This doesn't look so shit in my memories :(
because the author doesn't force AA.
personally I thought Vietnam sucked
It was cool but it was nowhere near as good as 1942, and to me it was just a little bland
BF2 was my favourite
I have every single battlefield, and the best one is between this and the second
Still waiting for the next Battlefield game to have big ass maps and controllable ships and big ass cargo planes because why not.
aww man this game was the shit.
I'm proud to say I've owned every Battlefield game, apart from 1943.
OMFG the nostalgia! Back then I used to play BF1942 and MOH like crazy!
We should get a server up and play some 42 together
Absolutely! Though I don't know where all my discs ended up... I borrowed lots of games to people I don't see anymore :/
My dad introduced me to this game back when the multiplayer demo came out.
His clan went on to host the most popular Desert Combat server. Worldwide. I'm proud that I can say that.
holy shit. the memories

Does anyone else remember how hordes of bots would spawn on the carrier in Midway, then sprint down the deck, parachute off, swim to the destroyer and take the LCVPs? :v:
Just came back from a LAN party where we played Battlefield 1942 all night long :smug:
2142/BF2 PR are my current favourites of the BF series, but I'll never forget the time I wasted playing 1942
I really loved 2142, but its lost its appeal in a way.
BF2 PR though is always a blast if you got 6-8 hours to spare and have a good mic and just want to sit down and go all out on tactics.
BF 1942 taught me how to land planes. It was my first flight simulator.
PR taught me how to use a grid map, and how to use a compass to communicate with jets to walk in a air strike on a enemy FOB.
I remember reading about BF1942. There was huge hype over it, and clans were made well before the game even came out.
The first clan I joined was called Gamer's Coalition. We were a group formed from a forum community. The next clan I believe was called Blitzjager...
I bought 1942 launch day. Prior to that I played the demo nonstop. The demo, for some reason, was buggy for me when it came out. I had no sound, yet the game was so fun I played it anyways. Finally, a patch for the demo came out and fixed my sound issues.
1942 was amazing. I remember all of us 'vets' at the time smiled with glee on Christmas that year. Because there was an invasion of noobs. They all camped the airstrips and made easy pickings for strafing planes and snipers...
Man....
Battfield Vietnam I joined a clan called .ich. We ended up being the second best clan in one of the ladder leagues.
I played Vietnam for a while but eventually went back to 1942 to play Desert Combat and Forgotten Hope. Ended up joining a clan for DC and played in ladder leagues for them as well.
BF2 came out. We played ladder for that game for a while, same clan I was in for DC. But ladder leagues were getting lame, and we ended up falling apart. I shifted over from BF2 to BF2142. I preferred it more, to be honest.
That was the age of the classics. I hope BF3 delivers the same enjoyment and excitement. I would be anxious to get out of school all day just so I could run home and play BF1942...and I played it nonstop for HOURS.
I have and still do play back and forth on all the games for the mods. But never as much as I used to.
I never played this game. I wasn't on the PC until 2008 unfortunately.
I loved BF 1942 as a kid, even remember getting in trouble with my parents from staying up to 7am on school days. I also remember flying planes under bridges, and bombing a tank so perfectly it made my day. Oh can't forget Desert Combat mod with the C130s omg!

Also got BC2 and BC2Vietnam
I have the same exact collection. BC and BC2 Vietnam are on Steam.
:crying: I miss the good old days.
It's a shame it's not available on steam.
Battle for Midway was the shit.

Nostalgia
Sure is a shame they butchered it on the BF3 trailers
why the fuck would they even do that?
BF1942 was the first game I bought myself, just after I got my own computer. Loved every single second of it. The mod Forgotten Hope made everything even more awesome.
I remember downloading the mp demo and I played it longer than I played most full games. It was great.
Back when I played this it was such a great game, now I only really enjoy playing it with friends over LAN since the online servers are dominated by battlefield series veterans that has been playing it for the last ten years :saddowns:

cause it's modern and modern music is like distorted and shit
idk
In Japan, spamming ENEMY SUBMARINE SPOTTED on desert maps became a meme
I would hate to have that guy on my team.
"[My objective] was to stay alive." At least he had fun, but your objective should be your objective :colbert:
I miss the bots so much. Playing Desert Combat with a few friends against a horde of the bots, mowing them down with tanks was so much fun.
This thread made me start playing BF1942 again. There's a couple of populated servers out there, but nothing too major. We should get a Galactic Conquest game set up some time.
never played it.
Obligatory.

I'm still amazed by this every time I see it.
