Meanwhile the people who go to military psychiatrists with insane mental issues get told to shrug it off and are sent right back out.
The Navy is harassing us about sexual assault awareness (it's sexual assault awareness month) we've had two GMT's on the issue in the past two months.
We've had like 3 over here, they don't fuck around with this kind of stuff. I think its funny seeing a lot of people here just assume shit based on a few stories.

Pretending it's something small isn't just ignorant, it's dangerous.
Schroeder says a fellow Marine followed her to the bathroom in April 2002. She says he then punched her, ripped off her pants and raped her. When she reported what happened, a non-commissioned officer dismissed the allegation, saying, "'Don't come bitching to me because you had sex and changed your mind,'" Schroeder recalls. Moore says she was alone in her barracks in October 2002 when a non-commissioned officer from another battery tried to rape her. When she filled out forms to report it, she says, her first sergeant, told her: "Forget about it. It never happened," and tore up the paperwork.
Douchebaggery at its finest. Why aren't these guys fired yet?
If you're referring to the Bene Gesserit, they weren't a military.
Fish Speakers. Edit: Fuck, I never even read Dune, and I know this. What's your excuse?
Yeah. And when you have a female friend in the military. Just a few stories...
Just because you have a friend in the military doesn't mean we are all raping each other nonstop...
so glad my friend decided not to join the marines like she was planning I knew shit like this was going on and I didn't want it to happen to her
wow I'm losing faith in humanity more everyday.
While this is pretty disgusting, I imagine it's something to do with the command not wanting women who've been raped to be walking around with guns
As if getting raped wasn't bad enough, Jesus. When will we become a society that just flat out does not discriminate based on things like sex, race, or religion? A thousand years? More?
wow I'm losing faith in humanity more everyday.
Wow, so you never knew rape happened pretty often until this article came out? Seriously, those post about losing faith in humanity are just depressing. Ever checked the good news once in a while? The world ain't all bad. It's just the shit gets reported more often for shock value and views. This is seriously disgusting though, and pretty fucking ridiculous. I hope the military straighten itself up and put competent people that aren't sexist or straight out assholes into the important places, or you know, place a woman there? I'm pretty sure if a woman had to hear a rape testimony, she wouldn't just dismiss it.
I'm sure some pundit or someone is going to use this as an excuse. "See, this is why women shouldn't be in the military."
This is why men shouldn't be in the military.
Just because you have a friend in the military doesn't mean we are all raping each other nonstop...
Sure, but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen either. Looking at a few cases and extrapolating it out to the entire army is flawed, but doing the reverse ("I've never seen it so it doesn't happen") is just as flawed as well. Rape is a terrible thing, the victims need all the support they can get, and when they do, it's good. It's when the support breaks down that you need to worry about, when you have commanding officers (or the police) brushing it off, when you have people saying it was all made up, or trying to downplay it, etc. That needs to be stamped out, no matter how widespread or limited it is.

Tell your friend rape happens outside of the military too while you're at it. [editline]16th April 2012[/editline]
Sure, but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen either.
