Yeah, and it's fucking awesome. I'm wearing a Che shirt right now. Can't wait to see the new counterculture symbol of Assange's sillhoutte sprayed on to the sides of walls and shit.
Or in this case, the sides of computers.

or maybe the WikiLeaks Hourglass.
Honestly. It is fucking cool. There's always going to be symbols of Counterculture existing in the world. And for the first time in most of our lives, it's this guy and his website.
Back in the day people had Che Guevara in their lifetime, but he's more a relic to the younger generation that we're all part of.
I like how controversial this is. I like the fighting about it, and if I had to choose a side I'd be with the side that's crusading against government corruption.
I'm not sure if I support this any more
Assange, please be smart and only reveal corruption kthx
This could be corruption to the highest degree.
It's about time something was done about the military-industrial complex and the monetary system.
The deeds of everyone involved in leaking the information could be of great value to this cause.
For a better world.

This is a bad thing how? Angst is a good thing to have. There are many things wrong with the world. These people need a symbol. Change needs to happen.
Giving the nature of some of these files, I'm expecting something along the lines of "Bill Clinton actually inhaled."

Hahahahhaa that's fucking hilarious.
He's like the modern day equivalent of Che Guevara, except he's Australian and not a poor farmer.

And dumb fucks who don't understand journalism will pretend to act mature and hate him 'cuz that's the cool thing to do.
Friggin' hipster.

That's the 'mature, weathered and responsible thing to do.'
More like Status Quo loving shitface.

oh and in addition to that, government transparency will combat corruption and completely destroy it. sure the large amounts of perfectly legal, mundane paperwork will have us up to our waist in a sea of irrelevancy but when someone does do something illegal it will be there for the all to see.
if your representing me why should you need to keep secret your activities?.

angst in 13 year olds (majority of this forum) is annoying
Guys, I know this seems completely dumb but
how the fuck do you get ahold of these files (after they've been leaked, like I want to see them)
Are they on the website? because it won't load for me

Or do you mean the insurance file? That was some torrent I believe.

I'd wear a shirt with Assange's face on it.
ITT: I love Assange and I want his hard cock
I'd wear a shirt with Assange's face on it.
I'd rather wear a WikiLeaks shirt to show I support the idea more than I support him.
If that makes any sense..
This guy's a fucking asshole. Shoot him, now. How can he release something when he's fucking dead?

Idiot, do you seriously think Assagne is the entire Wikileaks?
"Doomsday file" is a dumb name for it, it's called insurance.aes256.
HERE is a torrent for it but it's useless without the passphrase, that's what's being threatened at the moment.
No one knows what's in it, could be access codes for everything ever, a virus with a gig or so of filler or a 1080p Rickroll.
There's the torrent again.
Idiot, do you seriously think Assagne is the entire Wikileaks?
Lassagne.
also it's irrelevant if FBI/CIA/NSA whatever cracks the code since they already have what is in the file
you should be debating more on "what if Russia or China cracks that open".

I will create a GUI interface in visual basic, see if i can track an IP address.

Any way, all you guys saying you will get that insurance file, I bet when you do get the key and read it, you will understand nothing in it.

Maybe they get angry at some documents, but not angry enough to push the big red button.
Shit. The more I read these threads, and the more I think about this entire situation, the more I start to support Assange and the idea of WikiLeaks. Although I don't think we need to know most of this information, and it seems his efforts are futile, that's no reason not to try. I think we do need to shake things up, dislodge some of government's power and push them out of their comfort zone, and that's exactly what this is trying to do. Rate me hearts for a change of heart.

Half of Facepunch (myself included) will be making a B-line for anything about Aliens, UFOs, and secret DARPA projects. once we fail to find anything we'll skim through it and see if anything catches our eyes.
amirite?
I don't like that he wants to release something called doomsday file ready to destroy the world as we know it
for the last time it's not called the "doomsday file" it's called "insurance.aes256"
the doomsday thing is something invented/overblown by the media
Do they even have wikileaks clothes? I'd buy some.
Assange needs to stop groping women for secret government files
I keep checking this thread to see if the key has been released.
Futility.

It's actually a combination between Bobby sands and Che Guevera actually, it's more about the catholic/protestant conflict in Belfast where my family's from. I bought this shit in support at the Sinn Fein office on Falls road in Belfast, if that makes any difference to you.
