Surely the tie-in with a fictional movie series cheapens any romanticism you can have about this cult?
It does not bother me.
It is a collective noun, which has simply grown upon us as the teachings are so similar to the ones portrayed in Star Wars.
You called yourself a Jedi, you named yourself, if a name is not important, why call yourself a jedi then
I think what he means is you don't have a high metachlorian count.
Regardless of you mocking me. Earlier I prayed for both you and your passed-friend Agoat. I still hope you are doing ok.
It's not a cult, they don't believe in a god. It is a philosophy, like Taoism or Buddhism, except without gods. I think.
Regardless of you mocking me. Earlier I prayed for both you and your passed-friend Agoat. I still hope you are doing ok.
I wasn't mocking you. I'm serious, they're just saying you aren't a jedi from star wars. :(
You called yourself a Jedi, you named yourself, if a name is not important, why call yourself a jedi then
It is a name which has stuck. The name lets people know who we are. We do not care about being mocked. The word 'Jedi' is used to collectively describe individuals who believe in the same beliefs that we share. (i.e the force). When I say the force, I don't mean telekinesis etc.
"They weren't listening to me and were rude. They had three people around me. It was intimidating.
What kind of pansy Jedi is he?
It's not a cult, they don't believe in a god. It is a philosophy, like Taoism or Buddhism, except without gods. I think.
You are correct. [editline]09:29PM[/editline]
I wasn't mocking you. I'm serious, they're just saying you aren't a jedi from star wars.
I know I am not. I do not wish to purchase a toy lightsaber, as that would be ridiculous. I am, however training in Aikido. Which is a beautiful non-aggressive marshall art which takes the aggressors energy and reflects it back upon them. What is the use in claiming to be able to defend others, if ones self cannot even be defended?
I was just saying that that's what they're saying.
I was just saying that that's what they're saying.
Alright. How are you feeling, by the way? After your unfortunate loss, so sad.
Holy shit. This is awesome.
Alright, Some religions are divided into differing sects based on the sects interpretation, but it doesn't then go on to have every member interpret their own way of things.
And yet they do anyway... I know many people who pick and choose out of the bible what they're going to believe, and hell, many of the commonly agreed upon beliefs of various religions, after being proven wrong, are simply changed. Jediism is no less a religion than Christianity or Islam. EDIT: BTW, I'm not a Jedi, I just fail to see why it's any less valid a belief.
I will repeat. If anybody would like to talk to me about how I go about my life as a Jedi, how I feel, what my routines are, beliefs in general I will be more than willing to commune over MSN: down_with_the_sickness@live.co.uk I may not as yet be equipped to defend, I can certainly openly discuss it. Flak Attack, thankyou for your kind words. [editline]09:44PM[/editline] The website is also up now; http://templeofthejediorder.org/
Yoda - "Use the force Luke, I've ran out of lubricant." I was reading over the posts. I'm worried about some people to be honest.. Also the definition of religion. 1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. 2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion. 3. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions. 4. the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion. 5. the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith. 6. something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience: to make a religion of fighting prejudice. 7. religions, Archaic. religious rites. No matter what way you look at it, it is classified as a religion. As stupid as it may seem. But sitting around trying to play it off as a original idea is stupid. It is based off of a fucking movie for Christ sakes, get real will you.

In my opinion, Jediism makes sense.
I hate Jedi. They killed Jango.
I hate Jedi. They killed Jango.
They also killed you...
They also killed you...
You need to brush up on your Jedi history, Padawan.
You need to brush up on your Jedi history, Padawan.
Are you kidding? The battle in episode 2 where Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme are to be executed, Mace Windu kills Jango in the huge battle... Boba is the son.
Are you kidding? The battle in episode 2 where Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme are to be executed, Mace Windu kills Jango in the huge battle... Boba is the son.
That's right.
Oh wait the first post I got the names mixed up. :v:
Fail. (User was banned for this post (""Fail"" - TH89))
Fail.
Good contribution. Let adults talk will you?
A religion is not many people sharing their own individual interpretaion.
Actually I'm fairly sure that one thing with Christianity is that the bible is up to the Christians own interpretation. They use the teachings of Jesus in a way which suits the situation. This is the same as Jediism they are following the teachings/beliefs/whatever and interpreting them their own way and using them in a context for whatever situation they may be in. Next, how do you know whether or not Jediism was around before the Star Wars films. You can't possibly know if George Lucas based the Jedi off of these collective teachings or not because even if he was asked he would most likely say that he thought them up himself, if he didn't people would think less of him after all. Anyhow, it seems from the article as though Tesco were still mocking him even when talking to the media:
"Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Luke Skywalker all appeared hoodless without ever going over to the Dark Side and we are only aware of the Emperor as one who never removed his hood. "If Jedi walk around our stores with their hoods on, they'll miss lots of special offers."
I mean what sort of company says that instead of saying it is their policy to disallow head wear in their stores. Very unprofessional in my opinion.
Good contribution. Let adults talk will you?
Don't try to be pompous with me okay? You're the one that "follows the way of the jedi" so you're in no position to get cute with people. What a joke, and what makes it worst you try to rationalize with people about it and you can't even properly defend it, Which you said yourself.
I may not as yet be equipped to defend, I can certainly openly discuss it. Flak Attack, thankyou for your kind words.
Go figure.
So was jediism before or after I just came back
I never knew there was an International Church of Jediism. Anywhere.
The Twitards formed a cult over their favorite vampire, I suppose it's only fitting to create a cult based on Star Wars. If only they recruited award-winning science fiction author L Ron Hubbard to their cult...
