If I remember correctly, those boxes get smaller and smaller when you add more of them.
Gotta try it when I get to my desktop computer.

You should see my Desktop then :v:
Its a phone interface. This is what happens when you try to make a universal OS.
I like the new interface and *gasp* style. Its clean, crisp and smooth. No un-needed inflation or over dramatic styling.
Is this your desktop?

They arent images but yeah essentially. There is wasted space on the left side though.
All it needs is a start menu to be honest, just hope it might come in from a service pack (you never know). I already bought a license for Professional when I get my new x131e.

Holy fuck...dude.
THAT'S NOT HOW A DESKTOP WORKS.
If I had this I would not be happy.
Look at it, its ugly as sin, what am I doing? Playing a child's board game? Look at all these bright flat colors.
Also it doesn't look very organized at all, why are the icons so fucking small compared to everything else, why isn't anything in a proper grid formation, and WHY does it need to eat your entire screen?!
It looks like a clusterfuck no matter how I look at it.
I don't think it's ugly as sin, but to each his own. And it doesn't look organized at all? What's your idea of organization? And nothing is in a "proper grid formation", because I fucking chose to set it up like this. If you want a "proper grid formation", use the fucking desktop. And it eats up your entire screen because you generally only focus on the start menu when you open it anyway - why else would you open it? It's simply a non-problem, except for maybe the odd occasion where somebody else is looking at a video while you open the start screen.

Haha my desktop always used to end up with a bunch of shit like that on it folders and files and all.
Ever since I right clicked, went to view, and unticked "show desktop icons", I've been a lot more organised in where I save things, etc.

Yeah, because it's totally relevant how an interface that you use for a few seconds looks like.
Seriously, there are days when I don't use the metro interface AT ALL.
If you want to put all your shortcuts to the metro UI, go ahead, that's your choice but it's not at all necessary.
I don't mind the metro UI, because I choose not to make it a necessity for me. It's like a start menu for me.

I don't even leave videogame shortcuts on my desktop.
Windows 8 IS great.
I highly suggest that all you people who say stupid stuff like "lol i don wan my pc to be xbawx" and actually give it a chance.
It's not THAT much different from Windows 7 and it's fast as hell.
I like how people instantly say "w8 sucks, hello linux" as if there wasn't any other version of windows available.
They arent images but yeah essentially. There is wasted space on the left side though.
Then power to you, I guess. But surprise! The desktop is still there - use it to your hearts content!
Holy fuck...dude.

It absolutely is, I bought another monitor just to have more icons on the desktop.
I like how people instantly say "w8 sucks, hello linux" as if there wasn't any other version of windows available.
Yeah but the problem is MS drops support after awhile, Linux is modular and customizable as fuck so it does not even matter, you can upgrade single components if you wish.
Its a phone interface. This is what happens when you try to make a universal OS.
Only difference is that on a phone/tablet there is no alternative to use.
On the PC you can choose how much or how little you use the Metro.
I like the new interface and *gasp* style. Its clean, crisp and smooth. No un-needed inflation or over dramatic styling.
Do you even know what half of this means?
Its just fucking buzz words, "Oh yeah CRISP AND CLEAN AND SMOOOOOOOTH, no INFLATION"
I could describe Aero the same way, hell I could even describe windows 98 the same way, it means nothing in the end because a great deal of window's interfaces were designed with cleanliness and usability in mind.
The reason why i'm complaining is, compared to the other themes, this is a step backwards, yet people still insist its better simply because it looks and operates different.
Oh! You thought people only disliked change because they were retarded? Newsflash, It works vice-verse aswell!
Why do you think people buy new iphones? It's the "newest thing, the craze, its better really, look at all the things it changes!"
This is why I don't like Windows 8.
The thing about this video is that almost all of the complaints are about OPTIONAL FEATURES. You can even bring back the Start Menu with Start8 or Classic Shell. (Start 8 is going to be free for non-commercial use, and Classic Shell will always remain free)
Also important of note is that they can find the device manager in the Metro UI search. They just didn't notice the categories on the right menu during the search, notice that it says "Apps" "Settings" "Files", only Apps is highlighted, on Settings and Files you have a number indicating that it found files for those categories.
There are many valid complaints in the video, but almost all of them are nullified by the fact that they are optional features you don't have to use, or they didn't notice that it actually could do what they thought it couldn't. Almost half of the video is ruined by the very existence of Start8, and seriously, we use Windows, we know not everything is shiny and pretty out of the box like we want it, we download applications for everything, Start8 is just one more of them.
In fact, is there even one valid complaint in it because of Start8 or Classic Shell? The process of getting to the control panel, searching for files and turning off the computer are all solved by Start8. Everything else was about how things behaved inside the Metro UI, which you don't need to use, whatsoever.

People seem to have some kind of perverted image in their heads that makes them think that the metro UI is somehow an overly significant part of the new Windows. Well, it's not.
Like I said before, the user can deside how much or how little they use the metro UI.
It's not like it's smeared on your face on every occasion. It's just there being a bro like "hey, if you need me, I'm here. If you don't need me right now, that's fine."

You have to pay for Start8 actually, it isn't worth $5. Unless the trial is unlimited, it isn't worth paying for and it's better if it was integrated with Windows 8 already.
Still.. modular interface with plugins.. would have made Windows 8 1000x better but no..
You have to pay for the bloody thing actually, it isn't worth $5
When did that ever stop anybody?
I believe most people have to pay to use Windows as well, yet haven't.
His nose shrinks with each passing year.
No, his face expands around it.
Holy shit
once you put start 8 or classic shell on windows 8 it is probably the best user experience you'll get
My startup time is blazing fast, honest and I haven't needed to deal with metro since start8/classic shell so please shut up
When did that ever stop anybody?

Literally paid for every version of Windows in this place, started from MS DOS to Windows 8 today.
Buying a laptop with preinstalled Windows means you're paying for the license too, but if Microsoft already added the start menu then it'd be grand. Start8 wouldn't have been necessary.
Not gonna stop me from getting 8 though anyway.

What you did or didn't do doesn't matter.
There is also Classic Shell.
Afaik Start8 will cost money once its out of beta so it isn't a good very "optional" as you see it.

Something similar to this would still be grand then. Adding this to favourites.

Windows 8 also costs money when it's released. I know that doesn't stop quite a lot of people from obtaining it without paying a dime.

Oh yea. Start8 is going to be freeware still for non-commercial use.
