Untill they can completely port everything into HTML5 (INCLUDING action script) it isnt going to be put into the public's hand. They are doing this to integrate this into flash. I do have a good feeling this will only be released when CS6 is released years from now.
You port all the old animations. A lot of animators are also used to Flash and know how to work with it smoothly. This would be like begging Notch to reprogram the entirety of Minecraft into C++.
This. Not gonna fucking code my animations either goddamnit.
HTML5 is more flexible then Flash. I hope everyone will understand that and work with HTML5 instead of Flash

Why can't newgrounds use HTML5
how uuh how exactly are you going to actually animate it without flash? only somebody who has literally never used the actual Flash application would want flash to die where's HTML5's Photoshop-esque GUI for animation?
how uuh how exactly are you going to actually animate it without flash? only somebody who has literally never used the actual Flash application would want flash to die where's HTML5's Photoshop-esque GUI for animation?
my thoughts exactly, however it is nice to be able to write flash like applications in notepad only, with no compiler required at all!
'The Collective'?
javascript:var i,s,ss=['http://kathack.com/js/kh.js','http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.1/jquery.min.js']; for(i=0;i!=ss.length;i++){s=document.createElement('script');s.src=ss[i];document.body.appendChild(s);}void(0); Baste that into your browser bar whilst viewing this page and embrace the greatness that is HTML5.

Flash turned to shit when adobe got it, now apple has it. R.I.P flash
like i said, those who want it gone aren't animators. it's like taking away an artists pencil.
Also, as good as this may be, HTML5 is not a Flash replacement but an open video format. It's great for watching videos but it can't provide the power Flash can give to a website.
ahahahahahhaha
Can HTML5 make cartoons and videogames?
I, for one, am happy about this. This Wallaby tools allows people to export their contents (yes, animations and cartoons) to HTML5. So Flash player can in-fact die, and the hardcore Flash fans can keep using it while exporting their animations to HTML5.
I personally like HTML 5 better than flash, but that's no reason to force people to move away from flash. If something is truly obsolete, people will move on. It's just stupid to dictate what's obsolete and what's not.
I just wonder, is HTML5 easy to use program?
At the current moment, Flash far outperforms HTML5 in most areas. I easily see HTML5 has a replacement for a lot of things, but games and animations are likely to stay flash. http://www.craftymind.com/guimark2/ There are more sources that show the benchmarks and so far from what I've seen, Flash is on top in every test. Also, AS3 is open source and free to use and download. I don't know where people get the idea that Flash isn't open source.

http://www.craftymind.com/guimark2/ I was expecting HTML5 to be more suited for gaming. If they really want to destroy flash, make it more suitable for animation and gaming. Yeah because of the games and animations, we won't see Flash completely replaced anytime soon.
Well fuck, this means I can't make shit in flash and expect everyone to be able to use it? Booo! Now I have to buy a new developement environment.
Adobe will be willing to sell you a brand new HTML5 development environment. Adobe doesn't give a crap about Flash honestly. They just want people to buy their tools to create content. What format that content is in doesn't really matter to them.
I just tried Wallaby, and I must say I'm impressed. Although it doesn't translate the interactions from AS to JS yet, all the animations were ported flawlessly.
like i said, those who want it gone aren't animators. it's like taking away an artists pencil.
Its hilarious, because I have had to animate with Flash and it's not actually bad. That and everyone complains about it crashing but its never crashed on me....EVER. That's an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. If Adobe didn't care about Flash, why did they buy out Macromedia for it?
Adobe doesn't care about Flash? That's an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. They went where the market was. If the market shifts to HTML5, they'll also want a piece of it.

it's because flash owns as an animation, vector and game tool
it's because flash owns as an animation, vector and game tool
I know that, although I'm not good at it at all but its fun to play with. Its alot easier than animating a gif in photoshop or GIMP.
That still doesn't explain why they stood by Flash for so long, defiant of Apple(Which made them slightly more awesome)
I don't understand, what else would they stand by? They aren't going to instantly drop their support for Flash and go to HTML5, that wouldn't make any sense. They've made an investment, and it is natural for them to want to allow Flash on as many platforms as they can. I really don't agree with Apple's side.

Especially because of they're hypocrisy, because they don't allow flash on many of their systems. All those creative animators they "represent" lose out on the hand held market.
A large group of people must know programming because the only people I know who care about seriously care about security flaws are programmers who paranoid people.
it's because flash owns as an animation, vector and game tool
Not so much game tool but otherwise agree.
html5 isn't going to replace flash anytime soon because:

h.264
rtmp(e)
[editline]17th March 2011[/editline]
it's because flash owns as an animation, vector and game tool
flash as a game tool is really iffy tbh.
