If this goes ahead and you're all so worried about it then fucking boil your water, condense the water vapour and drink pure H2O.
It's probably of no worry in small concentrations and won't really do much to effect your perception on the world. I mean, would you complain if everyone was suffering from lowered appetite and they started putting zinc in the water to counteract that? Or would you see that as 'messing with our minds' and refuse to drink it?
i would prefer to handle my own issues in my own way (fix my own appetite issues myself), and not have the government decide what's best for me.
i wouldn't refuse to drink it, but i would not agree that it's the right thing to do.
though frankly lowered appetite in this country wouldn't be bad, we could stand to drop a couple extra hundred pounds.
Hah! We fooled you government! We stopped drinking tap water years ago!
See? It says here on my water bottle "Bottled: Knoxville municipal water supply"
Yeah so the- wait municipal?! FUCK.
This isn't over, GOVERNMENT. I'll be back.

if there's anything water related we should be angry about is bottled water, it being environmentally bad and pretty much a scam at even a dollar per bottle.
We get water from a well, worse that it contains is components found in rocket fuel (dead serious. Thanks, local air force base!) and I've suffered no ill effects from it, so what's the worse that Lithium can do?

I agree. Go to a convenience store and compare the price of a bottle of water to a bottle of soda of equal size. Last time I did this:
Water, 20 oz. - $1.69
Soda, 20 oz. - $1.89
A whole TWENTY CENTS cheaper. Must be all the additives and processing they have to do to make it drinkable amirite?

Uhh...water everywhere contains the components for rocket fuel.
Liquid hydrogen + liquid oxygen == Rocket fuel.
This would be one of many reasons why finding water on another planet is important.

Not going to pretend I have a source, but I recall reading somewhere that the price of water in a bottle is about a thousand times the price of the water running through your taps.

No no, different rocket fuel. Like for missiles and shit.
No no, different rocket fuel. Like for missiles and shit.
Uhhh, Kerosene wouldn't be in your water because it has to be refined in a specific fashion from crude oil.
Hydrazine wouldn't appear in your water in any notable amount because it explodes occasionally when brought into contact with light. (Interesting side note, if you pee in a chlorinated pool, you produce a very small amount of hydrazine. A highly unstable, when exposed to light, rocket fuel)
The nitrogen oxide propellants also require a specific method of manufacturing. So not really sure on those showing up either.
EDIT: I guess you could be talking about solid rocket fuels, but those show up in a wide variety of flavors, so I can't really comment there.

i prefer my rocket fuel to be grape flavored cuz rocket fuel is the only thing that tastes good grape flavored.
Sunlight triggers the release of various chemicals and it's been proven to be beneficial to get a healthy amount of sunlight in the long run.
Buildings are being designed now with larger windows and more open spaces to accommodate for the sunlight that technology has taken away from us over the years.
This doesn't mean that architects are trying to alter the personalities of people, they are simply trying to balance out necessary positive forces on our lives that they once took away.
It's the same thing with lithium in drinking water.
No, it's not the same thing. Adding lithium to the water serves solely to alter the personalities of the people drinking it. "Suicide and crime prevention" is just a fancy way of dressing that up.
Besides, I can close the curtains. I can't opt for municipally-provided Lithium-free water

Usually where I live Soda is cheaper. At walmart they sell their soda brand for 25 cents an individual can through the vending machine, and their water is 50 cents to a dollar.
this being said I am okay with lithium in the water, and was already under the impression that this occurs in some places in America.

What would he do?
lithium is industrial waste, there is a small chance that (like fluoride) they are just looking for an easy and inexpensive way to dispose of it.

Except for the fact that lithium is really useful since you can make batteries out of it and stuff.

Drinking battery juice is one of my favorite pastimes.

A communist plot! Must protect my bodily fluids!
The only reason to reject lithium in water is that it has implications on the development of foetuses.
The only reason to reject lithium in water is that it has implications on the development of foetuses.
It may just be me and my silly paranoid self but that sounds like plenty reason enough.
I'm sure they wouldn't add it without extensive testing.
Fluorine had the same reaction from people. That seems alright.
Yeah, im sure they dont spray chemicals in the air all over germany without extensive testing.
Oh, wait... That IS testing?!
Lithium is actually an important microbioelement, about 1mg/day is an improvement to ones health.
"Observational studies in Japan, reported in 2011, suggested that naturally occurring lithium in drinking water may increase human lifespan. Refference"
Out of curiosity, what would likely be the other component to the lithium. Or will it be straight up lithium? They usually bind metals with other compounds to make them dissolve easier in solutions.
Probably lithium chloride.
If it's healthy, reduces suicide rates and reduces crimes it should be damn well put into the water supply, what's not to like?
If it's healthy, reduces suicide rates and reduces crimes it should be damn well put into the water supply, what's not to like?
Not having a choice.
Not having a choice.
Then boil the water and drink the purified form if you don't like it.
Or buy bottled water.
Then boil the water and drink the purified form if you don't like it.

Boiling the water won't be enough; you need to distill it.
Well as long as the majority of people find it ok, and the pros of using Lithium outweighs the cons then just add it. Governments have been intervening in things for a long time and more often than not it has been beneficial, without such government intervention most people would be in poverty, drinking water full of shit and diseases.
Well as long as the majority of people find it ok
lol
there might be some people that might not react well to lithium, could be only 1 in a million people but still
The amount they add to the water supply would be trivial, not enough to create complications I don't think.
Not having a choice.
"Bottled Water".
lol
Ok?
