You know SKEEA is a crew chief on the Kiowa right? You're going to lose this argument.
And he's right. Helicopters can be armored in quite a few places, but they still have a few chinks in their armor. Like the swashplate. Hell, debris can fuck up the turbine and cause a power loss on some choppers

This thing is kinda delicate

also I believe Mi-24's (or maybe it was the '28's) have a habit of obliterating the tail rotor in dive recoveries, since the main rotor blade bends and lops off the tail rotor. No more torque control, helicopter is now spinner toy
idk I started to believe the russians have some sort of portal to helicopter hell that allows them to bend the laws of physics for their helicopters
I mean they fucking put ejection seats into the KA-50

I think they both look nice.

You do realise in the KA-50 the main rotors are jettisoned before the pilot is right? and thus avoiding a pilot smoothie.

Which is so badass. That is an awesome aircraft
The article says that the deal will include training for aircrews.
And holy shit the glass on these things is rated to take 20mm autocannon rounds.
Little fun fact, did you know that some attack helicopters actually use sapphire windows because they can take an actual beating like it was made for it.
Mi-28s are seriously like the most badass helicopters ever

The KA-50 is about as badass and menacing as it gets.
Also when my dad was a conscript in the USSR Red Army he had the joy of being inside an Mi-24's troop transport area when it fired off its entire payload of rockets.

Source?
Source?
You can pretty much disregard that statement, I can't find a source, I definitely read it somewhere though.

Excuse me, Ka-50 called. He and his younger brother Ka-52 want a word with you.
What difference is there in an export version than what the Russian's would use domestically if any?

Downgraded avionics, weapons systems, pretty much everything.

The Russians also do this with their tanks, which have earned the nickname 'Monkey model'.

What's even cooler is that the "main rotors" are the only rotors on the KA-50; because they spin in opposite directions there's zero net centripetal force on the helicopter, and the body is turned by throttling the speed on one of the two rotors. No need for a tail rotor!
