Anyway assuming that file could trigger a holocaust by itself is pretty dumb.
Who knows what it could do, although I'm having a hard time believing that documents could cause an anarchy.
So all that is needed is a "key" right?
Correct, although you can make any file at all be the "key".
-snip-
You know society is fucked up when telling the truth is "terrorism"

Here's some more info on that.

does truecrypt decrypt any encrypted file (assuming you have the key)?
or are we just assuming it will work with truecrypt because it's so widespread?
Truecrypt will decrypt any aes256 encrypted file (obviously, the passcode/passfile is needed)
I would  if insurance.aes256 was actually encrypted with SHA512 instead. :smugdog:
If those 1.39 GB are filled with plain text, we will have enough to read for at least 2 months. I bet it has some movies in it to make reading more entertaining i.e Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 911 :v:

Thinking about it that way, for all we know renaming it to insurance.doc might work v:v:v
However impossible it is, it'd be hilarious if the NSA broke the code before Wikileaks released it. But yeah, I know it's impossible in practical limits.
This guy's a fucking asshole. Shoot him, now. How can he release something when he's fucking dead?
Yay, boxes!!!
You're an idiot. If you want goverments to withold secrets from you and act as a true patriot then go ahead, but the files tell the truth: The military documents leaked in October had 15,000 civilian deaths previously unreported.
I'll support this guy and dowloaded the file.
Also:

Mr Assange told he use a modified version of
GIGA ( old jap encryption ).
There are diffrent levels in giga - to decrypt you must insert right level.
a) level
b) password
3) photo/ any ext or music/any sound or both

A photo? Sweet!

I remember a book starting this way except it was about a hacker
Who are you to say that this drug should be as illegal as it is? By the way, DMT can be extracted from hundreds of different parts of organic matter. (Grass and shit like that.)
That, and it's already inside of you. People don't even know HOW it is released into the brain, some believe it is from the "third eye."
So what if it can be made from grass? Heroin can be extracted from poppies, what's your point? Just because it's inside you doesn't mean it's good nor safe in large amounts, things like cocaine stimulate you to produce dopamine and prevents them from disappearing, dopamine naturally occurs in the body but that doesn't mean cocaine is wholey good for you.
The fact that people can take DMT and tell you about it vividly? What, are they lieing that they saw mechanical jungian elves and a man with folded legs, made of energy telling him that everything in the universe was connected.
That's a guarentee for me. The more you take of it, the less you remember. There's a threshold where people will simply not be able to tell you what it is that they saw, but they knew it was extremely powerful. People experience "the light at the end of the tunnel" that near death experiences mirror.
And why is that?
Because it is believed that the brain releases DMT when you're about to die? Coincidence?
[editline]7th December 2010[/editline]
Anyways I've got some shit I need to do, ill be back in a couple hours. Might make a thread about this.
Why does it matter if the brain releases DMT when you die, lots of people also shit themselves when they're about to die does that matter too? And yeah I agree move the discussion of DMT into another thread.
Hopefully he's bluffing. I really don't think yall's curiosity about what the document is should justify its release. Also, having something like this hidden to use in case of emergency contradicts his values of releasing any and everything he finds and verifies. I can't blame him for wanting some safety, but I still don't like the guy.
I like the fact that Assange wants to tell everyone the truth and reveal some secrets
I don't like that he wants to release something called doomsday file ready to destroy the world as we know it
Well, I bet it is going to be something like new NASA stuff - overhype, overhype, it's something that some people go apeshit insane but majority is like "okay"
it better be like this
The fuckin media called it doomsday file for fucks sake.
Digital Fortress
I was about to post that, there are a lot of parallels here.
I was about to post that, there are a lot of parallels here.
ye, especially that part about him releasing his stuff after he dies
but in digital fortress he actually gave a hint how to stop that virus
place your bets on last minute 128bit high-level decryption by csi's super computer
If Julian Assange would to release the 'Insurance File' decrypting code. What else could he possibly threaten to release next? Wouldn't this be a dead end for Assange if he wanted to threaten releasing more information. The Banks of America files? But that's going to be released anyway I assume.
Fuck him.
Hurr I sexually assaulted someone but I WON'T GO TO JAIL I RULE THE WORLD WAAHHAHAHA!
The amount of curiosity I'm feeling towards that file is immense. I hope it gets released someday.
Fuck him.
Hurr I sexually assaulted someone but I WON'T GO TO JAIL I RULE THE WORLD WAAHHAHAHA!
Its pretty much realized that its a bullshit charge just to bring him in. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a dipshit.
The amount of curiosity I'm feeling towards that file is immense. I hope it gets released someday.
I want it to be released because I'm really fucking curious as to what could be that powerful, but I don't want to see it because it could supposedly start a war.
Fuck him.
Hurr I sexually assaulted someone but I WON'T GO TO JAIL I RULE THE WORLD WAAHHAHAHA!
You actually believe that? Ha!
Fuck him.
Hurr I sexually assaulted someone but I WON'T GO TO JAIL I RULE THE WORLD WAAHHAHAHA!
The charge is a bullshit technicality for unprotected sex you dolt.
I see the smear campaign has had some effect.
Smear campaigns don't take much for dumbfucks to go "Sexually related Charges?"
HOLY FUCK ASSANGE IS A RAPIST.
WIKILEAKS IS RUN BY A RAPIST PEDOPHILE
HE RAPED A CHILD
He's like the modern day equivalent of Che Guevara, except he's Australian and not a poor farmer.
Meaning young angsty teenagers will swoon over Julian Assange like girls to Justin Bieber.

Probably why it's only going to get released when shits about to hit the fan, he's only really going to turn the speed up.

Read the thread before posting, that's been mentioned a few times.

It wasn't a smear campaign, although the accusations are suspicious. Hes literally thinking he can do anything just because he is leaking information and gathering a large number of supporters. Even right now, he threatens to release this file, trying to scare the government into releasing him!
