrolls Online offers exclusive playable race in apparently leaked TESO: Imperial Edition
TES is a franchise in which stories exist where Vivec gave Molag Bal oral, resulting in all the daedra proceeding to engage in an all-out gay orgy. He then learned he got the clap from Molag Bal, bit Molag Bal's cock off, fashioned it into a spear, and used it to murder everyone.
I doubt the TESO writers even know about that.

Also, when Vivec was put on trial for breaking time and Azura was brought in to arbitrate, he face-fucked her until she was banished from Mundus via him making her explode.
Some of the best lore in fiction.
A bit late, but to be fair many real-world religions have just as strange and nonsensical of lore. If I remember right, plenty of gods from ancient Japanese culture were pretty much one god's bodily fluids given life.
The first red flag is the title. 'The Elder Scrolls: Online'.
It's just meta and shit. World of Warcraft had the perfect, epic name to become a bestseller and last years. It wasn't pretentious, it was great.
If WoW were called Warcraft: Online, it would have been a different story altogether. I couldn't see a game with that title accumulating a significant fan-base.
All of these Suffix: Online games just turn out shitty. There's dozens of examples over the years.
If they wanted to make a good TES Multiplayer, they should have made it as part the next major Elder Scrolls release.
You know, spent 6 years on it, made it fucking incredible and flawless in whole new ways, gave you a whole new world to explore (probably away from cyrodiil) and done loads of other unique never-seen-before stuff and then made a decent multiplayer component, maybe even with huge online battles, ability to make guilds (but with singleplayer/small parties still being the main aspect).
And for the love of god, they should have moved away from that title at all costs.
Elder Scrolls Online has been in development for 6-7 years.
isn't the imperial race a staple in pretty much every elder scrolls game? why would they make this exclusive?
The fact that they even decided to make a race exclusive to the CE is disgusting alone.

Actually they weren't in the games before Morrowind, and by existing lore (which tes online gives no shits about) shouldn't even exist in the timeframe of the mmo.
I might get this game, I do not know though. I played in the beta and I enjoyed it, but I will probably just get bored of it after a few weeks. It probably will go free to play so I might just wait for that.

Made this ages ago. Never thought I'd have another use for it.
But that implies that we'll feel bad for TESO when it sinks.
Maybe if they allowed any race in any alliance I would've given it a go. Part of the Elder Scrolls fun is choosing your own path.
You can. If you pre-order.

Which is really fucking dumb.
what the fuck is that lizard thing in that screen, I've never seen something that retarded looking in TES.
Looks like some kind of Morrowind creature, like the Alits and Kagouti.

Only hilariously derpy looking.
Only hilariously derpy looking.
To be fair, Alits look "derpy" as shit.
Meanwhile, while i'm waiting for this to flop, i'm over here waiting for the next mainline TES game to be Blackmarsh because fuckyeah swamp stealth lizards.

Agreed on the title.
Personally I think they should of made a flawless epic game like you said, and made it originally begin only in the province of Cyrodil. Then they would have all the other provinces to add in as expansion packs or whatever too, but making sure to fashion each of them with great detail and design etc.
The Elders Scrolls world has so much potential on a massive scale, it really does. Just like how its being here with TESO.. it's a cheap copout to make some quick cash just based off their popular franchise name..
So yeah. I said in the OP that I was unsure if it was legit, and I just want to confirm that everything is legit. Order the Imperial Edition to play as Imperials (exclusive race) on any faction. Pre-order any version to play as any other race on any faction.

Not a Sheogorath statue 0/10
I'm in the beta and my opinion is that the game is shit. Also the fact that some people are gonna preorder a game that still has an NDA is hilarious.

So are you allowed to say why you think the game is shit?
So are you allowed to say why you think the game is shit?
No, but I doubt I'm going to be playing it. So here's my thoughts: The game really just feels like Skyrim: This time with 100% more MMO. That really doesn't appeal to me.
You get six abilities in combination with your left click attack and right click block. You can customize what abilities you want and they all do different things. There's nothing really notable or unique.
The questing is a combination of Elder Scrolls and WoW. You talk to people like you would in Skyrim and have a bunch of different options that don't really matter. They send you to find X person stuck in a well or kill X amount of hyenas just as you would in WoW. It doesn't get much more complex than that. There is a main story quest that you can follow that'll lead you around the place.
The game itself is fine as a gaming experience. There's nothing inherently awful about it. I'm just so tired of companies trying to cash in on the MMO genre and failing hard to do anything reputable other than a reputation for losing loads of money.
If you are really interested in another MMO then you won't miss out on ESO, Keep playing whatever you're playing because the game will pass by and a couple weeks down the line you'll not even notice it ever existed in the first place. If you want to try out a new MMO then check out ESO. The game might capture your interest more than it did mine.
If you're waiting for the WoW killer then you should spend your money on cryogenics research not MMO subscriptions.

The game feels like a cash-in because of how similar everything seems to Skyrim. That might sound like a ridiculous complaint, but the TES is a really popular series since Oblivion. The game is very obviously going to be on consoles in the future and that brings me to the conclusion that after messing around with the Skyrim-inspired UI and Skyrim-inspired combat that the game is just cashing in on that successful franchise. It doesn't seem to be an outstanding game anywhere(Despite what the marketing says). It just is a mix between Skyrim and your average MMO.
...I may actually be tempted to get that statue and book secondhand off of ebay or something like that when the time comes.
Wouldn't actually buy them outright, though, since that would imply that I approve of... well, much else in there.
I just want the molag bal statue
ill end up finding one on ebay a month after the game comes out
