So a different intepretation/sect of the same thing has a disagreement with another different intepretation/sect of the same thing, hmm, sounds familiar.
Meet me at the park. Bring your light sabers - it is on now bitches. We will duel to see who has the best sect.
Next week: Man removed from grocery store property for bowing before the spaghetti.
The beauty of Jediism is that it is our own personal religion. We can see teachings as we see fit, although some do choose to wear the robe as part of Jediism. Robes are usually only worn for ceremonial purposes or meditation. This person should indeed have been allowed to keep his hood up, though at the same time he should have demonstrated the patience to lower his hood and go about his day. The hooded robe is not a prequisite.
I hope I helped you.
To YOU the hood is not prerequisite, but to him it might be and since you say people can see teachings as they see fit, then it's up to him.
The very definition of Religion though means that Jediism isn't one, as a religion is the sharing of a comman belief (and teachings) amongst many people.

As I said...the teachings are his own to interpret. I will not pass judgement and if you read my previous post he should have been the greater person.
How does that mean we aren't a religion? There are many Jedi throughout the world, we are just not publicised. Jediism is a religion.
This guy is a fucking fool for crying just beacuse he got told to take down his hood because it's against his "religion"
I'm hoping that he was making a statement about the inherent absurdity in certain religious traditions and how we shouldn't have to adapt our society to them just because someone believes it.
I've got my doubts, however.
A religion is not many people sharing their own individual interpretaion, what Jedism is, is a individualstic, interpretational belief system, not a religion.
Alright, Some religions are divided into differing sects based on the sects interpretation, but it doesn't then go on to have every member interpret their own way of things.

All of our beliefs are based upon the same teachings, upon the force and many other confounding aspects.
I cannot provide you with detailed answers as I am still in training. For this I apologise, but we are a religion.

I think it was more likely that he was being a stubborn cunt and making a scene just because he's a giant nerd who thinks that Jedi's are real.

The Bible can also be interpreted metaphorically, or literally. As with every other teaching from most other religions.

Jedi's are real.
It has nothing to do with being a nerd.
Star wars was created on the basis of the same group of philosophies, and by inspiration of these philosophies.

And yet those teachings are down to individual interpretation.
and christ can't you let Jedi's to become even semi mythical before spouting out a religion about it.
They never existed, they're fictional, get over it, whilst trying to follow the ideals of film characters can be admirable, it's kind of pathetic to name yourself as if you are them.

Naming yourself after a fictional set of characters is pretty nerdy, and no, Star Wars was created on the basis of George Lucas wanting to have a Flash Gordon/serial style adventure movie.
Hell, I'm admit I'm nerdy to the point of obsessiveness about Warhammer 40K but you don't see me going around saying I'm a space Marine do you?

Wait wasn't Jediism around before Star Wars as stated earlier?
Wait wasn't Jediism around before Star Wars as stated earlier?
Indeed the basis was around before.
I just apologise again that I cannot answer these questions as fully as the masters can.

Jediism is a pantheistic new religious movement based upon the philosophical and spiritual ideas of the Jedi as depicted in Star Wars media.
I'd guess not given that it'd be hard to base things off something that doesn't exist.

No they're not, you silly billy.
People who say shit like that are also the scourge of this world.
Oh sorry babe, did i hit a nerve?
Bible basher detected.

Yes, we are.
I honestly don't know what to think of this...

How could Jedism be around before Jedi's were invented huh? That's like me saying Tutenkhamun was christian.

No, I'm agnostic. Atheist like yourself who insult religion whenever they have the opportunity are no better than religious fanatics who try to convert people. If you want to prove a point, be the better man.

I've told you, I am still studying. I don't know how to answer such questions.

Shouldn't what the religion originated from be one of the very first things you learn?
Ahh I remember hearing about this on Nonprophets. They made the point that maybe they wanted him to take it off so the security cameras could see his face. It's like- You can't walk into a bank with a skimask on.

It doesn't take me to become a practising and learning christian or muslim that the respective religions didn't exist until after their founding figures/influences.
Shouldn't what the religion originated from be one of the very first things you learn?
Yes, it is. It is stated on the main page of the website, although it's down at the moment...It's been having trouble today or else I would recite what it says. :frown:
