How Apple will convince you to buy a smartwatch (AKA a good read for skeptical people)

It just sounds like a lot of hating on apple for finally releasing an apple watch that works with the iPhone. Yet when android manufacturers release an android watch, it's praised for it's beauty.
Reminds me a lot of the watch I convinced my parents to buy me back in 4th grade so I could take pictures of girls naked and share them with the only other kid I knew who had one.

(haha jk we just secretly took pictures of peoples dicks in the changing room)
My parents still have one of those, all it needs is a battery and it's good to go
I'd rather have a good looking mechanical watch

The LG G Watch R is pretty nice looking if you want that look to it
They aren't meant to replace a phone or tablet. That's a misconception. They are intended to work with the phone and augment it.
Ah I see, that makes a bit more sense. Dunno if I'd ever convince myself to buy one though cuz I dunno if the price point makes the augmentation worth it
My moto 360 is coming monday. I'm so happy I chose it.
To be perfectly honest, I'm not sold on the circular screen. I'd rather go for a rectangular one like the Apple watch.
Also that shitty black bar at the bottom.
It'll happen eventually. I just don't want to see "iPay accepted" in 50% of the shops and "google wallet" in the other 50%. Hopefully they're compatible so you can use whatever wherever
Also that shitty black bar at the bottom.
To be entirely fair and honest, the Apple Watch has a black bezel.

Here's the watch I'm wearing now

It's battery time is several years. I can shower, swim, and dive with it. It tells me the time and it looks fine. If I need more, I can reach into my pocket, pull out my phone, which has a much larger screen and is easy for my clumsy finger tips to tap shit. It can take a beating by carelessly bumping and knocking into things, and it also costs a fraction of what the apple watch costs.
How can Apple's watch compare to that? It's $350, it can't get any more wet than when it's raining, you have to take it off every day to charge it, and aside from telling the time, everything it can do is easier to do with a phone
I just don't get it. It doesn't seem practical in any way

it's especially made useless by the fact that my phones background actually tells me the time and day + date + battery life
Hell, my watch and my smart phone together cost 1/3 what the Apple Watch costs
Then it isn't for you, and you shouldn't buy one.
I'm not sure what you're expecting to hear, honestly. This argument keeps coming up, and the only answer I can give is "If you don't want an Apple Watch, don't buy one."
Some people might like the functionality of the thing, some people might want to buy one, and that's fine. I'm not sure why your situation would be universal, and I'm fairly certain it isn't. So you have a watch you like, and a phone. That's great. Keep using it. Don't buy an Apple Watch, because you don't need or want one.
But please, for the love of God, stop using that argument. It's not like we haven't heard it before, you're not unique in that line of thinking.

It's just a hipster money grab with no added functionality. It doesn't do anything better, only worse. That's the argument. A lot of things benefit from being made smaller and smaller, but interfaces that human beings have to use can only be made so small before they lose their purpose

Isn't it still a bit early to say that, considering the thing won't be out for another 6-8 months, and no human alive outside of Apple's headquarters has actually used one yet?
I should also point out that this exact same line of reasoning is used ad nauseum every time Apple releases a new product, and you know what happens?
They break sales records.
Now, I don't know much about the economy, but I'm willing to say that if something breaks sales records, there's very obviously a demand, and people very obviously see a reason to buy it. And I don't think that boils down quite so nicely to a blind following with too much money. I don't think people are quite so simple.
If you'd like to think for yourself, and make some actual arguments, I'll entertain a debate. However, again, these same words have been used by thousands of people after every Apple release. I'm not interested in combating stale arguments.
A watch you have to click off of sleep mode to check the time? Jobs wouldn't of let this happen...
It turns on automatically when you tilt your wrist, and it was in development before Jobs died. He left four years of product pipeline that he had personally approved.
He wouldn't of approved the outcome.

Even Google is unimpressed
Better yet, a self winding mechanical watch that is mostly transparent so you can see the gears.
HNNNNGGGG.
A bit like this?

They're called skeleton watches.
I wouldn't want a smart watch, they'd be pretty easy to break i imagine.
My watch occasionally takes a hit but it still works good.
How long is the battery life on this thing? Personally Id never want a watch that I have to recharge every couple of days, or it will just stop being a watch overall.

It's like they stopped giving a fuck because they know people will buy the new iPhone no matter what.
