isnt sony doing pretty poorly or something?
imagine if nintendo bought sony (or at least the playstation sector)
They haven't profited, which makes sense at the moment considering how many units they've sold of a popular product that sells at a loss and still has yet to pay profits.

Nintendo PlayStation
for some reason that just sounds a lot better than sony playstation
Nintendo PlayStation

Because that's what it originally was in fact, the original Playstation was a Nintendo project for a CD-ROM drive for SNES.
It was even called the PlayStation. Unless you're alluding to that, in which case I'm sorry for not catching that.
Who would they even merge with?
Also, who the hell has enough money to acquire Nintendo?
A lot of people, have you seen their stock price?
I love how so many people think of a single game or series when certain companies are mentioned. NOT MUH PERSONA/METAL GEAR

You can't help but think of Mario or Zelda when somebody says Nintendo.
Those are like, the only two things I think of when someone says "Nintendo games"
It was even called the PlayStation. Unless you're alluding to that, in which case I'm sorry for not catching that.
It was actually called the "Play Station". Sony had to copyright PlayStation instead since that's legally considered a separate trademark and evidently they were too lazy to come up with a new name. :v:
A lot of people, have you seen their stock price?
The stock rebounded a few days later, in fact Nintendo's stock was still higher after the temporary drop than it was in 2013 around the same date.
Maybe its because people like said games/series and wouldn't like for them to be exclusive to consoles they either don't have or don't like.
Or am I supposed to care about those other games I don't/rarely play when certain companies are brought up. This is such a dense thing to say
Most people bought a Vita just for Persona 4 Golden, Persona fans are the type to buy a new console just for a remake of a game they could get on PS2. They'll go wherever the game is.
And yeah, basing your reaction to a company being acquired/merged on a single thing they make is pretty stupid. God forbid you have to play Shin Waifu Tensei on a Nintendo system. The horror.
Valvetendo
I've already sent a cheque in Gabe newell's name.
snibbedy snab :DDD
What if Nintendo is the one doing the acquiring.
That's what I'm thinking. Maybe they're gonna acquire some smaller publisher who owns a variety of good IPs. Like what if they bought Namco or Square Enix.
I'd rather they keep their hands off Namco, selfish wish of mine because I still want to get Tales games on the PS3 and in the future on PS4. :v:
I don't think Nintendo is going to buy anyone particularly big, it's more likely they're gonna buy companies that they've let handle some of their IPs. Next Level Games for instance apparently announced they're gonna go Nintendo 2nd party (they made the Mario Smash Football/Soccer games, Punch-Out Wii and Luigi's Mansion 2). I swear there was another third party that did a few Nintendo IPs but I absolutely cannot remember their name.
acquire sega
release nintendo dreamcast
Nintendo is going to get bought by Disney.
You heard it here first, folks.
A large part of me wants to say they should work out a way to raise funds from gamers as a thank you for being among the greats.
The largest part of me (my dick) knows that I'm being sentimental, and a company of that size wouldn't risk trying to get back in the game if they're talking about this now :(.
yeah cause a merger worked so well for Square.
:zipper:
:buckle:
thats the fault of wada, not the merger. enix wanted no part in the merger after the FF movie bombed
Who would they even merge with?

Valve, pokemon MMO with hats incoming.
They'll probably do something stupid and acquire some company to bruteforce into the mobile market for phones.
Please let Valve buy them -- Then they can make a modable free to play super smash bros game for EVERY platform -- cross play between Wii U and PC -- Have characters from every universe -- would be amazing

Level 3 Pidgey for 2 Buds no lowballing.
Why would Nintendo want anything to do with Valve? They're polar opposites. Valve is all about openness. Nintendo is about being closed and restricted.

I don't think Valve has nearly enough money to get close to buying nintendo. They're loaded as hell, their handhelds alone print so much money it's not even funny.
Someone mentioned this on another board I go to, but Shin'En would be a very smart acquisition. Among devs that aren't Nintendo themselves, they're second-to-none in squeezing as much potential as possible out of Nintendo hardware; what they've done with Jett Rocket, Nano Assault, and F.A.S.T. is nothing short of amazing, and it's especially impressive considering they're barely a step above being called an indie developer. And while they already exclusively develop for Nintendo platforms as it is, giving them access to Nintendo's resources and properties or bringing them on to help with Nintendo's own projects would be a very smart move.
I mean, look at what happened when Next Level Games were brought on for Punch-Out!! and Dark Moon; those games turned out fantastic. And NLG announced recently that they're also going Nintendo-only from now on, with rumor being that they've gone second-party. If that's the case, it was a smart buy on Nintendo's part and the same thing should be done with Shin'En. After F.A.S.T., can you imagine what they would do with an F-Zero UX?

Don't worry, Gabe can just take out a payday loan, then start selling hats on the streets to pay back his debt.
should they really be spending money like that? though if they acquired someone with a lot of great IPs (like capcom) it could be pretty hype
They buy Capcom and Platinum, and suddenly Platinum is able to use their old IP's.
Or does it not work that way? :v:
Merge with Valve!!!
I'd totally buy up a bit of Valvendo!!
Quick everyone ask Gaben to save Nintendo!
Or what about Sony? they seem to have gotten better lately.
