Are you implying she shouldn't have the right to say this because you don't agree with this?
Where is the line?
You can't just go "SOCIETY HAS DETERMINED THAT THAT SHIT WON'T FLY" and take someone's stuff, even if she is a bitch. You'd have to actually rigorously reform the system.
Well people who possess millions or billions of dollars certainly don't need all that cash to lead a happy and healthy life. People can live with a few million in the bank, we don't need billionaires.
How are people allowed to even get this rich? They will never spend nearly as much as their worth and horde money.
I'm pretty sure she owns companies and invest a lot in them.
It's not like she has personal bank account of 20 billion.
Fat cunt could buy someone to help her watch her weight.
LOLNOPE.
Lol the jealousy towards the upper middle to upper class ITT
I expect the dumb's to be unbearable, but I will take it because you all need to wake the fuck up and quit your aggression towards the upper class, if you are nothing but angry at them, you will never be able to BE them, and if you tell me you don't want to be them then why the fuck do you care if someone IS them, as they generally keep to themselves.
Right and I think that's fine but all Sobotnik's post said was basically "let's take her money"
I certainly wouldn't mind if this pig gets to learn how hard life really is.

Rich people keep to themselves? Dude you're fucking posting in a thread where one EXPLICITLY didn't keep to herself! Even then a lot of rich people love to use their wealth to manipulate people with positions of power and whatnot.

She obviously does not keep to herself though, she's out there saying that she wants people to make less money. She "says" it's because eventually everyone will benefit, but she knows it's false and just wants to make more money.
So you guys arguing yet?

I'm guessing she needs the extra money to build a vacation home on the moon. Dug out by 12-year-old African boys who are very grateful for their UV-ray/moon rock induced cancer and $2/month.

hey she's a mining tycoon
if there's any business that involves exploitation of the working class, it's probably mining
im sure this is a tabloid
i doubt walruses can get 18 billion dollars
I haven't seen anyone complain about the upper middle class
Perhaps not, of course people are less likely to complain about them because they come to be the generic more affluent people, wherein people don't attribute negative stigma against them, and to be honest its not as easy to be jealous of someone who can't necessarily do anything they want. Of course, people often are still jealous of anyone who makes over 100k, and it really just carries over to those that makes an incredible amount of money (1 mil a year+), they just get more angsty and jealous towards them for some reason.
if this wasn't true, then we wouldn't have all these people on FP complaining about various rich people, wherein their complaints generally are related to their affluency or success, such as Mitt Romney, Steve Jobs, pop singers, other executive workers that say things they don't agree with, they treat these people with a heightened aggression because they...are jealous.
tl;dr, they are jealous of anyone who makes more than them.

Most of the jealousy comes from the fact that most of them have extremely easy jobs with tons of benefits that are basically gained by luck or being born rich (pop singers, tycoons, socialites) or are terrible people (Mitt Romney) while the working class/miner in Africa/mill worker in China/child worker in India struggles to eat and work 2 jobs and is expected to take this.
I've never seen anyone bitch about Steve Jobs, though, unless they were talking about Apple in general.

Facepunch doesn't hate everyone that's rich lol, you're trying too hard to make a valid argument.

It is generally in the interest of a people to fight against their oppressors.
When you have lots of money, you can say what ever you want apparently.
They also think that its easy to be just like them.
Or at least the dumb egocentric douchebags do.

How the fuck can working harder get you 18 billion
It's hard to get by now days even in first world countries.. My parents worked their ass off for 20 years starting at minimum wage now they only get $20/hr and are almost living paycheck to paycheck

um, no shit they're jealous
this woman did absolutely nothing to deserve this $19 billion except be born, and then she tells workers (and her family fortune was built on MINING for christ's sake) that THEY should be working harder
do you have the slightest clue how much $19 billion dollars is? She could buy the large hadron collider and live in it, buy three space shuttles and still have several billion to live on

I think its valid to be jealous of someone who just had 18 billion plopped onto their lap.
She didn't do jack shit to get that money.

I wouldn't say they're easy, they're easily just as stressful as generic blue collar jobs, of course some blue collar jobs are more stressful, and that differs easily, you understand.

Well at least you admit I'm right...that was my entire point, my only point, that the aggression is the product of such jealousy.
[editline]5th September 2012[/editline]
Though since this is a family fortune then she REALLY doesn't deserve it, but still...like I said, jealous.

Uh, so? What is the issue, then? Are people not justified in being jealous of a person who did nothing to deserve her exorbitant wealth and who starts mouthing off about the working class being lazy?
I wouldn't say they're easy, they're easily just as stressful as generic blue collar jobs, of course some blue collar jobs are more stressful, and that differs easily, you understand.
You're honestly telling me that barking orders at people and exploiting the poor (CEO/tycoon), singing shitty pop songs engineered for maximum profit (pop star), doing nothing (socialite), or playing sports for fun and profit (athletes) is more stressful than doing things that actually help others while being paid far, far, FAR less for it? Like repairing cars, building houses, cooking food, setting up wiring, catching criminals, putting out fires...
You have the most warped view of reality I have ever seen.

well its not necessarily just the people who inherit it that they're jealous of, people tend to get jealous of people who, you know, earned it, like a lot of super rich people now (of course, not all of them).
Its not that they didn't work for it, its that they have it and the jealous ones WANT it, of course this is all logical, but I figured you guys wouldn't accept your own jealous, turns out I was wrong.

It takes an intelligent person to do any of those things, someone who the best at what they do.
Best singer, best leader, best sports player, best social person, but when you are doing blue collar shit...you don't have to be the best, heck, you don't even have to be good, you just do it.
Its not that they do more work, its not that their work is harder, its just completely different, and they are generally relatively better at what they do than the lower classes are at what they do.
Perhaps not, of course people are less likely to complain about them because they come to be the generic more affluent people, wherein people don't attribute negative stigma against them, and to be honest its not as easy to be jealous of someone who can't necessarily do anything they want. to be fair, being a pop star or celebrity can be pretty stressful at times. for one thing, everyone's paying ridiculously close attention to your every move, and people who you used to see as your friends could now possibly just be in it to steal your fame and/or fortune. people would be judging you left and right. and everyone knows who you are, so there's no chance of just disappearing from it all without tons of people hounding you.
I mean, when jobs like these are at their worst, that simple mechanic job suddenly looks a lot better. of course, blue collar work is still just as stressful, but in totally different ways.
That bitch would not survive half a day working in a mine in Africa.
People like her are the reason the estate tax needs to be 90% or higher, inherited wealth breeds selfish, insulated scum who have never truly worked a day in their lives. They have done absolutely nothing to earn the lifestyles they enjoy from multigenerational wealth.
