The next election winner has been leaked, he's a man known as Bepp Slatter
Never heard of him but I hope he's good
Goal for team america world police, you're welcome Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia
Apparently Blatter is just exploiting a glitch where you can resign and get reelected infinite times until your term is hundreds of years long, FBI anticheat will get him soon though
Let's just switch 2022 from Qatar to ANYWHERE FUCKING ELSE.
1,200 people have already died in the construction of the stadium. I don't care where you put it, just not Qatar! Holy shit, FIFA should be required to pay reparations. This shit is practically a war crime.
source is not that I don't bevlie you
This feels less like a decision on his part, and more like a decision by other powerful entities in FIFA to use him as a scapegoat. Sure, Blatter is gone, but at worst he was only a participant in the corruption, and at best he turned a blind eye. Let's assume the worst: that he actively participated (which is probable). Even then he couldn't have been more than one person in a much larger, far more corrupt organization.
This is FIFA firing someone in order to divert press attention from their activities, nothing more.
FIFA should have just setup a lobbying firm on K Street if they wanted to avoid US reprisal. Americans hate bribery, yuck, quid pro quos are gross, but giving a senator $10,000 in campaign contributions and having said senator support you with legislation is lobbying which is fine.

his resignation only raises even more awareness though

i honestly don't think we have enough senators that even know what soccer is, let alone that others call it football. FIFA should be run out of the US specifically because we don't care enough to corrupt it
the US is uniquely positioned to unbiasedly rule over this sport and simultaneously not give a fuck about it
Football is now soccer
god bless merica
now i expect john oliver next episode to walk on stage with adias shoes, while eating off the dollar menu, and drinking a bud light lime.
Coca Cola has responded - "wahey fuck off dickhead"
Fifa sponsor Coke has welcomed Sepp Blatter's decision to resign, describing it as "a positive step" for football.
Mr Blatter has said he will resign as president of football's governing body Fifa amid a corruption scandal.
Coke said it believed the move would help "Fifa to transform itself rapidly" into a "21st Century institution".
The drinks giant added that it expected Fifa would continue to "act with urgency" to address the issues raised.

Qatar sounds like the worst place in the world to play soccer other than Antartica, or the surface of the sun.
Yeah the sun is by far the worst place in the world to play soccer :/
Praise be to John Oliver
The future is bright, the final barrier to humanity's progress has been removed

And now he is officially under investigation by the US authorities according to reports.
Fifa president Sepp Blatter is being investigated by US officials as part of their inquiry into corruption at the world football body, US media say.
This keeps getting better and better and better.
Run Sepp, run while you still can. Hope the wrinkly bastard gets what he deserves.
America saves Europe once again

You're all welcome
Now I just hope that now that he's booted everybody goes "there, we did it", pats themselves on the back, and then ignores the fact that the whole thing is corrupt as shit and not just him.
I hope they all squeal on each other to try and get reduced sentences, they're all old farts, they're probably going to die in prison if they get a reasonable sentence.
