Jar Jar is The Mule from Isaac Asimov's Foundation is being speculated.
This just confirms the Jar Jar Binks theory even more...
Clearly Robot Chicken was right.
while that reddit post was hilariously over worded and super stretchy, there's some things in the movies that stand out rather oddly, like his penchant to speak lines at the same time as other characters
As much as I don't think this is really the case, despite it being a really cool idea, the last segment is kind of unnerving. It's probably just imposing an idea on it but his framing in that scene really is puppet master-ish.
Jar Jar is the key to all this
Jar Jar is a official action figure, I've got it on my shelf.
Think he means this: So but yeah that's already a thing. Jar Jar is most certainly Kylo Ren. The mask fits his duck-like beak thing.
as do the darth maul race and presumably whatever grievous was, but as far as movie thematics go, background lore be damned if it can be used to enforce themes in primary content. Like, in disney stuff wearing gloves is thematically used to show a character has hidden motives. I'm sure a lot of characters technically own gloves, but the presentation of the fact in the media is what sets the concept apart.
I refuse to believe that George Lucas is this smart.
Some people say they're all evil - as the cannon is that they hate the surface dwellers on Alderran prior to the Trade Federation invasion and war. Potentially, the only reason they even helped was because Binks had enthralled Boss Nass and they were forced to by him. The yellow in the eyes of various characters could potentially represent unchecked evil or hatred throughout the series: just look at Jabba the Hutt, his eyes are yellow/orange as well. Either that, or it is just convenient that his race has yellow eyes. We can also note that Binks' eyes are far more wrinkled than those of his countrymen, which can come from excessive force use (look at what happened to Palpatine when he used a lot of juice).
But the Gungans are from Naboo, which is the planet that was invaded in TPM. Alderran is where Senator Bail Organa, Leia's adoptive father, is from- and is subsequently blown up in ANH.

Now, there's another main villain in the movie who we haven't seen, Supreme Leader Snoke, voiced by Andy Serkis. (And most likely Jar Jar)
What is it with people shitting all over my husbando at any given opportunity
This is hilarious... George is fucking with us at this point, he knows how ridiculous Jar Jar is.

He may as well have had a direct influence in twisting anakin into darth vader I for one love the weird possibility of darth darth binks, the drunken monkey approach to keeping your foes off guard is impressive if it was (at ANY level of his planning) part of his intent. One could think people working on the film were just as out of the loop as the rest of the audience, so he was portrayed a little harder than intended as a pure bumbling idiot, with only some key moments and his general design being too goofy to pay attention to the design cue of his eyes or whether his motions had some intention underneath the folly. In a universe where binks is a powerful mind manipulator that everyone would dismiss as feverish rumor, with power in the galactic senate and resulting actions that ring throughout the entire history of the franchise? Hell yeah George would want to be him.
yeah, speculate as much as you like. at the end of the day, each and every one of us knows deep inside that this 100% won't be the case. There's no way in hell jar jar will be that relevant, and no director in their right mind would reintroduce the most hated character in the series.

Also JJ Binks as the most hated character and continued fan hatred (according to Bink's voice actor) caused Lucas to 'considerably change' the plot of the the movies. Look at how Dooku was shoehorned into the role - we hadn't ever heard about him before and suddenly he was a BBEG! Binks could easily have supposed to have been in that position but was written out because Lucas didn't want to annoy the fans. Also the movie was called 'the Phantom Menace' and there wasn't really a phantom menace in it; this alone presents the impression to me that the plot was significantly changed following the release of the title.
It's like poetry, they rhyme.
Its really amazing how much this theory explains some of the bizarre and infamous things that George said during production of the prequels. The prequels were meant to mirror or "rhyme" with the original trilogy, and Jar jar would have been the perfect sith equivalent of Yoda. Imagine if Yoda had never been revealed to be a jedi master throughout the entire original trilogy. People would've disliked his character as well. It's just that the backlash for Jar jar was so intense that it (unfortunately) caused George to rewrite the plot of the other two movies significantly, but clearly remnants of the original intentions remain scattered throughout the prequels.
I would argue that rewriting the 2nd film prequel ironically made it worse than what it could have been. I hate sand. Revealing Jar Jar as the actual Sith culprit in the 2nd film, though may have angered fans, would have made the first film better in hindsight of a better perspective. If the prequels were to mirror the original series, then the 2nd film should have had a big 'twist' like that of Vader revealing himself as Luke's father. There was no big twist like that in Attack of the Clones, which likely would have been the reveal of Jar Jar as the evil phantom in the first movie.
Jar Jar is literally the key to all of this. George is a fucking genius.

Like Jar Jar's stupid antics and over-the-top shit and his annoying voice are all the stupid running gag, you think it's going to be a bad movie again, and then suddenly somebody makes a realization, "wait... Jar Jar..." He turns, his eyestalks swivel to look directly at the one who figured it all out, then they begin to verbally connect all the dots that we missed over the years. His eyes narrow. They pause for a moment, slowly turning to meet the gungan's steely gaze, "... it was you, all along." With a deep, foreboding voice Jar Jar finally speaks, his learned, articulate words cut the air like they were cast directly from the sith master's lightsaber, "oh, my poor, poor child... 'meesa' gotta kill you now." Scene.
had a backup plan all along?
HA. You're implying that Sidious was the master, he very well could have been the [del]blaster[/del] apprentice in all this. [editline]20th November 2015[/editline] Vader was just some chump, Darth Darth Binks used his force powers and saw his apprentice fall at the hands of his very own apprentice. Of course he'd let that play out, his dipshit apprentice gets defenstrated the fuck off a balcony by some asthmatic cripple in a stupid helmet? Yeah, you know he was training another apprentice on the side.
the Darth Jar Jar seems like an asinine theory made by some dumb nerd but the more I think about it the more it makes sense
the Darth Jar Jar seems like an asinine theory made by some dumb nerd but the more I think about it the more it makes sense
If you look at a few of the clips, like the Jar Jar Ambush one or the one on the battlefield with the droids, everything that happens in that is extremely intentional. In the ambush one for instance, Jar Jar very clearly steps and leans out over the edge, then turns and drops to grab the ledge. He's not tripping and falling, he's doing it on purpose.

I honestly like the theory because, aside from having a lot of solid arguments, it makes the character more interesting overall. It actually seems like he has a purpose for existing.

As a massive star wars fanboy I always hated Binks as a useless character but this theory has made me look at him in a different light (and rewatch the entire series). It makes so much sense if they didn't mean it then they should adapt the story to make it happen.

Its a bit of a darker twist, taking something ostensibly meant for comedy and turning it in to something representative of pure evil and a source for much of the problems in the films. It'd be a strange but I feel effective way to give the series a more serious grounding than the Prequel Trilogy gave it.
