that's ludicrous
So is the idea of running out of crop land, if we have to do it we have to do it, we'll find a way [editline]01:46PM[/editline]
Yeah, you get on that.
Oh yeah sorry for answering your question By the way, we have plenty of crop land
Y'know, we could always make big platforms dedicated to cropland in the air or something, it isn't impossible.
You haven't even thought your plan through. Good luck growing and plants without topsoil. How are you going to grow them on giant platforms without any soil.
You haven't even thought your plan through. Good luck growing and plants without topsoil. How are you going to grow them on giant platforms without any soil.
I was imagining a big bowl like structure, so you'd fill it with soil and yeah. It's a silly idea, I know, but it isn't impossible.
I was imagining a big bowl like structure, so you'd fill it with soil and yeah. It's a silly idea, I know, but it isn't impossible.
but that would block out the light for the crops below, so you've just raised cropland up in the air

yo let's stop talking about ridiculous comic book technology and get back on the subject: gay marriage should be allowed because it's a human right, not because it will "fight overpopulation", which it wouldn't even do anyway
Atta boy America! You'll be in my good book one day. Keep it up
yo let's stop talking about ridiculous comic book technology and get back on the subject: gay marriage should be allowed because it's a human right, not because it will "fight overpopulation", which it wouldn't even do anyway
Yes
You haven't even thought your plan through. Good luck growing and plants without topsoil. How are you going to grow them on giant platforms without any soil.

Hydroponics (from the Greek words hydro water and ponos labor) is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil. Terrestrial plants may be grown with their roots in the mineral nutrient solution only or in an inert medium, such as perlite, gravel, or mineral wool. Researchers discovered in the 19th century that plants absorb essential mineral nutrients as inorganic ions in water. In natural conditions, soil acts as a mineral nutrient reservoir but the soil itself is not essential to plant growth. When the mineral nutrients in the soil dissolve in water, plant roots are able to absorb them. When the required mineral nutrients are introduced into a plant's water supply artificially, soil is no longer required for the plant to thrive. Almost any terrestrial plant will grow with hydroponics. Hydroponics is also a standard technique in biology research and teaching.

Crop Hydroponic Normal (yield per acre) Wheat 8,000 lb. 5,600 lb. Oats 3,000 lb. 1,850 lb. Why would anyone complain about lesbians?
Synthetic light.
but then you'd need fuel, which would either be horribly inefficient solar panels/wind farms or fossil fuels which release particulates or nuclear. I suppose you could go nuclear.
but then you'd need fuel, which would either be horribly inefficient solar panels/wind farms or fossil fuels which release particulates or nuclear. I suppose you could go nuclear.
Solar Panels will one day get better, and we're talking about big platforms dedicated to plant growth because there's not much crop land, so this is pretty far into the future.
OBAMA BELEVES PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE RIGHTS?!? Shut. Down. Everything.
but then you'd need fuel, which would either be horribly inefficient solar panels/wind farms or fossil fuels which release particulates or nuclear. I suppose you could go nuclear.
You really should look into the subject more before trying to shoot holes in it. We already have lights like this, they are called full spectrum lights. They are already used in gardening and hydroponics. They use electricity like normal light bulbs, and with hydroponics, any crop can be grown at any time. There are issues with normal farming that you're not caring about, like fertilizer runoff or the amount of energy it takes to water so many acres of plants and how much of that water is just going to waste.
Good on Obama, we're getting one step closer to curbing the population crisis and inciting tolerance amongst humankind. (more gay couples means less breeding couples)
uh that doesn't make any sense. people aren't going to be turning gay because of this.
Good on Obama, we're getting one step closer to curbing the population crisis and inciting tolerance amongst humankind. (more gay couples means less breeding couples)
I'm bi, you're dumb, shut up.
Vertical farming is hydroponics on a large scale. :bang:
Do I have to fetch the Penn & Teller "Shut the fuck up" clip for you people? This is a thread about gay marriage, stop talking about ridiculous shit.
“It's just hateful rhetoric,” LaBarbera added. “It’s a different kind of hate, to be sure, but it is hate – he hates our Judeo-Christian tradition.”
Fuck off and die!
Good on Obama, we're getting one step closer to curbing the population crisis
wow what a humanist
“It's just hateful rhetoric,” LaBarbera added. “It’s a different kind of hate, to be sure, but it is hate – he hates our Judeo-Christian tradition.”
Look at that, they're getting it. The "leader of the free world" hates their archaic beliefs. Cool.
funny enough, yesterday I was in a mock parliament sort of thing, and there was quite a bit of conservative-trolling going on. I got laughed at for making a statement about teaching acceptance of LGBTQ and racial groups, which I found hilarious. Maybe Obama's sitting in his office/living room right now switching between :smug: and :v: [editline]08:35PM[/editline] Also, why the fuck is the term families in quotations, in reference to same sex parents?
Look at that, they're getting it. The "leader of the free world" hates their archaic beliefs. Cool.
Why does he hate our hate so much
Also, why the fuck is the term families in quotations, in reference to same sex parents?
They're scare quotes. The article (which is from a conservative site) is trying to imply that same-sex headed families aren't real families.
Obama is wrong no one should let people make stupid choices like becoming gays and lesbians!
<Westburo picture> dark ages.
That's a cheap shot, no one in their right mind would agree to what they think.
They're scare quotes. The article (which is from a conservative site) is trying to imply that same-sex headed families aren't real families.
Oh, I thought it was from CNN for a second. :v: Should've caught on after they had to explain what LGBT meant.
