It's not worth it man, I've been there, it's like Eugene Oregon's retarded neighbor .

No offense.
Yeah it's really just like a sub-portion of Eugene even though it's considered its own city.
Read carefully, he says the name came from Springfield, Oregon. Not the location.
The general idea fits though. When they show Springfield as a whole in a show it's like a little city isolated in a valley. That's basically what any city around here is.
If it really is the location itself, it makes sense.
I think I remember them taking a train to Seattle in the movie. I mean, it's not impossible for them to take a longer train ride or something, but still.
I thought it was in New York State. :C

In this episode Skinner mentions dialect from upstate new york.
But not knowing Springfield's location was part of the fun! Why did you ruin it, Matt?
Yeah, they play knife and spoony.
I saw the title of the thread ("The Simpsons" Matt Groen...) and thought that Matt Groening died
I'm sure in one episode it zoomed out and Springfield was right in the middle of America.
Now I want to know the location of Quahog, South Park and everywhere else.
I thought this was known for years... Maybe its Oregon's best kept secret.
Now I want to know the location of Quahog, South Park and everywhere else.

Now I want to know the location of Quahog, South Park and everywhere else.
Cranston, Rhode Island.
Not very hard to figure out; the Bank of America Building and One Financial Plaza are visible from the opening credits. :v:
Isn't there a Springfield in Australia somewhere?
They say multiple times in the show "Quahog, Rhode Island."
I've never watched any South Park, so I can't answer that.

South Park is in Colorado

That's what the rest of Oregon thinks about Springfield :v:
No but I thought he like grew up in Springfield Oregon or something like that, so it just kinda made sense.
It was pretty fucking obvious seeing how most characters are named after locations in Portland, OR.
Now I want to know the location of Quahog, South Park and everywhere else.
Those aren't nearly as secret, though. Quahog is in Rhode Island, South Park is in Park County, Colorado.
I want to know where "The City" from Mirror's Edge is located, or City 17 from Half-Life. :v:
I'd put my money on both of those being impossible locations, though not as much as Springfield.
Oregon is home to many things from the show, thanks to Groening growing up here.
The following streets exist in Portland: Flanders, Terwilliger, Lovejoy, Quimby, Montgomery, Burnside, Murdock, and Powell. All are also the last name of at least one character in the Simpson's (Burnside->Burns, albeit a potential stretch, Montgomery is his middle name).
There was also this nuclear power plant along the Columbia Gorge from the mid 70's to the early 90's.
I thought it was pretty cool.
Always thought it was in Kentucky.
