Unfortunately I feel like this is a situation we've been building towards for years now. For years I've had discussions with some of the more ardent conservatives that I know that end with me presenting some statistic or fact that they outright refuse to believe. Statistic from the government? Obama faked it. Some statistic from a 3rd party source? Well I don't believe it. Why? I just don't.
Then you have ones like my father that, while he didn't exactly like Trump he still pulls the "when are these people going to suck it up and get over the election" even after he spent 8 years constantly bitching about Obama.
I constantly hear people going on about how the left really needs to look inward and reform and while I believe that, the conservatives need it just as much.
