Most of them haven't eaten for days....
Kim is probably training the hell out of each and every one of them right now, and probably giving them the best meal they ever had.
Unless he isn't serious.
By the way the North Korean army has around 8,402,000 trooops. China has around 7,555,000.
Fascinating.
in NK, the military comes first for everything. they're the ones that get all the food, the civilians don't.
@ the guy who said they didn't eat
What's going on?are they firin nukes?
Hopefully pheonix won't be targeted,we did nothing
people who say the north korean army doesn't eat are dumb.

Yep. That's why their military is so big, because everyone joins up to receive the benefits.

Selfish, selfish.
^hey I care for others,just don't wanna get fucked

I'm messing with you. Nukes are bad.
The thought of having nuclear missiles shot at us is a scary thought.
Some of you are forgetting North Korea has the largest army in the world. Bigger than China's.
No it isn't.
So what kind of practices are they doing?
Rice bombs and firecrackers?
Or HOLY SHIT I'M FUCKED type stuff.
No it isn't.
See my post above.
And wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_number_of_troops
No worries, it was made out of bamboo and rice.
It's something you should worry about, in the sense there is a chance they could harm you. It may be slim, but we do not fully know how dangerous North Korea is. They are believed to have 8 or so nukes, but they may have more.
Already 3 AM here in Europe(GMT+1). :ohdear:
Im going back to playing world of tanks, if something goes down im sure ill know :v: .
No it isn't.
if you include reserves and paramilitary then yes Korea has the largest military in the world
if you include reserves and paramilitary then yes Korea has the largest military in the world
Yep. He was probably just thinking of active troops. And even without paramilitary North Korea still has more than China!
See my post above.

This is unfair to say as
1. North Korea has a 'songun' military-first policy that dictates the country put tremendous focus on the military, which is why it has such a large reserve for its population. Other countries do not practice this but, in the case of a real war, could mobilize an army bigger the north's.
2. Most of the 8 million figure are reserve. North korea's standing army is only around one million. There are countries with more then that, such as India.
If you want to go by technicalities then yes the DPRK has the world's largest army. But this is peace time, and that table is hardly a reference sheet for the military power of a country.

is'nt it rather old tech though?
Edit: my fucking automerge :argh:
Whats so special about today? I havent seen a post on why it is. Oh and that Statistics about Nk having more troops than China really surprised me. Thanks for posting that

Of coarse but they still have the most, and that's what matters.

The US/SK begin their maneuvers today.
No, that's not what matters. The US does not have the kind of military policy the DPRK has. But if it did, it could mobilize a much larger army. And in the event of any war, it will.

Welcome to the 1980's
That's what I'm saying.
I was talking about the US. We could always raise a bigger army then they can.
You're blowing this out of proportion.
basically you're saying 'they put their military first! beware!'
I was talking about the US. We could always raise a bigger army then they can.
Yes we can, but we won't. We never will obviously.
You're blowing this out of proportion.
That may be the case, but we can never know.
Yes we can, but we won't. We never will obviously.

So then what are you trying to argue, if the US can and will raise a bigger army, during WAR time when it actually matters.
if the US can and will raise a bigger army, during WAR time when it actually matters.
But we cannot. Unless there is a draft (which there probably won't be). For example we had an army of 11 million troops (I believe) during WW2.
But we cannot. Unless there is a draft (which there probably won't be).
Seriously? With the amount of hate and fear there is for north korea, you don't think there won't be a patriotic surge in volunteers? Even if there isn't, it's not like there's going to be the kind of dissent against the war like there was in vietnam. We have plenty of justification that puts any war with the north in a positive light.
[editline]09:43PM[/editline]
A draft is not out of the question. If anti-war movements can't organize themselves to be strong enough, there will be a draft.

There will probably be a dissent, yes. And I don't think many citizens recognize North Korea as a terrible nation (due to not knowing obviously).

The United States discontinued conscription in the 70s, didn't it?
There will probably be a dissent, yes.

We don't have mandatory military service laws where as a citizen you must have x amount of years in the military, but when you turn 18 you get a draft card you fill out so the government knows you're eligible for the draft when the time comes.
This is different to conscription laws in say, Russia, where every person who holds citizenship must perform 2 years of military service.
To avoid confusion, it's best to differentiate between a draft and conscription.
