dark ages.
right.
He talks pretty, but he hasn't even gotten rid of DADT. He may care about gays, but he doesn't seem to be lifting a finger to actually do things in their favor.
It's not like he has the power to do much because as soon as he does asswipes label it "underhanded backroom deals that the 'American people' don't support".
Hah, American people what a joke.
dark ages.
right.
Because big buildings and fancy cars make you all much better people because of how advanced we are, right?
That "lessens the population" argument is so cold and heartless, it's just plain awful.
Yeah, even though the planet can only sustain 3 billion and we're at 6 billion and growing, that's such a heartless argument.
Yeah, even though the planet can only sustain 3 billion and we're at 6 billion and growing, that's such a heartless argument.
Uh

Silly Obama what are you doing.
Yeah, even though the planet can only sustain 3 billion and we're at 6 billion and growing, that's such a heartless argument.
The planet can sustain far more than 3 billion, or even 6 billion.
Good, finally America getting out of the dark ages, but I feel even in less homophobic countries, the word gay is thrown around too much.
Yes because comparing current America to a time when homosexual's would be executed merely for being gay is definitely logical.
He talks pretty, but he hasn't even gotten rid of DADT. He may care about gays, but he doesn't seem to be lifting a finger to actually do things in their favor.
DADT is due to be scrapped at the start of the 2011 fiscal year. Shit takes time.
I doubt he'll try civil partnerships or same-sex marriage at least until his second term, that would be like healthcare reform all over again.

rampant unfettered capitalism in the midst of a recession gripped by intolerance is not a golden age

That's some nice trollin', president.
Good on Obama, we're getting one step closer to curbing the population crisis and inciting tolerance amongst humankind. (more gay couples means less breeding couples)
So if we legalize gay marriage, gay people will stop having sex with women? Or will more people turn gay?
The earth is already getting shot to shit, robbed of all it's natural resources. What's going to happen when we run out of minerals, oil, or cropland?
Good on Obama, we're getting one step closer to curbing the population crisis and inciting tolerance amongst humankind. (more gay couples means less breeding couples)
This is so wrong
1. There is no population crisis in USA
2. Even if there were, gays aren't going to think "oh well we can't get married with other gays, let's go make babies like we are straight". It's the same amount of gay people, same amount of straight people, regardless whether or not those gay folks can be couples

Why do you give a shit about that anyway?
That's gay.
hahaha you're just upset that someone in a position of power is calling out your bigoted-ass opinions

Not in the usa, but in other countries. What about India, and China?
The earth simply can't keep up with the USA's level of living, we spend way too many resources. And even if it's somewhat sustainable now, it's not going to be when every single country in the world lives like us.
If you want peace on earth, everyone has to be equal. Everyone has to have good living standards. Obviously, the US isn't going to lower it's living standards, so instead other countries will have to raise theirs. And if the planet can't support that, then the easiest way is to lower population.

Y'know, we could always make big platforms dedicated to cropland in the air or something, it isn't impossible.

Yeah that's nice and all but legalizing gay marriage won't lower population. Making gay marriage legal won't make more people gay.
And "it will fight overpopulation" shouldn't be the main argument for same-sex marriage. "It's a god damned human right" should be the main argument for same-sex marriage.
