Yes, I just couldn't be bothered to change the post after I found that out. [editline]17th October 2012[/editline]
sorry dude I really cba to figure out why you're having trouble interpreting my posts I asked you to explain the difference between sexism and misogyny because you were intent on saying that misogyny isn't misogyny but it's actually sexism I really have no idea what you're even trying to argue
You know what I think? I think the whole world has a stick up its ass. Some day, you wont be able to say a single negative think about someone without them calling you worse than Hitler.
You're an idiot.
It's tragic how many people agree with him. But you see it a lot in SH threads. The first few posts or page normally gets swept up in lunacy popularism. Then a second camp comes in later pages to deconstruct the first, and then form a smaller, but still substantial 'agree-block'.
Err what? Men generally don't call each other ugly cows because most men aren't attracted to other men.. Besides, I've never ever heard of 'cow' being a gender specific insult. [editline]17th October 2012[/editline] Even if it was a gender specific insult, that'd be sexism and not misogynistic.
in what strange, strange fantasy world do you live in where this sentence makes any sense at all "its sexist against women, not misogyny!"
You're an idiot.
Care to point out how punching someone who just happens to be a woman is misogynistic?
You're an idiot. [editline]17th October 2012[/editline] "those who point out sexism are the real sexists!!!"
That's not what I meant, nor what I said. Sexism should be pointed out. For both (all) genders.
do MRAs think that they're going to transform into feminazis a la sailor moon if they acknowledge that misogyny exists and that it's a real problem?
Chopping dicks by moonlight, Serving women by daylight, Doesn't care about men's rights, He is the one named Misandrist Moon.
Here's an example that may talk to the mainly-gamer demographic of Facepunch:
IF A MAN STARTS A NEW GEEKY HOBBY LIKE GAMING, BUT ISN'T QUITE VERSED IN IT YET, HE'S A WELCOME CONVERT TO THE CAUSE, A NEWBIE COMING INTO THE LIGHT SOON TO BE WELL ACQUAINTED WITH OUR WAYS, ONE OF US, ONE OF US, ONE OF US But if it's a disgusting FEEEEEEEEEEEEMALE, especially one I find attractive, she's obviously just trying to impress me with her fake geekiness. Gosh, I can't believe you don't know as much about this stuff as I do. You know I can tell you're really not into gaming, I KNOW you're just doing it for attention because you're FEEEEEMALE. And in about five hours we'll have our daily, "WHY AREN'T THERE ANY FEEEEEEMALES WHO ARE INTO COOL STUFF LIKE I AM? WHERE CAN I FIND INTELLIGENT, ATTRACTIVE WOMEN WHO SHARE MY INTERESTS?" whine.
Have you noticed how omnipresent this attitude is? How it's drilled in your heads by peers and media? That is instutionalized misogyny
Ok ok, I figured out the argument. We're arguing that sexism again women is misogyny, so if you're sexist against a woman, you're also being misogynistic. The talking point is whether or not misogyny instantly includes sexism or if it's just purely hatred of women. Is that correct?
there is no argument, this entire thread is just mobrockers backpedalling with semantics to justify his objectification of women
"those who point out sexism are the real sexists!!!"
Even though I might not agree with his post, since when does "You're reinforcing sexism by not allowing sexism to exist at the other side" equal "You're sexist by by pointing out sexism" ?
It's tragic how many people agree with him. But you see it a lot in SH threads. The first few posts or page normally gets swept up in lunacy popularism.
Care to point out how punching someone who just happens to be a woman is misogynistic?
it's not. it just makes you kind of an ass depending on the context
in what strange, strange fantasy world do you live in where this sentence makes any sense at all "its sexist against women, not misogyny!"
sexism against women doesn't not automatically mean misogyny.
sexism against women doesn't not automatically mean misogyny.
holy fucking shit
I think you're overanalyzing ratings and discussion ratings are about as accurate as polls in US politics
It's funny because you can often use it to predict the next page in a thread. You should try it. We should call it, Dachi's Agree-block theorem.
sorry dude I really cba to figure out why you're having trouble interpreting my posts I asked you to explain the difference between sexism and misogyny because you were intent on saying that misogyny isn't misogyny but it's actually sexism I really have no idea what you're even trying to argue
Where did you get that from? I was arguing that what they said was misogyny was actually just sexism.
sexism against women doesn't not automatically mean misogyny.
who has said that, why does it matter, and why do you care?
holy fucking shit
What?
ratings are about as accurate as polls in US politics
this is the stupidest fucking analogy
sexism against women doesn't not automatically mean misogyny.
name one situation where you can be sexist against a woman without it being misogynist
Here's an example that may talk to the mainly-gamer demographic of Facepunch: Have you noticed how omnipresent this attitude is? How it's drilled in your heads by peers and media? That is instutionalized misogyny
I try to teach girls how to play games just like how I teach guys how to play games. I don't get where you're getting this entire "I'm not really going to help you get into this because you're doing it for the attention" attitude
None that I can think of. Maybe being expected to be the one asking the other out, that's a serious problem caused by me being a man. Maybe being expected to not feel any pain. Maybe being expected to always lend a hand. Maybe being expected to do heavy lifting. But I'm sure you won't think of those as hardships.
literally all of those "disadvantages" are founded in misogyny. you're expected to ask the woman out because people considered women objects to be obtained by men and thus a woman seeking her own relationship was generally just a sign she was a whore. men were considered the top dog, the ones that had to run society so it seemed fitting that because women were so incapable of doing anything themselves it was up to men to be strong and do everything for them.
this is the stupidest fucking analogy
probably, I'm just talking about something that's often used as an indicator that really isn't important come to think of it I think quality of a game and metacritic score is a better analogy
Btw, the big problem with having debates on gender politics on this forum is that we rarely have any women here. And because of that our arguments nearly entirely consist of men trying to speak on behalf of women thinking they know everything about what they think and experience in their lives. It's really not ideal at all, because a lot of males here overcompensate for speaking on behalf of women and perhaps exaggerate a bit
Check your white cis male privilege.
Oh wow fuck off "white male privilege" has to be one the most overused terms and it isn't even relevant these days, sorry.
Btw, the big problem with having debates on gender politics on this forum is that we rarely have any women here. Considering most of the people who act that way towards female gamers are twelve year olds on xbox live I would't really call them my peers. Not to mention these same people don't treat noobs as cool new people, rather they usually just call them faggots. You would probably find that the majority of adult gamers don't act this way. I'm talking from experience and maybe it is a huge problem on US servers but on Australian servers most of the people I meet that aren't twelve are really nice and friendly to everyone. Or maybe it's just because I'm not on xbox live.
Oh wow fuck off "white male privilege" has to be one the most overused terms and it isn't even relevant these days, sorry.
um white male privilege is a real thing. the fact that you think otherwise is a sign that you benefit from it
probably, I'm just talking about something that's often used as an indicator that really isn't important come to think of it I think quality of a game and metacritic score is a better analogy
But the Dachi Agree-block Theorem doesn't use ratings as a polling or meta-critic devise. But rather a demonstrator of mindless popularism.
