• Could the iPod Be On Its Deathbed?

All my iPod is to me right now, is extra battery and hard drive space for my music. My phone does the rest.
I could never understand why my friends will carry around an iPod and a cellphone.
I've seen people with an iPod touch and an iPhone...... Some people worry me.
It's more like Apple somehow got the niche of idiots that don't understand shit, and they exploit their lack of knowledge. You can get a Zune HD for ~100$ cheaper than a equal capacity ipod touch but does anyone buy those? Not many, why?
Same thing with kids and Macbooks. The average college student would be just fine with a $400 Dell laptop, but nooooooooo I want a Macbook.
Finall, Apple can suck it. Wait for the lawsuits to arise.
What? They're going to sue people for not buying iPods?
A lot of people complain about iPod's breaking all the time, but mine have been fine. I've had a mini, nano, classic, and I'm now on a touch 3g. The only one that broke out of all of them was the touch, because I fell over and it forced the mini-jack inside and broke it. It was in warranty and I sent it back and had it fully replaced, with the engraving within a week. I drop things all the time, and my iPod only has one small scratch on it from when I put it in the same pocket as my keys. And before anyone says I wasted money buying all those iPods, I got the first 3 free.
I wouldn't have an iPod anymore if I had a good phone, but the HTC Hero is a piece of shit. When I get a new phone next year the iPod's gone.
I like my iPod touch, almost everybody I know has one. Seems strange that sales are dwindling. Well worth the money simply for the huge amount of apps and things. You can get other devices with similar storage for alot cheaper, but I played around with about six different MP3 players (including a Zune) and the iPod was by far the best. I do not just use my ipod touch for music. I use it to play games, watch videos, send emails and much more. My phone is an HTC Desire. The battery life on it is pretty crap, it tends to need charging every two days even if it isn't used at all. If it is used then the battery dies within a day. I like my iPod because the battery is good enough for several days of more intensive use (I know that it isn't checking the network for texts and stuff, but that isn't my problem). That alone is a pretty good reason for me to want an iPod.

The point is that the battery life is the only thing they really have going for them these days, and people don't want to carry that extra device around anymore.

Almost everybody I know has an MP3 player and a phone seperate for the same reasons. My HTC Desire is a pain in the arse to use for music, the quality is less, the playback isn't gapless and the whole layout is simply worse. My phone battery dies incredibly quickly, whereas my iPod's lasts for days on end even when used. Apps on my iPod run better than they do on my phone, even the youtube app is much better on my iPod. My phone takes longer to browse the web, even when using WiFi and webpages seem to lag, the touch screen is quite hard to use and I find myself always doing the wrong thing. I don't seem to have any of those problems with my iPod and I'm not doing anything different. I use my phone for texting and phone-related things (slight web browsing if I need to look something up on the go.), and I use my iPod for playing music on the go, and for a basic computing tool (MSN, Facebook, Youtube, Web browsing, basic gaming) when I don't want to fire up my PC, or when I want to lie down in bed. While other people may see it different to me (which is probable, we're all different), I see my ipod and my phone as totally different tools. My phone 'can' do most of the things my iPod can do, but it's usually slower, harder to use (in terms of touch screen), less stable (my android apps seem to crash every other time I use them, ipod app crashes are rare for me), and generally worse. I know that Apple products cost more, and honestly the £250 that my 32gb iPod cost does seem a bit steep, but considering that the iPhone costs almost £1000 after you work in the contracts, it is easier to get a less expensive phone and an iPod than it is to splash out on an 'all in one' device. People always used to tell me how android phones were much better than the iphone, so I got an HTC Desire (which, at the time was apparently an 'iphone killer') and it performed worse in every respect when compared to my iPod, even over wifi. I guess different people have different expectations, but I use my iPod on a daily basis.
Yeah if only I could fit my 50gb of music on my 2.1gb HTC Desire................................................. I love my 160gb iPod classic, they would be idiots to lay it off
I sold my Itouch when I realized I needed a lot more storage. My Ipod Classic can hold so much more, and I only use it for music anyways.
Probably because people realize being forced to use proprietary software really sucks.
Probably because people realize being forced to use proprietary software really sucks.
I never understood why having to use itunes with an ipod was such a big deal, especially when there are ways to make it work with other programs anyway.

Maybe it'll be a bit until all android models are really solid out of the box, but my Droid X runs very smoothly and I rarely see crashes. The screen is bright and sharp and responds quite well. I don't think I'll ever have to buy a GPS or another mp3 player. For me, battery is the only downside.

I got a blackberry instead of a IPhone, no regrets. I've got all my music on it and its a phone!
I got a blackberry instead of a IPhone, no regrets. Have fun texting Back on topic, I had an iPod Touch and a Zune HD and I preferred the Zune immensely. Apple is so obsessed with topping themselves every fucking time but they need to realize that they're producing music players You know, things that play music. That's it. Personally I'd like a music player that has music and doesn't require paying for accounts and downloading apps and all that bullshit. (I realize that Zune isn't much better but fuck it it just was better to me)

they should make a whole bunch of I things to leech more money from consumers
