If Apple was a cool guy, it would make her songs (or a song) free for like a few days. But apple is not a bro.
Remember when it was somehow media worthy for like two weeks when the beatles made their music available online?
Doesn't her record label own the rights, not Apple; so they must negotiate on a price?
CDs are better anyways, ripping to FLAC is literally the best thing since fucking sliced bread
Let's see how they'd like it if companies doubled the price for iPhones after Steve Jobs died.
It was just Steve Jobs, this is WHITNEY HOUSTON we are talking about here!
Just like how they milked off of MJ's death massively I never want to be famous, way over-rated.
The record companies increased the price, not Apple. Read the article people.
lol who would buy her album because she's dead anyway "oh fuck, whitney houston's just died, guess this means i have to buy everything that has her name on it now!"
Because people think they're honoring her by doing that. It's ridiculous.
Yes, and while that may be true, no one stepped in to say "Actually, this is wrong" and changed it And thus they continue to be assholes
I don't think anyone at apple thought "oh hey, she died. I should go recode the itunes pricing code, then push an update, which would be a huge hassle for everyone involved BECAUSE MORALS." Let alone only 30 min after she died.
How the fuck is this even surprising coming from apple?
lol who would buy her album because she's dead anyway "oh fuck, whitney houston's just died, guess this means i have to buy everything that has her name on it now!"
I did that with Michael Jackson. I thought it'd be nice.
I never understand the average person Some famous person that has little to no effect on your life dies and suddenly you want to buy their products? Why? It's almost like dying is the best way to sell your product
Stay classy Apple
It's awful when people who didn't give a shit about an artist when they were alive SUDDENLY loves them soooo much once they're dead. So I for one, really don't mind them doing this.
You exceedingly vile FUCKS.
To all the people who are suddenly buying her albums, tell me how you've been Whitney Houston fans all your life.
I like how no-one gives a fuck about African Children but one celebrity dies and everyone cries.
Who cares, I would do that its a smart way to make more money. People will complain but they will still buy it.

It's almost like dying is the best way to sell your product
all they're doing is lining the pockets of share-holders in itunes, record companies etc anyway and i'd probably be more disrespected if people felt they could only buy my album once i'm dead instead of still alive :/
Can somebody explain to me why it's such a bad thing to be suddenly interested in her work once she's died? What if you want to purchase her music to simply be informed as to who she is and what her style is? Also, I don't really think it's right to double the price as soon as she dies.
Fuck off Apple! Jesus christ, you are worth a fucking country at the moment. ISN'T THAT ENOUGH? This is outright despicable.
Steam: New update->higher demand->cheaper iTunes: Dead->higher demand->more expensive
I'm actually somewhat okay with this, since only the easily influenced will jump to buy these so soon - it's just iTunes manipulating the easily manipulated. The people who're going to buy this for the sole reason Houston's died are stupid, and iTunes it exploiting that. One's an idiot, the other's smart enough to take advantage of that. Though for anyone who geniunely wants to buy it because they like it that sucks.
I like how no-one gives a fuck about African Children but one celebrity dies and everyone cries.
That's a really dumb thing to say (1$ says you read it from Facebook). You can't really be sad about something you are not informed about too well. And those kids aren't celebrities. If we take this path of yours, I could bash you about how you didn't cry after my great-granmother died. Also, saying no-one cares is ignorant. The parents of those children care, many world wide aid systems care (Red Cross for example), and people like you care. And that's a good thing.
I heard somewhere where Itunes didn't change the price, the company that had rights to the song did, or something along the lines of that. Not entirely positive
I hate the sudden loving and craze for any artist that dies. Jackson was loathed before he died, but then he became a fucking saint.

Rest in peace, Amy ♥" Whitney Houston alive: "Stupid crackwhore. What a fucking moron." Whitney Houston dead: "I am in tears, she was taken so soon. Her voice will live on. She was so wonderful and talented."
Pretty much nails it.
I hate the sudden loving and craze for any artist that dies. Jackson was loathed before he died, but then he became a fucking saint.
sudden? were you born in 2006?
Oh my god demand went up so the market reacted and raised prices
The supply and demand principle makes no sense when the supply is unlimited... That's not as if Whitney Houston's songs were becoming rarer.
Oh well, gotta sell price where marginal revenue = marginal cost :eng101:
Disgusting that people don't torrent but instead use the service of apple.
