I dunno man consoles these days have just as much setting up as a PC with all the online shit going on. Plus if you buy a game on disc it now has install times comparable to downloading a PC game, and then often day1 patches and other downloads on top of it.
Gone are the days of console simplicity, where you could just buy a box, plug it in to your TV, pop a game in and get right to playing within minutes.
What I mean by setting up is the whole looking for pc parts, putting them togheter, make sure it works, overclock if you have a K cpu, then to all the game installing and then make sure the game works at a proper framerate
With the online+installs yeah I agree, they're pretty PC-ish in that regard
Although if you skip the patches you can play right away
Some people prefer consoles since they dont need much setting up unlike a PC
Plus not having to mess with the settings to get a good framerate is a plus (for me, at least)
Thats the idea, but when a lot of games do not get a good framerate, and when they learn that they can buy PCs that dont need much setting up I doubt consoles will be able to compete.

Most games provide a recommended setting setup so
are you kidding me I just got an Xbox One

Rip
Eighth generation definitely seems like it was more of a Lindy Hop than a true leap forwards. PC's beating out pretty much all of them power-wise, and mostly they're dependant on holding cool games hostage as a reason to get them. And none of them seem to have a real keyboard-and-mouse peripheral for specialist genres.
They're gonna need to pull out all of the stops to avoid utter humiliation in ninth generation. Hell, maybe they'd be able to stay "on curve" if they built their consoles to have easily interchangeable parts, so that they could put out better RAM cartridges and enhanced "booster cores" every year.

I think the vast majority of gamers don't care about framerate.

Console ones don't
PC gamers care a lot about framerate, specially on games like CSGO
What are they gonna make next? Xbox One II 3?
In my opinion I think they are making this to counter with PS4.5 that Sony will making.

5 FPS masterrace
PC's have cheaper digital games though (counting only steam's digital sales)
Consoles in the other side dont have many discounts on digital games, physical do iirc
Yeah used game sales, can't do that with PC
It kinda bothers me that I just bought my ps4 awhile ago and now both consoles are getting a hardware overhaul. I hope they run some kind of promotion where you can trade in your old console and get the new one at a reduced price or something.
i think it's really great that they're making an attempt to upgrade the consoles but it gets very expensive

You wont need to upgrade though
If you play only for the exclusives, you can stick the good ol ps4
If multiplatform is more your thing, go for the NEO
I think the vast majority of gamers don't care about framerate.
True but it doesnt make the situation for console gamers any better
There are literally like 15 good games for the Xbox one. Not even fantastic ones. How many games were released on the PS2 around the reveal of the PS3? Twenty four fucking hundred.
just make an Xbox 32X that plugs into the DVD tray and makes the hardware better it'll be awesome
I bet it's just a new hardware revision, to lower production costs.
5 FPS masterrace
More specifically, I mean that most console gamers are fine with 30 fps and sometimes even lower. I remeber GTA V had dips like that on the 360/PS3.
Done some talking, done some digging, customer field states Microsoft so this is from someone fulfilling an order from them, either factory or otherwise.
The weight stated is for "plastic parts", which coincides with the "Hard tool development", which is typically meant to be injection molding mold creation.
400K pieces a week is a ridiculous amount, so I imagine that's a smaller piece, not something big like a console outer casing.
Also there's the mention of Kingston.
Sabic is a chemical company, which fits together with plastic parts being produced.
Cheil is a Korean PR company, but both of those names could just be codenames.
But making another Xbox under the Xbox One name, doesn't really make any sense, and it would cause too much confusion among consumers, to ever get past the marketing guys. So, I'm saying new hardware revision aimed at reducing production costs.
I bet it's just a new hardware revision, to lower production costs.
Hopefully a revision that slims the hardware down so it doesn't look like a VCR.
Probably similar to what sony is doing with the improved ps4
Probably not.
Meanwhile PC gaming's standard is becoming 1440p and 2160p and even supports up to 144hz on some 1440p monitors
honestly consoles are so behind that they're just not going to catch up soon
Then again, 90% of console players use a 1080p TV and such, would you really need 1440p on a TV with just 1080p?
Then again, 90% of console players use a 1080p TV and such, would you really need 1440p on a TV with just 1080p?
you can buy higher res tv's or screens
most people owned 720p TV's. And then 1080p became mainstream and HD TV's become more and more common. Xbox 360 supported "HD" after a point and games started playing at 1080p.
supporting 1440p would only benefit consoles. At the moment many games only run at 720p, which was outdated a decade ago, and still support the soon to be outdated 1080p standard.
DirectX Box: All In One: Version 2
A standard Xbox One can be as cheap as ~280 dollars, good luck finding a (non-used) PC with the same kind of performance for that price.
For ~500 USD you can get a PC that's able to outperform both the One and the PS4, but that's only if you already have a Windows license, otherwise you'll have to buy that as well, adding another 100 dollars, I.E more than twice as expensive as an Xbox One

The problem with this argument is that people still generally need a computer in the house for things other than gaming that the consoles can't do.

Some people most likely own a laptop or something
Some people most likely own a laptop or something
And that should get factored into the cost.
If you're starting out with nothing, it's not "Console or PC," it's "Console and Weak PC or Good PC?"
