Aww come on the first one was good, the last one with the hedgehog robot, not so much.

Maybe its because I was listening to metal.

I just hate movies that assume that every human being would try to destroy robots :v:

I thought the second renaissance videos from the animatrix were pretty good too.
Other than that and the first movie I didn't care so much for the rest either.
Also, subject article reminded me of the ending of Hotel.

Well to be honest, animatrixclearly states that some humans tried to stand with the robots, but it got plowed over by the government.
Uh, OK.
I hate sunny days anyway.
Considering how many things depend on sunlight, such as crops, shading the Earth would probably be a bad idea.
Uh, OK.

Me too. I much prefer it overcast, contrary to the opinions of most people. You don't get sunburned, it's a more livable temperature than when it's sunny, and you don't get blinded when you go outside. Not to mention it's much better for photography (not so distinct shadows) etc. etc. So much better cloudy. AND enough sun for crops/plants to grow.
or we could change our economic paradigm to stop destroying the environment.
But no, please, let's spend trillions on a big sun umbrella for the earth
i'm not a scientist, not by a long shot
and i'll most likely be flooded with enough boxes to actually build a new earth but
why are we trying to stop global warming? isn't this a natural thing after an ice age?
(bracing myself for boxes)
Because adapting to it could potentially become prohibitively expensive in the long run. It's not always about the present--we have to keep future generations in mind as well.

You think we can stop a global climate process? At BEST we can alter the rate in which it happens. We have no choice but to adapt.
We could always do adaptation and working to mitigate the effects of it rather than one or the other.

Then wouldn't the Robots understand that not all of humanity is evil?
There is a massive logical gap.
We are a blue planet. As such, the answers to our climate woes are likely at sea.

I don't know if they ever thought all of humanity was all evil. I do think that they eventually decided that there was no way for them to live side by side with humans.
Hell they went off and created their own peaceful settlement after the initial "holocaust".
Humans weren't able to compete with them economically and blockaded them. The machines presented a plan for a mutual stable relationship. They were denied and subsequently carpet bombed with nuclear weapons. You can see why things went badly after that.
It's a very pessimistic backstory really.
[editline]1st September 2012[/editline]
I'm pretty sure that the creation of the matrix was part of the final "Peace" agreement after humanity was totally beaten. Though I don't know if the creators really thought about it originally, it's probably pretty merciful that they even created the matrix rather than just fully wiping out the humans and using cows or something to power themselves.
Then again the entire concept of the machines powering themselves with living organisms is kinda' silly because apparently the only food source is the "Liquified remains of the dead" and the law of conservation of energy kinda' disagrees with that.
And how the hell would you do that, you cant shade the whole earth no matter how much you try. And for the robot thing, you don't threathen them i f they do shit, you just overkill and problem solved, blow them up and then torture the working ones.

What? Yeah you can, a big enough volcanic eruption can eject enough ash and material into the air that it starts to bounce sunlight back into space, reducing the heat and light that reaches the ground and the same effect could easily be achieved with reflective particles.

Sadly that strong volcanos deactivated long ago.
Sadly that strong volcanos deactivated long ago.
Yeah except for the fact that there's thousands of active volcanoes on earth right now, and on a longshot the Yellostone Caldera could go off.
Then again there's you know, generally reflective particles that we can create as a species and pump into the atmosphere, fuck we already do the same thing with cloud seeding right now so all it takes is picking the right compound and mass manfucaturing it.
Also in the case of the robots, chances are they would be AI based and thus smarter than humans so we wouldn't have a chance to fight them, they'd just genetically engineer a virus with a near perfect fatality rate and wipe us out if they had to, it wouldn't be like the terminator where we can fight back, we'd be extinct in days.
