They aren't the worst things on the market when you compare them to cheap chinese heaphones or "gaming headsets"
Thing is you could get something with three times the sound quality for the money, but without the ~dr dre approval~

Beets by Dr.Dre
The real question is why did you buy beats in the first place lol
To get the sound of cats tumbling in a dryer
I opened up a movie I got for Christmas and found tuna!
Seems to be happening a lot, its an epidemic!
[sp]I dont believe this story at all[/sp]
You expected Sharknado, you got Tunado instead.

True. It was just that most people seemed to be saying that they were shit quality overall, not because of the price you pay for them.
Beats Studio have a 423% profit margin. The more you know :eng101:

I'm certainly not trying to be Racist, but it is merely something I have observed.
I worked at Target, until this past Friday when I couldn't take it anymore, but I worked the Electronics Booth towards the end of my stay..
In the Four months I spent working that Booth, through Christmas;
Not ONE White family/person came up and purchased a pair of Beats. We had a skinhead run out the door with Three, but I didn't see a single light-skinned customer ask about them or buy one. Mostly and almost exclusively they were bought by Black customers for their children.
I've put on Beats and feel like the 140.00 over-the-ear SkullCandy's sound and feel better, for half the price even! But for whatever reason Dre's marketing scheme has worked flawlessly with the Black population. And thats why they sell so much. Its novel in a culture that cherishes material wealth to a high standard.

Fairly decent isn't exactly what I'm expecting when I buy a $300 headphones.

That is very incorrect. I go to a pretty mixed school and people of all races buy them.
Somewhere a homeless man at a shelter receives a useless pair of headphones when he was expecting a simple canned donation meal. He goes hungry that night.
Beats sound pretty good in my opinion, I just bought a pair of the solo hd for 120 on black Friday. They bump pretty good and block enough noise to concentrate in my uni computer lab. You guys are pretty picky if u say they sound like absolute shit.
I think it depends on what you listen to, I listen to mainly rap and hip hop which I bet most of you don't.
I just find it ridiculous that people pay that much money for headphones in the first place.
Fish got battered
Beats headphones have far from shit sound quality, they just have a huge emphasis on the low end and cost way too much.
So they don't have shit sound quality except for the part where they have shit sound quality.
Well alrighty then.
[sp]And that isn't even true. They sound legitimately horrendous. You can get a 30 dollar set of headphones with around the same build quality, and significantly better sound than 200+ dollar beats, and you don't have to deal with everything turning into wubstep.[/sp]

There is a lot to be gained by getting up to around 250 dollars, and I'm not talking about straight sound quality. A good set of headphones will not only last a long time, but is comfortable to wear fairly continuously, and most high end headphones are very easy to fix. Most padding is fairly trivial to replace, and they typically use screws instead of one way plastic fasteners, meaning you can replace components should they break quite easily. Past that arbitrary price point and you will hit diminishing returns very hard.
You can get away with buying a 20 dollar set every couple of months, and you will probably come out ahead in terms of cost over 5-10 years, but you do get what you pay for in some respects. Little things like the pads being somewhat breathable material instead of smooth plastic make a huge difference to some of us when we are sitting with them on for 5+ hours at a clip.

are you saying bass = low sound quality
are you saying bass = low sound quality
If you have such a ridiculously heavy emphasis on bass that it completely overwhelms everything else, then yes. It doesn't have to be distorted to be low quality sound.
What's more, all the Beats I've tried on have suffered from noticeable distortion, and I'm generally not incredibly picky about that stuff without an immediate comparison.

depends what your listening to. a lot popular music today is more bass focused and would sound fine.
And this is where things start to devolve into arguments based on opinion.
I contend that an adequately balanced set of headphones is still better for listening to that music. If it is literally nothing but bass, then adjust the volume as needed. The fact that you literally cannot hear parts of pieces that aren't pure bass on those headphones makes them shit in my book.
If all you listen to is wubstep, then fine, be my guest; buy headphones marked up higher than Macs, with even worse build quality and fidelity. It's not my money, and I'm not using them.
People are slick as fuck when it comes to doing this shit. I work at Brookstone and we sell every kind of overpriced headphones including Beats, and we always double check our shipments to see if any were stolen or tampered with.. There were many times when we got a shipment with a bunch of headphones missing or were tampered with. Never have I ever seen something like this though, it's usually some weights or something not fucking tuna.
Do you have those asshole who bring portable sound systems on a bus?
Because I fucking do. Marshmellow earbuds are the way to go, blocks out fucking EVERYTHING and they have enough bass to make modern rap songs sound okay if they happen to come on the radio.
I got some ATH M-50s with some gel pads for a Davis and Clark headset popped on in place of the regular foam ear pads. They are amazing, keeps all outside sound out, and keeps all your sound in so you don't disturb others, no matter how high the volume.

You don't even have to go out of your way to avoid excessive sound leakage. Even my simple pair of Koss PortaPros (which are fairly open headphones) don't leak sound to such a degree I'm annoying people because I'm sensible enough to keep the volume low enough. I don't hear everything around me, they don't hear everything I'm listening too, best of both worlds. I'm fairly paranoid about being "that guy" on public transport so I have checked this.
I really don't get why people insist on having their things up full blast when using earphones/ headphones, they usually block a good portion of the background noise as is.

How does emphasis on bass = shit sound quality in general?
Plus if you dont listen to music with plenty of bass, youre unlikely to buy a product endorsed by Dr.Dre in the first place.
There are many many positive professional reviews out there. They are still a waste of money but not because "LOLOL THEY SOUND LIKE LIQUID SHIT". Reckon most of that bullshit is simply bandwagoning.
Nothing like a Tuna Surprise to ruin someone's day right? Anyways, who would pay over $200 for headphones? I bought a decently priced $30 headset which has better sound quality than most overpriced headphones out there.
Something to look out for when buying headphones and head set.
1. Comfort level from over long uses
2. Sound quality and how good is it from preventing sound from escaping when listening to audio
3.External volume controller.
Pretty much half of this thread: "It didn't happen to me, therefor, it's FAKE!111!"
Imagine a family opening presents on Christmas. This young girl has spent the last month trying to find herself a good pair of headphones. And this one time she was at best buy, and her parents saw her glance towards the beats section. "These are pretty", the girl said, "but they are too expensive".
Now, the family saw and remembered that, and since their girl was good this year, they decided to give her a big gift this year. They felt so great, so proud, when their child opened her present with sparkles in her eyes, and then... Tuna. There was tuna.
For the rest of my life, any time something disappoints me, I will say "Tuna. There was tuna."
Thank you.
Should've gone with Sennheiser
i have this nice pair of sony headphones which i picked up for around $20-30 dollars
i don't anything fancy, if it sounds good its' fine
Doesn't matter to the majority of the teen population, it's what everyone else has got, so it's pretty much required to have it to fit in with the popular crowd.
idk about the UK but Beats in Australia became pretty unpopular around 2013, now people don't care what you wear its up to you
Because they are doctor approved
I know right some buuuuuulllll ssshhhiiiitt
