You have any idea what would happen if they actually managed to land a nuclear warhead in the US? It will cause millions of deaths and will be a huge blow to the economy, possibly even breaking many international trading agreements and in the worst case scenario, the US will be brought to its knees. All from a single nuke. That's a good deal for NK to take (y'know, almost destroying the worlds superpower economically), NK has nothing to lose but its poor country. They dont care if they all die they just want to show the world they have the balls to do something.
When even hyperbole becomes hyperbolic, we have this.
Here's my only question:
Should I be worried?
Not really, no.

I don't think that Kimmy is insane enough to kill himself. However, he might pull something before he dies.
No need for nukes when you have thousands of artillery pieces aimed at a single city.
China, Japan and Philippines I doubt would do anything major, if at all. I expect it would mostly be the US and SK against them.
Really? If a nuke was launched I'd think the only country on Earth who has ever been nuked in war might want to help us prevent that from ever happening again. Also, has the North ever gone this far in its rants? They've been very belligerent since the war but has it ever escalated this much? I know about the 70s fights but this shit is getting bad.
To be honest I'd rather listen to these stupid threats from North Korea over and over again than have millions of people die. It's better to just wait until the country collapses in on itself to intervene.
Bring it bitch!
What are they running tech wise, 3rd or 4th gen soviet equipment?
I'm pretty sure the US has anti-ballistic defense systems...

Japan only has a small defense force. What would it accomplish? It relies heavily on the US for military support.
You know that Japan bars all nuclear powered ships from its harbors? Just because they don't want anything to do with nuclear power in their country. You think they're going to go to war with a nuclear power with that kind of attitude?

Its times like these, I actually appreciate living in New Jersey. But really, only times like these.
Remind me again why an infiltration team of a few snipers was a bad idea first time he opened his mouth?

Suprised that hasn't been posted yet, on a side note. Korea wont do shit.
Remind me again why an infiltration team of a few snipers was a bad idea first time he opened his mouth?
Because it doesn't work that way.
Remind me again why an infiltration team of a few snipers was a bad idea first time he opened his mouth?
Because they would invade South Korea if he was assassinated, regardless if the US/SK was involved. I really doubt they would do an in-depth investigation in such a scenario.

More-so, such an occurrence would basically bring every industrialized nation in to support the U.S. and help it recover. To be quite honest, it could help the U.S. become even better than it was because of intense amount of reconstruction effort put in by pretty much the entire modern world. It would also cause a colossal shift in the American View. Nuclear deterrents would become the most in-demand system, and the defense budget would explode, and Military recruitment skyrocketing. Almost every man, woman, and child would be pressing Congress to completely eradicate North Korea.. The Republican party would get it's every desire if this occurred.

Would you consider the various naval bases used by the US Navy like Yokosuka to be a Japanese harbor? There's a Nimitz class CVN stationed there.
Doesn't want anything to do with nuclear power? Japan has around 55 nuclear power plants operating right now and accounts for more than half of their energy production. They're just opposed to nuclear weapons as all of you should know.

They could send their airforce in and they have more men than many NATO countries who would probably help too. My reasoning is that if NK actually launches a single nuke at anyone, Japan would see that as a threat and would want to help get rid of that threat as soon as possible. North Korea has been belligerent to Japan in the past and they've kidnapped many Japanese in the past, so what stops them from using them against a neutral power who's seen as being very friendly to the West? Also, don't forget Japan occupied Korea in the past during the lifetime of Kim Il-Sung so Jong-Il might want some "personal revenge."

They are going so far because now they can. Before, if they threatened a nuclear war, the entire world would have laughed them in to the ground because we knew they didn't have nuclear weaponry. Now they do, so they can threaten it. Its just extended dick waving. North Korea used a penis pump and has a tiny bit more to wave around.

I would never support an offensive war against North Korea but if they actually do start a war I would hope we could get rid of them once and for all.

But they will never get a nuke anywhere close to the US. It takes them half a year to make one 15kt atomic bomb, which would hardly level a large US city. Kimmy would never pull that shit for real, because Kimmy loves his position and would do anything to keep it. The longer he can lead the Korean people the better for him. And even if he didn't care, there's no way they could nuke the US without smuggling one into the US. But really, enemies from the Arab world are alot more likely to get a nuclear weapon in the US than any North Korean.
Conventional war is a real possibility, but Korea would never win. The damage to the South would be immense and the occupation would be very dirty and messy with continuing insurgency for years. Any war would be terrible for all parties, but Kimmy wouldn't actually go through and risk breaking his relations with China and losing all his fancy American imported videos and imported French wine and his death hold over his people.
I wouldn't be truly worried about this until he's on his deathbed, though the crisis in May/June was terribly close to sparking shit.

Pretty sure by the point the nukes have already landed and the country recovered NK and SK would not exist anymore. Therefore the military recruitment will not increase, and the republican party shall remain the same since it's already useless trying to be patriotic, if your number one enemy is completely destroyed.
You're relying on other modern countries too much, I highly doubt that the basically the entire world will give an actual financial aid to the US, they all got their own problems to worry about, on account of you know probably other countries will want to increase their defense budgets as well since a fucking nuke just hit the worlds superpower. Most other countries would do is send a few people over there and try to help the hospitals and trying contain the radiation, sort of like what happened in Haiti.
Explain
When a nuke goes off it gives off alot of heat. 10,000 degrees hot. Sand and flint are a chief components used in the making of glass, along with high heat. So if a nuke goes off in the desert, you now have an amazing surplus of glass needed to make liquor bottles!
I would never support an offensive war against North Korea but if they actually do start a war I would hope we could get rid of them once and for all.
Like I said in my previous post. If North Korea successfully hit the U.S. with a nuke. Hell, if they even launched one near the U.S., almost the entire U.S. population would demand the eradication of North Korea.

It would be like 9/11...TIMES 1000!
Shit, 13% of the country in 1944 wanted the extermination of every single Japanese, imagine what it would be with a nuke.

You're missing the bigger picture, there is STILL a real chance that NK might get an actual hit on the US, and if that happens all hell would break loose. You and I both have no I idea what NK is really capable of.

Underestimating your enemy is one of the biggest mistakes you'll ever make in a war
As a glorious Norwegian master race, I just sit here watching while you dirty peasants fight over nothing.
Launching a nuke is equivalent to pushing the "end human race" button. It's not going to happen.

"Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories." - Sun Tzu's 'Art of War'
The most sane solution for any form of invasion would be to knock out all facilities, artillery warehouses/bunkers, and proceed to destroy military installations. If that doesn't work... Napalm Smart Bombs would be a very beautiful/scary thing.
Launching a nuke is equivalent to pushing the "end human race" button.
No it isn't.
There would be no retaliatory nuclear strike against Korea if they launched one. Just full scale war.
Conventional weapons would be more precise and less damaging to foreign relations.
Launching a nuke is equivalent to pushing the "end human race" button. It's not going to happen.
Only applies to large / superpower countries capable of doing real damage.
I wonder how China will deal with the mass illegal immigration of North Koreans fleeing the war as the US/SK forces drive northward.
