That's extremely insensitive and really stereotypical. [editline]a[/editline] Quoting so people know how much of a cunt you're before you snip.
Shut up you politically correct white knighting spineless cunt. It was an obvious joke and wasn't meant to take seriously and people like you get offended for no fucking reason. I bet if it was a white, christian stereotype you wouldn't even blink your fucking eye you hypocrite. (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - Starpluck))
Actually this seems like a pretty cool idea. [editline]7th October 2011[/editline]
That's extremely insensitive and really stereotypical. [editline]a[/editline] Quoting so people know how much of a cunt you're before you snip.
Seem like if it was a Christian stereotype I doubt you would really care.
So does he like save the day by blowing himself up? Cool concept though, has a good art style.
No that's this guy

Its obviously not going to appeal to the majority of the US market so I don't know why they would even try. Regardless of controversy its gonna crash and burn.

[editline]7th October 2011[/editline] and seriously that the worst attitude to take when approaching media and society
How do you make a story with 99 characters that you have to focus on?
He doesn't care about the majority. He's trying to reach out to muslims in general. [editline]7th October 2011[/editline] and seriously that the worst attitude to take when approaching media and society
I understand his goal I'm just saying its kind of a pointless endeavor. Sure he's making a point but its going to be forgotten rather quickly. Its going to take x amount of years before toleration reaches the point he and many other muslims hope for and pushes like this don't make much of a significant impact. If he were to release it and it gained a lot of popularity then yeah it would make a mark but the comic's target market is a minority.
How do you make a story with 99 characters that you have to focus on?
It could be a different one each day, with other ones fulfilling as background characters, or the 'core' tenets could be the main heroes who get more focus than the sidelines. It's a superhero show, it may not be the justice league but at least it's testing the ground for new waters. I love how they tacked on "in the US" because it mentions some randroid cunt complained about it, meanwhile the most resistance it's meeting is with the fundamentalists of the same religion he's trying to show in a positive light.
To be fair, the whole idea is blatantly violating a big rule to Muslims; Don't represent anything about God with any man or creature. Good idea or not, a Muslim would be the last person to read these.
I remember this from when they first announced it. Seems like a good idea.
So I'm just pointing out how hypocritical FP is If the religion is Christianity then most of FP is all for bashing it but if it's any other religion they go off about any intolerance towards it.
You're assuming. Btw, there already is a Christian Marvel character. [editline]7th October 2011[/editline] Quick note, you can't call someone hypocritical only on the basis of what you think they would or would not do without and reason as to why.

I can't wait to add it to my collection, honestly.
His gimmick is being a Crusader, a very, very devout Christian. So in a way, it is based around the fact he's a Christian.

As a Muslim, I'm intrigued to see where this goes. Could be pretty damn fine if it's done right.

Neither are explicitly mentioned in the comic.
I don't see the problem... it's just a comic book, and it seems more on the topic of acceptance than trying to stir things up.
I would watch this.
I've read a few issues of The99. It's entertaining.
Are they forgetting somebody? (The Hashishin or 'creed' he belonged to are based on a real group that were originally Ismaili Shia Muslims during the 9th century.)
So who are the superheros then? Any pictures of them?
So I'm just pointing out how hypocritical FP is If the religion is Christianity then most of FP is all for bashing it but if it's any other religion they go off about any intolerance towards it.
Not really,it's a comic...They're all fiction. So they would be disproving their own religion the same way this guy is.
I bet if it was a white, christian stereotype you wouldn't even blink your fucking eye you hypocrite.
No, of course not, because there's virtually no christianophobia in the Western world.
Hey guys I just popped in and decided to ignore everything said in this thread to point out I think this is a pretty cool concept and that I'd actually like to read the comic myself.
Faith in humanity restored.
