I don't see why it is that they couldn't continue the game after the destruction of the worldstone. I mean wasn't its only purpose to weaken mortals and make it difficult for heaven/hell to meddle with sanctuary? If anything that opens up a whole ton of plot opportunities.

the worldstone was used to hide sanctuary from both heaven and hell since humans were created from an angel and a demon having sex and both sides didn't like that.
and yea the worldstone was also used to decrease the powers of humans, and with it destroyed humans gain back their power, hence why people such as the female wizard in d3 is like 19 years old and has those powers.

The one thing I find interesting about this whole ordeal is that the CM never came out and specifically said it wasn't the first. He was very vague when he answered any questions about it. Does anyone know if Blizzard is making an appearance at CES? Maybe they are going to announce it there?
