Rumor: Intel Skylake K series CPUs won't come with a stock cooler
what the fuck, is your computer a nuclear reactor? That thing is monstrous.
It's quiet and cool as fuck though. The fins fit a 120mm fan(s) perfectly.

Also I misspoke I meant the PURE ROCK not the Shadow Rock.
yes
Good, this looks a lot better anyway:
jesus
as if it wasn't embarrassing enough to have the word "gaming" written on shit
"V8 GTS" just took it to a whole new level

Here's the official guide.

Am I the only one who is using the stock cooler with a K CPU and is satisfied? It never gets warm or loud for me.
The important question here is, will they actually reduce the retail price of those CPUs by ~10€ or will it just drive Intel's profit margins a bit higher?

ok
how high is your vcore and multiplier
Noctua cpu cooler master race

I'm obviously not going to overclock with a stock cooler, and I have frankly never needed to do so.
Perhaps the requirement of a separate cooler with Skylake will add an extra reason to consider overclocking, so I don't mind this change.

Nah, EK/XSPC master race.

but I don't understand, why would you pay the premium for a K chip and a K mobo to not overclock?

I grabbed them both when they were on sale, it was very cheap.

Noctua Coolers are so-and-so.
They have high quality fans though, but they're all 'cream white & shit brown' color themed, what's wrong with black?.
What's the bet they get rid of the cooler and the price stays ridiculous

The coolers themselves cost under 20$ to mass produce.
Now all they need to do is stop using terrible cheapo grade thermal paste that isn't even applied correctly under the lids.

I'd get them if they weren't ugly as sin. They look like a 90s era white PC that's been in a smoker's cigar room the past 20 years.

The TIM isn't the problem, it's the uneven glue used to secure the lids to the processor

Looked at some pics and holy shit, I'd only use these if I had a closed casket PC.

I don't know about you but I don't really care what the inside of my PC looks like.

They are some of the top performing air coolers though

riiiight.

Neither do it, but I still need fans at the rear of my computer, and I slice away that restrictive perforated steel that's a horrible excuse for a fanguard in exchange for one of these:

And then the turd brown fanblades stick out like a sore thumb.

Is flat black too much to ask for?
They do have black ones now though? They've already got a couple models and are rolling out more in black/grey. But I generally don't bother with expensive high airflow fans. My fan budget is for nice static pressure ones.

There's basically no price difference between non-K and K processors, and you can find fairly cheap Z97/current chipset motherboards.
I also only overclock when things become too advanced for the processor, I find it completely pointless to overclock if I won't notice any difference anyway

I did end up snatching a bulk load of Yate Loons of the same type originally used for cooling power supplies.
Hook 'em up to a variable fan controller or do the 7-volt trick, and they're quiet.
I'm just dumbfounded by the fact that in a area where visual design has such a big importance that they still went with cream white frame and brown blades, it's the worst color choices from the 80's combined.

Yeah, and yate loons are really good budget fans. I picked up some noiseblocker eloop ones for my new radiators.
[editline]28th June 2015[/editline]
$100 for the 6 though, and I might pick up 6 more for push/pull config
I use the stock cooler on my 3570 because the cooler master evo doesn't fit in my case because its so fucking big so I think this is a stupid move.
Then look at compatibility before you buy a cooler?
