New James Bond 'GoldenEye' game to debut this month

They're remaking it again? I couldn't even finish the Wii one because the controls without the stupid deluxe classic thing are absolutely retarded. Nothing will beat the original. Goldeneye:Source comes close with it's multiplayer because it stays relatively true to the original game's style, just upping the graphics. I wish GE:S had a singleplayer, that'd probably be the closest we'd ever see to a good Goldeneye remake.
Why does everyone make fun of rouge agent I thought it wasn't that bad.
I remember getting annoyingly stuck at some part with tanks and a dam and giving up on it. It was a good game, but from what i remember it was hard as fuck.

use a Gamecube controller.
007 died for me as soon as Casino Royale was made.
I'll still probably end up buying the game though.

casino royale was a great film
quantum of solace was absolute shit though
Well that's what it WAS.
It got released on June 2010!
Apparently this will be an even shittier PS3 and 360 version.
Fuck you activision, fuck you very much.
Key word there. It's Kotick and his company, remember? They won't be happy until every single game series they have the rights to is run straight into the ground after they've made a buck.
Same Remake
Made for the other consoles who were QQ about not getting it.
Fuck you Activison.
Goldeneye is my favorite Bond movie :3:
I wish I'd had the game though :smith:
I was hoping the article was going to talk about remaking the goldeneye rogue agent game.
Oh great another shitty shooter game from Activision.
So I was playing Vice City the other day, it's aged, but it's fun. The colours are vibrant, the music is brilliant, it never takes itself too seriously and it just lets you enjoy it how you want. For instance, one mission I ended up having a golf cart bumper duel with a criminal and his henchman. This is something that doesn't happen in most games nowadays - fun has been sucked out in order to push forward "realism" and linear heavily scripted games.
So, this Goldeneye will not have the loose nature of the original, levels where you can move around and explore. No, it will be another boring linear shooter game, will probably be grey/brown and will have a load of explosions & scripted events. It will be 6 hours long and have a CoD-clone multiplayer which will die out weeks after release.
In a mission on this new Goldeneye, I will be forced down corridors and hide behind cover. In a mission in Vice City I was told to cause a riot by starting a fight with some workers. So I got a car, ran over the entire riot, realised I had no weapon, drove to a gun shop, drove back, ran around the neighbourhood finishing off the rest of the riot, and then destroyed the trucks I was meant to. I was never forced in by invisible walls, I was never told I had to go this way, or do it this way. This is the difference between modern day games and games not even 10 years ago - everything is linear, everything is scripted, and everything is worse off because of it.
Yes, there are many exceptions, but if this ominous trend continues, well, enjoy your video "games".

I like how you're just talking out of your ass.
Wii Goldeneye actually had a lot of openness compared to other shooters. There are multiple paths and objectives to complete, and you can go gung-ho and kill everyone or you can use stealth kills. There's also a difficulty that reverts the game back to the classic health/armor system.
and it's funny because the original goldeneye was fairly linear as well
Who here remembers that Goldeneye "sequel" gamecube game, Goldeneye: Rouge Agent? Just fucking makes the main character have a gold eye and BAM they can call it GOLDENEYE. That was such a lame attempt to cash in on the N64 original.
They should atleast get RARE to make a sequel/remake
So we're going to pretend the Wii thing never happened?
Sounds fine to me.
They've tried this twice now, and fucked it both times. They have no shame.

Bond!
Take out that helicopter with the Stinger Launcher!

Rare isn't what it used to be. They should give it Free Radical Desi.. I mean Crytek. But since Crytek is with EA nowadays, that won't happen.
Why don't they remake nightfire

Did you even play Rogue Agent? It was in no way a remake of Goldeneye.

Love multiplayer in that game.
I hate that newer bond games don't have options for bots. There is nothing like playing 4 humans vs. 6 bots with all their stats juiced.

Yeah, this guy is right, the Wii Goldeneye game did have the openness of the 64 game,
I enjoyed the Wii game, and I enjoyed the 64 game.

Why are you comparing an open-world, sandbox game with a mainly linear first-person shooter?
Also if I remember correctly the original Goldeneye wasn't much for exploration. I mean there were a few big rooms here and there and a fair number of rooms to walk into but nothing was in any of them except for exploding chairs and crates.
Unless you're talking about the ability to walk anywhere on the map even after finishing off a section and not being pushed along sort of on rails. Goldeneye had that. Except for the tank level. And the train level.
