This isn't a good sign for the console market, I don't think xbox and playstation are gonna last long like this [editline]28th April 2016[/editline]
It'll just be a second model with various changes I bet. May not even look different.
Probably similar to what sony is doing with the improved ps4
Consoles usually get a refresh but it's usually just a smaller version and price cut I think both Sony and Microsoft are making a big mistake of these are different hardware. Either you split the player base as games stop supporting the old hardware or the refresh is pointless as games are held back on the new hardware as they must still run on the old and devs aren't going to want to spend that much more time Hopefully it's just a small refresh. The small black 360 was announced the same day it launched.
Or just set a demand for developers that games need to run on both with a minimum resolution/fps, and let the higher performance one have a little higher settings/fps/resolution. That seems to be the route Sony is going down, its what we've always done on PC, and there seems to be plenty of added value there. Sony can easily come to market with "It supports 4K streaming, 4k Blueray, and your games look slightly better" I don't know what Microsoft would be doing tho, its probably just a version with some production optimization.
why do people even buy consoles at this point. basically it's just a low end PC, you could get a starter PC for the same price tag. honestly just feels like a sales gimmick like a 3D television or something around those lines console exclusive games are now becoming less attractive because the titles are so burnt out.
xbox 720
Xbox Durango.
Xbox 360 - 360 + one + 3 - trash wrapped into a plastic box with an Xbox logo stamped on it = another garbage console that nobody wants. Kinect 720 coming to a store near you! pre-order now and you get the Master chief dildo collectionM and COD player model with more hair on his arms and on his legs

I would love to not have to buy consoles, but there's too many good games that aren't on PC. Especially if you are a Nintendo fan. I've already passed on PS and never cared about Xbox, but I would have missed out on tons of Nintendo games I love right now if I didn't get a WiiU.

Nintendo is the only system that has its soul still. lack of titles for consoles this year I can't warrant a reason to buy a console
Pepper;50216742']New consoles already?
Seems more like a "hardware update" to me. Basically the same console, except with more powerful gubbins under the hood than the earlier models.
What are some good exclusives for xbone and ps4?
Literally the only things that jump to mind are Forza, Infamous, and Bloodborne.
I'll give you that. Nintendo is the only system that has its soul still. lack of titles for consoles this year I can't warrant a reason to buy a console
Bloodborne, Ratchet and Clank, Infamous, Uncharted, Crackdown, Earth Defense Force, Sunset Overdrive. Just to name a few of the more high profile exclusives among both Playstation and Xbax.
What are some good exclusives for xbone and ps4?
Sunset Overdrive was pretty fucking fun, surprised it didn't receive a whole lot of attention.
Maybe they should call it XBOX TEN based on Windows 10
I honestly could see this being the case, the same thing is happening with the New 3DS, many games coming out work very poorly or not at all with the old 3DS which I happen to own. Nothing bites a customer in the ass more than arbitrarily and intentionally making the previous hardware 'obsolete' instead of finding a workaround. I'd prefer less graphical fidelity to not being able to play a game, and I'm sure as hell not going to buy the same console again just to play those games, it's completely fucked but money is money.
Its sort of justified in the 3DS's case. The o3GS is absolutely ancient in terms of hardware. The new one runs circles around it (single core, 128 MB vs 3 core, 256 MB for games). There really isn't much of a "workaround" when the system is starved for CPU and RAM. It was more to extend to lifespan of the platform since they weren't ready for a new system.
Sunset Overdrive was pretty fucking fun, surprised it didn't receive a whole lot of attention.
I played the crap outta that game. Mainly because it came with my console but as I played more of it I really started to enjoy it.
They have to, games aren't even able to get to 1080p and some are even going back to 720p which is awful one of which is the new Mirror's Edge
Not to mention 30fps lock

It just seems worse in the console's case because it's more expensive, has less exclusives, and seems more recently (due to the lack of titles so far). Overall, it's a bad concept but it's gonna succeed anyway because consumers are silly.
Xbox One: 2 Manchester United: 0

I fail to see how playstation and xbox will survive, even sony are releasing their exclusives on PC hopefully cause they are starting to realise PC gamers aren't gonna get their console to play their games so they might aswell make their money off of it.
why do people even buy consoles at this point. basically it's just a low end PC, you could get a starter PC for the same price tag.
A standard Xbox One can be as cheap as ~280 dollars, good luck finding a (non-used) PC with the same kind of performance for that price. For ~500 USD you can get a PC that's able to outperform both the One and the PS4, but that's only if you already have a Windows license, otherwise you'll have to buy that as well, adding another 100 dollars, I.E more than twice as expensive as an Xbox One http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ZY6Z4D

So what does this mean for current gen consoles? I got an xbox one years ago, have exactly 1 game for it. It's mostly been a blu ray player up til now but I've been patiently waiting for that next Rockstar console exclusive to be announced. Isn't this going to divide console gamers like ps3-ps4? I'm assuming it'll have more powerful hardware.

Whether or not XB1 decides to go the same route, we just don't know.

But yeah, the sales aren't as good as Steam most of the time and new games usually cost more too.

[editline]29th April 2016[/editline] The argument about getting a console over pc is still exclusives, but with the rise of indies and a lack of innovations from the console market, less people see a reason to buy a console. [editline]29th April 2016[/editline] The exclusives rely on people who are dedicated to their series, but the games are trying to reach other markets so they are sort of making themselves irrelevant by competing with themselves or losing interest.
Some people prefer consoles since they dont need much setting up unlike a PC Plus not having to mess with the settings to get a good framerate is a plus (for me, at least)
I dunno man consoles these days have just as much setting up as a PC with all the online shit going on. Plus if you buy a game on disc it now has install times comparable to downloading a PC game, and then often day1 patches and other downloads on top of it. Gone are the days of console simplicity, where you could just buy a box, plug it in to your TV, pop a game in and get right to playing within minutes.
