"What Are You Even Doing Nintendo?" : More Photos of Nintendo NX Controller Prototype Leaked

Uhh... what?
To this day, the Gamecube controller is still one of the comfiest controllers I've ever held, at least in my opinion. The only controllers that have come close to it for me are the 360 and Xbone controllers.
Are you sure you're not thinking of the N64? That thing was an abomination.
Ahem...
Still the best Nintendo controller ever:
Second "leak" in a week though. Would have to be one hell of a coincidence for two fakes in the same week to be so similar in production quality.
It may be a prototype, but they are staying very close to the original patent design. Don't expect any major changes.
The old news: (which looks super fake imo, but the placement of the stuff at the bottom not shown on the patent is all the same between the two.)
hahaha oh man
my guess is it's a decently cut photoshop, but the choice of making it look like glare was what fucked it up. The image on the screen has a central flare like you're looking at a crappy rear-projection TV, there's no light source in the image that's projecting down on it and the only other explanation for that flare would be like, a lamp directly above it

the handheld is likely to be a real physical model someone has but I'd chalk it up to some decent 3D printing nonsense
edit- I was right, check next page
it does look far less gimmicky than (as someone who has had zero contact with it) the wiiu one
hahaha oh man
Yeah like I said, looks super fake. The stuff not included on the original docs is on both images though.
It looks like a smartphone with one of those gamepad addons built into it.
Sure does. The NX patents show it has some kind of removable gamepad dock, which would explain their mobile hybrid approach.

And here comes the one million dollar question:
How do you hold it?
You gotta be willing to enjoy things. The pessimism around anything weird with Nintendo is really lame.
how can i not be pessimistic if just want a normal console, and not gimmicky shit like this...
just bring back something like the gamecube or N64, geez
One million dollar question:

Between your teeth like a Harbor Seal.
I'm guessing its going to use the screen to supplement most of the buttons, its an interesting idea since you're not limited to the controller buttons you have but its gonna be hella weird without any tactile sensation unless they cracked that
I don't like it
I can see this being semi legit. It would make sense from them to have some sort of compatibility with WiiU titles, but with the new controller being a more palatable size.
I would hope they would change the shape of the thing to be more ergonomic though, which is plausible, considering that when the PS4 controller leaked it was a very prototype shell for it, but had all the features of the final product.
it does look far less gimmicky than (as someone who has had zero contact with it) the wiiu one
the wiiu pad has always been functional and used cleverly in a lot of games, but what would you do with a sliver of screen that your hands partially cover (and big holes cut out for the sake of shitty psvita slide-sticks), with presumably dynamic touch controls that you can't actually find unless you look down at the screen instead of your actual game on the TV
what advantages would this controller even have over the wii u gamepad? it's a smaller screen that doesn't seem very conducive to video games in its shape and your hands take up a sizeable portion of it.
Oh, another to throw out there to copy my posts in the Wii U thread.
Neogaf user Guevara pointed out the tree looks very similar to the one outside of the Massive Entertainment's HQ, which is owned by Ubisoft, which is also the dev team behind the PC and PS4 versions of Tom Clancy's The Division by Tom Clancy. However this doesn't seem to be the case anymore, as the image Guevara chose is from 2008, and a more current version was pulled from Google Earth.

NX confirmed to be running UE4 *exclusive first look*

i'm not a fan of this specific design, but on a basic level this is what i want controllers with built in screens to move towards. but it could totally improve
even if this is fake, people often shit on nintendo but I for one enjoy their attempt at trying to make different ways to create and experience gameplay
i'm not a fan of this specific design, but on a basic level this is what i want controllers with built in screens to move towards. but it could totally improve
it's hard enough playing phone games with more than two touch control inputs and I'm looking at the screen the whole time, there's no reason to make a controller for a console with screen-only capacitive touch controls like that when you shouldn't be looking at the pad
There's no way this leak is right. For one thing, how would Nintendo be able to fit a shitty resistive touchscreen on such a design? For this design to work it would require Nintendo to know that capacitive touchscreens exist, which is simply not possible. This alone makes me extremely skeptical.

then one of the ways it could improve is by having some more dedicated space for controls under the screen, rather than on it, so that only the games that are meant to use the screen have you rely on it

To play a sort of devil's advocate, it seems some games being made in UE4 are going to be releasing on the NX. The next Dragon Quest games being an example. So, it could just be an NX running a UE4 tech demo for testing purposes.
Probably still fake, but I figured I'd have fun stretching out any minute possibilities.
You gotta be willing to enjoy things. The pessimism around anything weird with Nintendo is really lame.
idk about you but I have some pretty huge hands, I can't see myself using that unless they make it twice as big with handles
[editline]3[/editline]
good its fake
Tbh I wish they'd just use the Wii U Gamepad for another generation.
I don't get why retards who don't own Wii Us always bitch about it; it's actually a super comfortable controller, the second screen is useful in tons of games, and if it isn't, it's easy enough to just use a Wii U Pro Controller. Not to mention off-TV play and video watching is fucking great.
So, it could just be an NX running a UE4 tech demo for testing purposes.
it's an identical frame from the demo, which in practice would be a camera view going down that canyon so the match-up would be a miracle
I honestly really like the Wii U gamepad. It's surprisingly lightweight and its uses in games hardly ever seem super gimmicky; it usually acts like a map screen or some type of build menu (on that note, it's probably the best ever controller for building purposes without becoming a full blown right-clicking mouse). It's even good for shooter games, in Splatoon the gamepad's gyro controls make the shooting feel a lot more fast and precise in comparison to the dualstick option.
I also like how huge it is, then again the original FAT Xbox controller is one of my favorite controllers of all time so maybe I'm just crazy.
-snip-
It's been years since I followed Nintendo but are a majority of their audience still children/families?
If so then I think a touch based controller is the way to go - since most young people have grown up with smart phones and ipads etc
When i read the leaked list of features the NX had i was quite impressed honestly, even if the its fake, i'm still skeptical.
Anyway, it doesn't matter what it looks like, i'm going to buy it regardless, and enjoy the shit out of it, no matter how angry about it i am.
Touch controls is basically an oxymoron.

A few years back I believe a poll was done about purchase made on the download store, revealing young teens and kids didn't really have the console all that much, it was in the 20-30 demographic.
