NASA is just saying that to calm us down while the US military is busy preparing :tinfoil:
But NASA said nothing is going to happen to our planet. And nothing is on a collision course.
Ah, I always thought Spain stomped around South America raping everything in sight. We spend maybe 2 days on this subject in school...in like the 6th grade.
your avatar is extremely unsettling
Guys its obvious what will happen.
Giygas is apon us.
I predict a mass suicide the day before.
Which is good because then we lose all the fucking idiots of this planet.
Well most, the ones left are the fucking idiots that are yet to figure that they're fucking idiots
Pfff. what do nasa know, they don't understand how the universe was designed....
One fear is that a rogue planet that has been dubbed "Nibiru" or "Planet X" is supposedly aimed at Earth. Self-proclaimed Nibiru expert Nancy Lieder, who says she is in contact with the aliens from Zeta Reticuli, first said Nibiru would cause widespread disaster in May 2003, only to change it to Dec. 21, 2012.

Come 2013 were going to see shows about Apophis: Doomsday Asteroid, and other "predictions" associated with 2029. Even though the chances of it hitting us are extremely slim.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/99942_Apophis
Take away all the doomsday bullshit and just look at what they've found on Apophis and it's quite interesting. Its path constantly changes and scientists keep finding little things which will alter it path, they are still 100% uncertain if it will collide or not hence Schweickart wanting to place a transponder on the thing so they can get more accurate readings. Lastly if it was to collide, it would cause a large change in the environment but it's nothing in the scale to Chicxulub which we believe was the cause of mass extinctions. Chicxulub was a huge impact but Apophis is nothing in the size of it, in comparabilities Apophis is equivalent to 5.1 × 10-6 of Chicxulub which is tiny, closest thing we've had realistically to Apophis was the eruption of Krakatoa back in 1883 which is just off close to half of the predicted megaton value calculated of Apophis.
So in short if Apophis did hit us, it wouldn't cause much more than a few of the biggest hydrogen bombs in the world and a volcano going off all at the same time, it'll make a big hole, some natural disasters from flooding, strong winds and depending where it lands, maybe a huge casualty count but a large portion of it's estimated impact zones are in the ocean or in Russia.
In short it's not something which will ~end the world~, it'll just make it a fucking nightmare for a long time. Doomsday my ass.
Well now we got all the threats from visible space debunked. What about alternate dimensions? I mean the parts of space we apparently cant observe?
Or maybe the human compatible bird flu? Political tension resulting in thermonuclear war? Horrible experiment accident causing the world to be overthrown by creatures from another dimension/ctulhu and its glorious starspawn? Reality going "well shit, fuck this im getting a beer and ignoring this boring shit"
Hmm.. giant earthquake causing the dinosaurs to reanimate and conquer all our macdonalds wich actually are secret millitary bases according to my friend in Uganda.
No. I am a stop.
But it will be the end of the world for the believers, or actually the end of their lives.
They will suicide while nothing is happening
And once again I am reminded of the case where a 16 year old committed suicide because she was afraid of the outcome of the LHC test
Solar storms. The solar max is expected to peak around 2013. Give or take a week or two. But the sun will most likely produce solar flares around that time next year and they may or may not be stronger than the one a few days ago. My guess is that it'll be stronger. As for knocking out power grids it could do that in theory but we'll prolly recover from that easily. Though, if it is large enough to basically fry the power grid we will all be pretty fucked for a little with no power.
Pole shift. It is not fiction and it does happen. Right now our north magnetic pole is at about 81N. Not at 90 like a lot of people probably think. And I don't believe the poles will just flip and switch places. They'll move and if it moves far enough the earth will have something to say. More earthquakes that are more powerful. Weather and climate changing. Natural disasters will be increase most likely.

Explain how these pole shifts cause such effects because I'm baffled at how this could cause tornadoes and increase the strength of earthquakes along with climate changing.
PHEW, what a relief! :downs:
just so you know "conspiracy theorist" means "someone who theorizes about conspiracy"
unless the giant meteor that crazy people think will end the world in 2012 happens to be working with the CIA to get its flight trajectory right, it isnt a conspiracy theory
'Conspiracy theorist' has more colloquial worth than it does as a strict definition. It's come to describe every group of people who believe something without any evidence to support it.
Well
Except the really big one...

A large portion of its estimated impact zones are in oceans or Russia because those are the largest regions on the planet... you can't predict impact zones from that far away.
Anyway, according to NASA and a bunch of other places there's literally a one-in-several-billion chance that Apophis would actually pass the stellar keyhole necessary for it to loop back and hit us in 202x. It's not going to happen, and we have the means to stop it even if it did.
Also it would be a lot more than some fissile bombs and a volcano of indeterminate sizes going off at the same time. Apophis is huge.

Watch this video. The first part talks about alignment of the planets and mayan crap but half way into it explains polar shift and what the possible outcomes are depending on how the poles shift. The poles are shifting too. If you remember last year when all those birds and fish died and then the tampa airport had to close because the north magnetic pole shifted. Birds died again today and I'm guessing that more will be found. If more are found within the next few days I'm gonna say the pole shifted again.
My only question is...
How can I make money out of this :v:
Go around asking people who believe in the 2012-Doomsday for free stuff the day before

Is it really that far fetched to think the birds died because of the fireworks?
This video explains nothing. He asked why exactly would pole shifts cause all that so you give a video that says "This will happen!"
And in my opinion History Channel lost any credibility when it started showing nothing but programs about theories about nazis who traveled to space and the end of the world. Note that they are all theories.
And then to back their theories they throw the "this is backed by SCIENCE" and never explain where do the facts actually back their theories up and skip to something else.
I didn't mean for it to be a "this will happen" video. More of an informational video stating that the poles do shift and the possible outcomes if they shift suddenly or not. And yes the video may not be credible but if this isn't credible I'm not going to believe a word NASA says either. And yes it is just a theory. But at this time last year birds and fish were found dead is mass groups while the north pole was shifting (towards Siberia I believe). There's really no telling if something will happen or not, and I'm not saying IT WILL happen, just that it could be a possibility. Also, I don't believe in the end of the world. I don't believe everyone will die if something happens. Just mass deaths and it will be the end of an era and the start of a new one.
Mayans can predict the end of the world to the exact day and year? But they can't predict the Spanish steamrolling their civilization to extinction
There was a nice picture explaining this.

The calender doesn't end that day. It's supposed to start a new cycle. How the fuck do people even manage to make stuff like this up?
The only thing that is going to happen is at LEAST one religious nut is going to go on some sort of killing spree or murder someone to 'save them' or similar. It's bound to happen somewhere as sad as it is to realize it.

ugly as hell
FUCK! it's 3 days before Xmas, i guess we'll be missing it this year guys.
Honestly, I think that mass riot will occur because of 2012. Maybe it won't be major, but it will cause some issues. This has already happened in 2000 (Y2K), but it just seems that things will go crazy.
