it was
In context of the games it was designed for, it did the job fine. Really the only type of game it was really "bad" at was first person shooters. But console FPS's were just barely taking off at that point anyway. I don't recall ever having difficulty trying to play any games beyond FPS's.
Wiimote doesn't have a second stick, though. Hydra does, though admittedly, I used the right stick for weapon selection when playing TF2, mapping it into thirds like the gesture beam/visor-select from the Wii Prime games. Worked really nicely, actually.
it was
the n64 controller was and still is perfect for the games made for it. try playing any n64 game emulated with a modern controller and it'll just feel wrong. plug in an n64 one and it'll just feel good. plus, i know it's not 'as is', but if you replace the joystick with a custom gamecube styled one, it fixes the biggest issue with the controller. [editline]24th March 2016[/editline] and the whole you don't have 3 hands!!!' thing is a dumb argument. like i'm pretty sure nintendo was aware that people don't have 3 hands. it's just to give you a choice between thumbstick and dpad. yes modern controllers (starting with the dualshock 2?) figured out how to do it without adding a second prong, but it doesn't kill the 64 controller. it's still a joy to use for the games it was made for.
Not many games required you to use the dpad and stick o the n64 also fps games had auto aim or limited aiming on the n64. Doom you can't even aim up and it auto aims for you if they are on a different elevation level. Goldeneye had manual aim but if they aren't on a different elevation or you're not trying to do a long ranged snipe, you can typically point in the general direction. Of course that won't cut it now but the n64 controller wasn't a bad controller at the time. You haven't seen bad until you've seen the old controllers with numpads as posted before.
I'll be honest though. Nintendo really is terrible at supporting their innovative ideas. I personally play my Wii U more than any other console now because I have shit to do and the only games I play are games with friends. I do really enjoy the console, but holy crap Nintendo is awful at implementing their concepts. The Wii brought this new motion controller, it was cool, a little gimmicky, but different. Wii sports was awesome and I saw so much potential. After that... What games can you really remember that were good with the Wii Mote? The Wii U came out! The controller looked dumb but the concept was sort of cool, two screens! When i bought my Wii U years after it came out I popped in Nintendoland. Holyshit those mini games were lacking content but damn if they weren't amazing party games, and truly made the the Wii U gamepad fun in unique ways. Has there been a game yet that felt as fun as those? No... NOT EVEN FUCKING MARIO PARTY. I really wanted it to work out, but It feels like Nintendo thinks of a cool idea and then throws it away when it comes down to making games. Now I use my Wii U for Mario Kart, Smash, and Zelda windwaker. All of which the gamepad barely affects. (Although it is a nice addon for windwaker, it still doesn't innovate with it)
i legit think that pro-levels are achievable with the steam controller because the gyro and the touchpad offer enough precision and speed to match mouse use, similarly to how there are a couple trackball pro players, its just a matter of practice and time
I don't doubt it, I've sunk a few hours into playing on my macbook and that trackpad is fucking ace for FPS games
What the fuck is even wrong with nintendo. No buttons? Seriously? Yes because slamming my thumb into an unmoving piece of glass is so comfortable. Fuck off.
I am. Having used both in the same game, against users who always did use an actual mouse: a wand is better. It's just better. Using properly-implemented motion controls in a FPS will always beat out any mouse. It's the difference between aiming with your hand and aiming with what is practically a crane. If my Hydra still worked, I'd even be willing to personally prove that to anyone who doubts it.
You're deluded. The wiimote has far too much delay to be used in any serious FPS context. There's a reason everyone hated the call of duty Wii ports. [editline]24th March 2016[/editline]
What the fuck is even wrong with nintendo. No buttons? Seriously? You're supposed to hold that with the tip of your fingers? How is it ergonomic?

The DS and 3DS. They both used it excellently. IMO even if it is simply a way to manage your inventory or map, its still a lot better just mirroring the main screen. At that point, it might as well not be on to save battery life.
Time to put Nintendo down to rest. Wii U already is discontinuing production in a few months and now they are building their next console on a gimmick controller again? How hard is it to just use the Wii U pro controller for the official controller scheme?
Wasn't this debunked already?
You're deluded. The wiimote has far too much delay to be used in any serious FPS context. There's a reason everyone hated the call of duty Wii ports.
I've never heard of this being a thing, but a quick search makes me think it's probably upscaling lag.
And here comes the one million dollar question: How do you hold it?
Left handle for left hand. Right handle for right hand. And the middle handle to shove up your ass :qsex101:
I doubt that this leak is real. Just because it matches the patent's picture doesn't mean that its the same thing Nintendo is going to use. Heck, it doesn't even mean that Nintendo is going to use it at all. To show you what I mean, here is a patent that Sony filed quite a while ago: Apperantly it was supposed to be the PS4 controller

So what exactly were you expecting the NX to have?
You're deluded. The wiimote has far too much delay to be used in any serious FPS context. There's a reason everyone hated the call of duty Wii ports.
Wiimote isn't the most powerful wand device by a long shot, even with MotionPlus. And that's not what I used in TF2. There's a whole spectrum of wands out there using different technology, and I'd recommend learning about the electromagnetic system Sixense tech uses. That said, I have no idea where you're getting this Wiimote delay idea from.
Nintendo consoles and handhelds are the only ones I regularly use. Had a PS3 and 360 for a few exclusives but then most of them got ported to the PC so I ended up selling them. Don't really have a reason to get a PS4 or One since I have a PC. Nintendo isn't in the market to be #1, and they're not competing with Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo is the second console. You've already got a PC/PS4/One for your multiplat games or specific exclusives, but then there's the Wii U, which is basically your sole "exclusive console". You don't buy a Wii U for Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty, you buy it for Zelda, Kirby, Star Fox, Mario, DK, Pikmin, Pokemon, Splatoon, Yoshi, Smash, and 2nd party (or nearly) exclusives like Bayonetta, 101, Xenoblade, and Fatal Frame. It offers a unique controller/screen hybrid that quite a few games use for good effect and the others you can play with the Off-TV feature if you want to watch TV, lay down, or let someone else use the TV. It's great for multiplayer because two players basically have their own screen so no screen cheating, and RTS type games work well with the touch functionality. Trying to compare MS/Sony with Nintendo is like comparing them to smartphone - they don't compete, they offer separate experiences, and people tend to own both. Nintendo games span multiple genres, they're not all platformers, and there's a sizable library of games now. Nintendo has so much money they could make zero profit for years and be fine, regardless they are still making money with the Wii U so it's definitely not a failure, and comparing sales to other consoles is basically comparing Apples to Broccoli, both have a difference niche. On topic, this controller is fake, as previously mentioned, and Nintendo knows too much about touch controls to know that covering the playable area with your hands is dumb.
I think Wii U tries to be more of a "companion console", which would be an easier sell if it didn't still cost nearly as much as a PS4. I'm starting to come around to the idea that Wii U needs a massive price drop. Being able to get a $200 factory refurb from Nintendo is one thing, but it needs to start advertising that price off-the-shelf. Especially if it can be something like the Smash-Splat bundle. There's merit to the notion that we shouldn't undervalue the system, but I think Nintendo's priority ought to be getting it into as many hands as possible as this point. Who knows when NX is coming out still? Nintendo never does a system launch the same year as the actual reveal, even if we already knew about it (how long did we know about Revolution and Cafe before they were revealed as Wii and Wii U?) so I'm not buying that it might be end-of-2016 still. Some people still thought it would be coming 2015 simply because Iwata mentioned first mentioned NX during 2015's investor meeting to reassure people that "we aren't going mobile-only" after finally caving to investor demands to make mobile apps. I still think even bringing up mobile and NX at that point in time was a mistake and only served to pacify investors for the short-term, considering how little it actually pleased the fickle, trend-chasing bastards. All it did was subject the Wii U to the Osborne Effect a mere two-and-a-half years into its life, denying it a chance to mature when you consider something like PS3 took even longer than that to turn things around. I don't want to just give up on the Wii U. People told me to give up on Vista, Brawl, Windows 8, and the original Wii. Someone give me this one.
It's fake. The guy who created the leak put up a video of him making it.

Everyone already knew that one was a fake because it used a screengrab from the UE4 demo.

Ah, didn't realize how identical both of them looked. Welp.
nintendo needs to die because you bought into two false rumors? incredible
"Nintendo is going to die" has been said since the NES
Doomed since 1889, bitch.
nintendo needs to die because you bought into two false rumors? incredible when are we gonna learn that "some nobody from reddit" is not a valid source for news
Probably around the same time that people realise that rumours aren't a valid news source.
