Here's hoping it actually gets done.
if this happens and it doesn't make the TV news to any appreciable extent it will be absolute proof to me that the mainstream media has no value. they bloat their headlines all time with useless shit about twitter and facebook; if this isn't included it means they have an undeniable corporate agenda.
How a week with SOPA Black outs would go: Day 1: Screaming "OH god no WHY!!!!" Lots of Screaming Day2: Calling Google every five minutes asking "Pease fix it please!" Day 3: Mindlessly hitting F5 while drawing pictures of "That Cat." Day 4: Have beat all owned video games and watched all downloaded content on hard drive. Day 5: Start to notice this thing called "outside" through this little flat screen in my wall. Day 6: Venture out and are immediately mistaken for a vampire, hide back inside for the rest of the day. Day 7: Try going outside again after getting some spray on tan. Actually make some new friends and even play a sport. Internet is restored. Day 8, 12:00 AM: OH sweet baby how I have missed you! Resume normal activity of posting old content and shitty puns.
I hope I don't have to do research work when they decide to go down.

It's not a stretch to say that Google is essentially the backbone of the internet. Whether people are using it for research or for just general information, losing it would cause chaos for EVERYONE.
I hope google also shuts down youtube during the blackout. That will draw a lot of attention as well.
Google could also shut down android market, reCAPTCHA, Blogspot, Orkut and Adsense
Children. We are about to time travel back to 1995.
I don't think I can do it. They'd need to bring Toonami back or something.
I don't think I can do it. They'd need to bring Toonami back or something.
Or Ren and Stimpy
Children. We are about to time travel back to 1995.
Time to break out the gameboy and some 3D doritos.
No silly 404 pages. No silly simple black censor images across the logo. I want a completely unusable page that outright tells you that this could happen and a link to some more information and what you should do so people dont shrug it off. "Oh lol I'll go to facebook and comment about this" *Facebook is the same* "Oh.. woah twitter then" *twitter is the same* *youtube is the same* THEN it will hit home, I want people to panic about it, not laugh.
Do it, just do it.
Time to break out the gameboy and some 3D doritos.
Welp, time to load my phone up with emulators and roms.
This would be great if they did it.
So we've got the world's biggest search engine, the world's biggest social media website, the world's biggest microblogging (?) website, the world's biggest online payment processor, the world's second biggest search engine and the world's most widely used online encyclopedia planning a collective blackout? I would say 'I'm okay with this' but that would be like saying that basketball players are a wee bit big.
Internet is overrated anyway, no one use that old tech anymore. Oh yeah it's late, time for some youporn.com
Two words, DO IT.
Again, I hope they remember Protect IP. It's pretty much SOPA Plan B, just as nasty really, but "SOPA" is more popular in media.
If they're really planning on doing this, I'm behind 'em completely.
DOITDOITDOITDOIT
Also this would be critical if the porn industry also did the same thing. Senators would be up to the hilt in millions of angry men and women who have cum to desire an end to this stroke of governmental perversion.
Bring everything down for two months and see if everyone likes it. Suddenly, everyone goes out for a picnic and lying on the beach under the sun
Expectation:
Bring everything down for two months and see if everyone likes it. Suddenly, everyone goes out for a picnic and lying on the beach under the sun
Reality: The Potomac runs red with the blood of the bureaucrats, at the hands of hipsters and tumblr users.
Watch as a million facebook users don't understand what's going on and bitch about the downtime
Google should make docs blackout words every couple of sentences or so, when you click on it, it tells you "Do you want SOPA to make it harder for you to make that report? ACT NOW". Translator goes "Do you want to still translate words for your international friends so you can talk? ACT NOW" Gmail goes "Your emails could potentially be blacked out and scanned losing your privacy, ACT NOW" my ideas goes on and on, if they go ahead with this the media attention, public attention and international attention would skyrocket incredibly causing SOPA and PIP to be no more on the face of the earth.
If this happens it's going to be hilarious watching various News stations try and look the other way.
Microsoft needs to do this as well, because other wise there will still be Bing.
Watch as a million facebook users don't understand what's going on and bitch about the downtime
That's why they should make a banner that looks like the official FBI/Government Censor Banner except within it they have written, "This is what the Internet could look like if SOPA/Protect IP legislation is passed. Contact your representatives and make sure this doesn't pass! For more information visit [Link Here]" Just maybe better written.
Microsoft needs to do this as well, because other wise there will still be Bing.
Bing or no search engine at all. It's a tough decision. :v:
