Pot is a drug, and I don't care how many of you say it isn't addicting it is.
Yay for pot smoking ignorance.
But seriously, I haven't met someone who smokes pot who said they were going to quit and just instantly quit for good. They always have that craving for going back, which means somewhere in their mind they are addicted to it.
Making them a druggie.
But people LEGALIZING WEED WILL NOT STOP GANG VIOLENCE.
You don't understand how gangs work apparently. This is the first thing people who want pot legalized say.
If you make marijuana legal the gangs can't make money off of it. So what do they do? They sell OTHER drugs, yes other drugs, they do exist.
The problem isn't solved or decreased at all. Yeah weed might not be sold illegally, but crack, speed, meth and prescription drugs and everything else still will be. Gangs have to make money, they aren't going to let a little thing like Weed being legalized put them out of business.
Think logically about this.
:downs: I quit the first few times I did it.
Shut up.
Just because the way it is done in California where you are from doesn't mean it is the same everywhere. I honestly don't care if they legalize it whatever, it is just one more thing cops have to watch for on the streets. Weed does have an effect on the mind and I wouldn't want people driving around high as hell.
Just like I don't want people driving around drunk as hell either. Smoking weed isn't even cool but you know if people think it is let them do it whatever.
This thread is about it getting legalized in CALIFORNIA no where else, so you just killed your own statement there, that is how it's done here, and as such it becoming legal will have no effect on how general society runs in California, so unless you've actually live/d out here in california and know the culture out here, then you really have no place to comment on how this will/will not work out
I've driven around fairly stoned twice and i was doing better at it (going 80mph on the highway mind you) then i normally do.
You're just attributing stupid people doing stupid shit to weed, it's those people that get glorified and made an example out of when they are the minority amongst the majority. It's Kinda like gays, there are shitloads of them, it's just the small really vocal group that gives most of them the bad rap with people.
And i can assure you, few people i know smoke weed because it's "cool" most of them do it to relax, help them with some problem(incase you haven't noticed weed's being used to treat a slew of illnesses). Only ones who would smoke it because its "cool" are the middle schoolers, and even then they hardly do it just because it's cool.
Fact: You concentrate more when you're high.
:flashfact: You're impaired whilst drunk
I'm dissapointed at the slow speed that this decended into a druggie vs non druggie shitstorm.
It's going to be a mess if they decide to regulate it. They'll have to take into account individuals' farms, set up equipment regulated for it, how much each individual is allowed to grow, etc. Isn't weed making money as it is because of it being illegal? You legalize it and the prices will drop like a rock.

Nope, it's gonna be legal to sell with the added tax, and free to grow.
The only reason why that would work is because most people don't wanna bother putting in the time and effort into growing it and only which to consume it in some way.

I was expecting it by now to have some new Dr. Mamba or what ever the fuck his name was pop up.
Legalize Weed, outlaw Tobacco :350:
Drinking should be illegal.
dude
LA is going to become a huge cloud of smoke
Legalizing marijuana would help out substantially with Cali's budget problems and the subsequent release of non-violent drug offenders would ease the strain on a prison system that is at 200% capacity.
Plus all the money that will be saved by not doing costly drug raids.

Legalize it in one state and other states may start to follow.
Probably not
California is pretty much it's own country when it comes to this stuff
Arnold, you sly dog you..
That people are still against this is incredible to me.
$1.4 billion? That's it? I mean, sure that's a lot of money, but certainly not enough to help California out of the rut it's in.
EDIT: As for the legalization of weed, I'm neutral on the subject. It wouldn't help me in anyway seeing as I don't smoke it, and it wouldn't hurt me in any way I can think of.

It helps doesn't it?
Legalize it in one state and other states may start to follow.
Everyone hates California, this is probably going to make other states hate marijuana more.

It would also decrees prisons/raids, saving even more cash, the 1.4 billion is only from them actually selling it.
That people are still against this is incredible to me.
I'm convinced that some people are against it just to be edgy.

GG on ignoring the rest of my post, you just pick and choose shit that you can argue on with out even thinking about the rest.
and it doesn't mater, as silver has stated California is pretty much it's own country with social issues, no other state has all of the ones california has.
I for one really hopes this follows through.
I smoke pot and I have been for about 8 or 9 months? Everyday, except for a day a few weeks ago I spent the night at my friends house that didn't smoke, and I didn't feel the need to smoke at all. Sure sleeping sucked, but my body felt fine and so did my mind. Fuck all of you anti-pot smokers.
Why do you want it so much?
It's not addictive.
If Cali does this it will catch on...Then...soon the entire west coast will be doing this...It would have too. Thank god I live in washington. Could you imagine just walking out the door "Bye I'm gonna go smoke some bud."

Smoking it is great and shit but the real money is in Hemp.
?
He's not from cali, nor does he understand the issues in cali.
Cali is practically it's own damn country with in the US.

It already is
Anyways I probably wouldn't smoke it if it was legalized anyways. I don't actually know why though.
Why should things be legalized just for the sake of money?
I'm all for the legalization of weed. More money to the government, less money wasted on pushing harmless potheads through the legal system, more jobs created within the government to help enforce these laws, etc.
However, what really caught my eye is that South Carolina is 8th in IQ but 48th or 49th in test scores. Maybe all of that stuff about our standardized tests being harder here is right...
