spiders
are not
animals
you cannot compare killing a spider to killing a GOLDFISH
What is your definition of animal? Because I'm pretty sure that insects and spiders are animals.
What's the difference between killing a spider and killing a goldfish, besides the fact that pets goldfishes are more usual than pets spiders?

also I don't care if the article is a year or two old. has it been posted here? Have any of you seen it? maybe people will find an interest in the subject even if it has come and gone in the real world. All news is old news, it happens outside of your reach and judgement for the most part so reading this article now would have the same impact on you and the world you live in as reading it the day it was written
Only in facepunch does news about a kid killing a goldfish so he wouldn't rat out on him gets turned into a heated discussion about the definitions of what is an animal and what you should and should not kill...
If I ever go to australia I want someone to sit guard with a flamethower next to my bed while I sleep. Fucking giant ass enemy spiders with health bars.

there aren't types of goldfish that descend from the ceiling onto your face in the middle of the night for starters
their broods are both massive due to the fact most of them don't survive getting eaten when they're young, they literally prepare for the worst by just making a shitton of babies. The biggest problem here is:
1: killing them by poisoning their water with foodstuffs, making it a slow, painful, choking death (rather than being stepped on/munched by a predator)
2: Sentimental value- they killed people's pets. the kids in the family were probably really happy to have them, and it's pretty sad for a kid losing a fish naturally, one can only imagine having all the fish killed (after a house fire, after having their nintendo stolen as well god damn) is just icing on the cake
3: the stupid factor for that reasoning seriously these kids are mental
