Why would any company advertise something on a site only a couple of thousand of people regularly visit? Plus it'd get your account banned IIRC if you look through the event log. Some bans had reasons of "joined only to advertise".

To be fair - Microsoft earns most of its money on software, it's not like they're charging for XBOX 360 system updates. Apple earns most of its money on hardware (well, the iDevices), and as such doesn't rely much on OS sales.

While Zet is clearly in the wrong, a lot of those are pretty darn minor. If you include enough minor changes, you can make some pretty long lists - just look at the WP7 Mango feature list: http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2011/05/26/all-of-the-new-windows-phone-7-mango-features/
As stated in the article, it's not at all the whole list, but you can guess that if these are the important ones, pretty small changes are counted in the 500.

That's the joke. A puma, panther, cougar, and mountain lion are all different names for the same animal.

The bigger changes can be found here:

They were in the other link too, but they're kind of buried in there with all the smaller changes.
Even among the "smaller changes" I'm looking forward to "Go full screen on any display". And notification center will be sweet.
why do they list iMessage as a mountain lion feature? you can download it for regular lion
Are you thinking of iChat?

Overall, I'd say those changes aren't all that big. Of course Apple is doing it a bit different from Microsoft - they throw out changes (almost) each year, and as such they don't need to be as big. Doesn't mean they're bad, just that I wouldn't really compare the 20$ price of OSX to Windows'.
If you want to get technical, it's just a $20 name change with some security updates.
Some people actually took this post seriously? Wow.

Some of those features should have been in the OS ages ago.
Some of those features should have been in the OS ages ago.
eh, no.Dictation, facebook, twitter, messages and notification center has only been out for about a year (except facebook - twitter scored first), apple was probably thinking "well how can we introduce these to macs", the touchpad functions kinda like a touch screen imo, it feels really sleek and nice than the touchpads you'd find on windows based PC's. Gatekeeper and a lot of those security patches/addons should of came out earlier it is a shame they took a while to release it. A lot of these improvements is to get mac ready for iOs6 so people can sync stuff over on their iPad, iPod or iPhone
this is why i understand apple is largest! in the world.. cheap parts for replaces and also the greatest software prices ive found on the internet in all of the websites i browse B)
