Reddit CEO: "We stand for free speech... we are not going to ban distasteful subreddits."

Someone should make a subreddit where everyone insults the admins, then see if they leave it be because freedom of speech.
No it would be more on par with complaining about facepunch if our administration actively defended a jailbait subforum until they had to be legally strongarmed into removing it.
let alone the fact that it's in defense of "free speech"
yeah the 16 year old girl on facebook whose profile picture you just looked at/jerked off to/who cares is going to not care that her profile picture is being shared on reddit because it's all just free speech, what harm can come from free speech
Phew!

Lol illegal fetishes
Fetishes are never illegal, the actions are what is illegal.

Pedophilia + violence fetishes are illegal as far as i know.
Pedophilia + violence fetishes are illegal as far as i know.
Pedophilia is not illegal. It is only illegal when there is actual evidence
Can't arrest somebody for thinking about something.
Pedophilia + violence fetishes are illegal as far as i know.
Well he's right. It's not illegal to have these fetishes, what is illegal is satisfying them if I may say.
Even though that's pretty much just arguing about semantics.

You wouldn't exactly want people to know that you find violence/dead people/kids attractive though, would you?
You wouldn't exactly want people to know that you find violence/dead people/kids attractive though, would you?
Did it ever go through your mind that some people just don't give a fuck about that?
And that still doesn't prove anything. That just makes people think you're odd.
Did it ever go through your mind that some people just don't give a fuck about that?
There's not giving a fuck about what people think about you, and then there's not giving a fuck about what people might do against you. Paedophilia can get you totally excluded from everyone else, especially people with children.
And that still doesn't prove anything. That just makes people think you're odd.
"Odd" is a bit too light for that. "Crazy", "sick in the head" etc. are pretty common, just having people think of you as "odd" is getting off pretty lucky. People can be stupidly judgmental for the most minor of details.
http://www.reddit.com/r/circlejerk is the only good subreddit

No, most people would probably give alot of fucks about stuff like that and would be extremely repulsed or just avoid you.
This is going to be a fun thread to watch.

And you're still going completely off my topic. I was mentioning illegality, not morals.
Those two go hand in hand a lot but not always.
Phew!

illegal =/= bad
And you're still going completely off my topic. I was mentioning illegality, not morals.

Well obviously it isn't illegal, it just happens that the only time it becomes relevant is the time that you choose to act on it, which is, of course, the instant it becomes illegal. So it may as well be illegal, but I'd much rather that it wasn't because banning the fetishes themselves would be arbitrary and silly.
quick everybody start labelling all of reddit
fuck those gay cancerous pedophiles and all their families
we should lynch every single member of reddit
fp is so much better
You seriously need to move on...
If I remember correctly back when we had custom forums there was one for loli or something.
It was removed very quickly.
Wasn't that 4chan? It had a loli board that was removed within a week.
I don't think 'free-speech' counts for things that are perverse, disrespectful, stupid and just plain wrong.
A very subjective difference.
http://www.reddit.com/r/circlejerk is the only good subreddit
Personally, I go for the SFW Porn Network (for those of you who haven't seen it, it's not what you think). r/technology, r/movies, and r/aww are pretty good as well.
Still, much as I like the website, I can't say I hold much respect for the administration. Free speech is all well and good, but flatly refusing to let any kind of moral bias dictate what kind of subreddits should and should not exist is...admirable in some ways, but immoral in far too many others.
Also Facepunch thread simulator MKII?
"We stand for free speech and won't ban anything!"
"What, some other site is criticizing us? Let's ban all the content from that site and the users posting it!"
Preserving free speech, eh Reddit?
Let's start taking bets. How long till the CIA or FBI decided to come down on them?

What they're doing is technically not illegal, so I don't think they're worried about the government.
Wasn't that 4chan? It had a loli board that was removed within a week.
/l/
it was removed a few weeks/months after creation
it was only for drawn stuff mind you, anything real has been and is a huge offense on 4chan
Okay, seriously, creepshots are NOT "freedom of speech". There is no expression of opinion here, it's just, plain and simple, invasion of privacy.
In the end, it's their decision if they want to be known as "the concentration point of all the creeps on the internet".
And I know that there is a large amount of people on Reddit that behave differently, of course. But honestly, how many other popular forums do you know that allow things such as creepshots and jailbait?
Not that many, I assure you.
I think this attitude the people who run Reddit have is going to get them arrested one day somehow. I can smell it a mile off.

Never forget!

Basically this. Same thing with r/lolicon actually.
