Metro is slower to use then start menu.
Then you are simply using it wrong.

Bill knows his shit, I'll trust him.
Clint Eastwood is almost 85. He's gonna kick the bucket in the next 5 years. Think about that.
Please don't say that. It's like wishing someone to die. But Bill Gates have left a great legacy under his name and his long career. He does not need to worry about death because as long as Microsoft lives, his legacy will never be forgotten. Just like Apple and Disney
Some of the starting applications come with embedded advertisements last I checked. Not going to reinstall them to check. [editline]30th September 2012[/editline] Alt+tab Windows + tab.
Alt tab isn't nearly the same thing You have to cycle through open programs window by window Meanwhile on a mac, you push a button (aka the "alt tab" of macs) and it lays out every window/program you have neatly on the screen with context-sensative labels so all you have to do is mouse over the specific window/program you want to switch to, and you'll immediately jump to it when you leave its "alt tab" mode. It is so much better. Plus its "show desktop" feature is great as it doesn't auto-minimize everything like in windows, it only pushes the windows to the side letting you temporarily do desktop-related functions before you select individual windows you want to show again (or all of them if you just push the "show desktop" key again). It's ironic becuase iOS is absolute piss at multi-tasking and UI interface (because its designed to be as simple and restricted as possible) but MacOS's UI interface is easily some of the best on the market for multi-tasking and efficency. I'm sure some linux distro's match/beat it though. But I wouldn't consider linux a commercial grade operating system that is widely used by software and consumers.
I'd get Windows 8 if I were to buy a "serious" Tablet. Don't get me wrong, I Love Android, but I don't feel like it's a serious operating system when it comes to PC-related stuff. I believe that Windows 8 will be a poor desktop OS, but a great Tablet OS. Finally, we can do PC things on our Tablets. That would be pretty cool. Running Steam, playing proper PC games on a (ick) touchscreen. Hm.. actually, wait, nevermind. I think Microsoft is going for the "Jack of all Trades, Master of None"
I hope my workplace gets Windows 8 on their computers so I can try it out and decide if I want it or not. Being openminded here boys despite every single negative thing I hear about it

I like it way better than 7 myself, unless you want to use metro apps it's basically just windows 7 with huge performance upgrades, faster start up times and in my opinion a better start menu. You can just get the old start menu back if you want though and just get the performance enhancements.
Client Eastwood is almost 85. He's gonna kick the bucket in the next 5 years. Think about that.
Clint's got another 37 years left. He'll be at least 122, unless he gets shot in a bar brawl.

You wouldn't think so, but it's really the case.
That's because he's 56 (almost 57).
My dad is 60 and looks better than Bill Gates right now.
I personally don't think Virtual Box does it justice - the experience is radically different when you're running it native. You wouldn't think so, but it's really the case.
Well, the problem is you don't notice how much faster it runs/starts up really because it's just running on top of windows 7 anyway, but it still helps people with crippling fear of change see that windows 8 isn't going to reach out of their monitor and punch them in the dick :v:
My dad is 60 and looks better than Bill Gates right now.
Did your dad run a multi-billion dollar company that reaches out all over the globe at any point in his life? because that shit will ruin you in terms of ageing with all the stress.
Honestly, I don't understand everyone who says "the start screen takes up the whole screen, I can't see my programs" I don't understand because you can't even look at both the menu and your programs at the same time anyways.
Because covering the whole screen interrupts the flow. I'm one of those guys that never even knew about the Windows button opening the start-menu, and I hardly ever use the search function, I manually point and click to open what I want from the start-menu or control panel. The start screen is a pain in the ass in that regard.
holy shit bill looks old in that picture
like totes super cereal omg he looks 30! LOL!!! like and share
I like all this change, I directly upgraded from windows 98 to windows 7 and I was so confused for so many months, but I loved it. Most of my Classmates didn't even know how to search things up in the windows 7 start menu so I had to show them. I learned how to use Win8 very quickly with the help of Hot keys and tutorials. A lot of people refuse change because they aren't learning. Windows 8 IS intuitive once you learn how to use it. People just don't like it because of "Holy shit something different, I don't like it because it is confusing". I may be a quick learner and a fan of Micrsoft, but I know that windows 8 is intuitive.
I'm not currently a big fan of Windows 8 at the moment, maybe it might grow on me later down the line.
I think my problem with windows 8 and so on is the fact that I just got windows 7 and I hate the idea of having to shill out more money and have to reinstall an OS. Is it going to get to a point where we buy OS's like every year to keep up with everyone else..?
You'll only have to pay $40 to get the upgrade to Windows 8 soon, and the OS itself after the $40 isn't going to cost an arm and a leg this time.
