Flash is still useful for certain things, such as creating games and circumventing the more complex limits of HTML. The biggest problem is the assholes who create entire websites with it or use it as a substitute for web standards.
Plus I and many others paid out the ass to get their SDK so if they kill it off there will be backlash.
I would love to see HTML5 handle webcam streaming clients like ChatRoulette.
Oh thats right, it can't.
like i said, those who want it gone aren't animators. it's like taking away an artists pencil.
you act as if animation tools can't be made for html5
At the current moment, Flash far outperforms HTML5 in most areas. I easily see HTML5 has a replacement for a lot of things, but games and animations are likely to stay flash.

There are more sources that show the benchmarks and so far from what I've seen, Flash is on top in every test.
Also, AS3 is open source and free to use and download. I don't know where people get the idea that Flash isn't open source.
Flash player isn't open source, which is a problem because Flash on linux is garbage
Security flaws in Flash? Is it THAT big of a deal? Correct me if I'm mistaken, but places such as banks or other various money/personal information necessary websites don't use Flash applets to control that.

They mean personal computers and its a joke really. Its the same argument leveled at Java as a programming language. There are "secruity holes" that can be "easily exploited" and yet they never specify but they say its there. I'm a n00b at programming and I'll admit it, but I wish I could call bullshit on them.

Its garbage on Mac as well. Unlike what many people say, Adobe has been trying to fix it for years and have had relative successes but its still iffy.
Adobe doesn't care about Flash? That's an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. If Adobe didn't care about Flash, why did they buy out Macromedia for it?
They make money off the Flash creation tool. In order to make Flash animations you have to buy the software from Adobe. If the web moves on to HTML5 stuff, they'll just make a tool to create HTML5 content and sell that. And HTML5 doesn't completely replace Flash for certain things like Flash games, so they could sell both tools at the same time.
