If that shit is art, then I'm rich
Last I checked Facepunch hates anime.
That's not anime. That's from Bioshock: Infinite. Also, are you all saying that Andy Warhol's performance art isn't the most artistic thing you've ever seen? I could make prettier things with my ass trust me I've done it
Your bed doesn't have period-blood stained panties like that one does.
What if he has cum-stained boxers?
What happened to please do not touch the art? :v:
Art is different for each person. That piece just appeals to a significantly different crowd. FP is the different crowd in where they see big eyes and tits as art.
I don't see tits as art, but I do see video games as art. Excluding CoD of course. The bioshock series was absolutely beautiful.

To me, art is a talent that you hone and practice over time in an attempt to create one priceless and beautiful piece. I see no value in this rickshack failure.
To me, art is a talent that you hone and practice over time in an attempt to create one priceless and beautiful piece. I see no value in this rickshack failure.
Yeah. Art requires effort from the artist in my opinion.
well thats alot better than some "art" like this:
What art? that's my room...
i didn't give them permission to use my bedroom as an art piece
Sue them [editline]4th November 2011[/editline] This thread gives me an idea: frame a dollar bill and submit it to a museum. It'll show the value of currency and the devalue of the American dollar. brb, do not steal
I like art shit like this. I think it's hilarious. I dunno if it's intentional, but the dadaists (one of the first modern artists) were all tongue and cheek about it.
Sticks too pointy.
To me it just looks like loads of pieces of wood, connected together to make a little tower over a little trough. Art.
Aand here we go again, art is subjective will people please stop acting like there is a definitive defenition of it.
This is horrendously awful, I know you guys can make fun of this art piece all you want, but this was someone's life, their only memory that would last forever was this thing, and some fucking cleaner destroys it, it sucks really hardcore. [editline]4th November 2011[/editline]
To me it just looks like loads of pieces of wood, connected together to make a little tower over a little trough. Art.
It takes a slightly intelligent mind to be able to look past what thing literally is, and see what it means. You seem, and the 54 people that agreed with you, to lack that.
TO ME IT DON'T LOOK ART, ME WANT SMASH ART!!! Just to point out... that's postmodern art.. not modern
well thats alot better than some "art" like this:
tracy emin's bed is actually a brilliant piece of work. it's installation art you can't really experience it with a picture.
I could've made that when I was five just smear paint on some stacked pieces of wood and you have art nowadays.
No you could not have, you need to look under what it literally is, no matter how old you become, how wise you become, you will never be able to capture the look and feel that these art pieces possess. Apparently you cannot even understand them
well thats alot better than some "art" like this:
This piece really moves me. I can't thank the artist enough.
It takes a slightly intelligent mind to be able to look past what thing literally is, and see what it means. You seem, and the 54 people that agreed with you, to lack that.
It takes a slightly less presumptuous mind to look past that supposed meaning and see it for what it really is; pieces of wood that required minimum effort or creativity to create. No matter what meaning you attribute to it that is still what it is.
This piece really moves me. I can't thank the artist enough.
how did it move you, exactly? [editline]4th November 2011[/editline]
It takes a slightly less presumptuous mind to look past that supposed meaning and see it for what it really is; pieces of wood that required minimum effort or creativity to create.
a school is just bricks and cement, humans are just flesh and bone, movies are just quick-moving pictures with sound, music is just sound vibrating. what difference does it make?
Art
a school is just bricks and cement, humans are just flesh and bone, movies are just quick-moving pictures with sound, music is just sound vibrating. what difference does it make?
The composition makes a difference.

[editline]4th November 2011[/editline] a school is just bricks and cement, humans are just flesh and bone, movies are just quick-moving pictures with sound, music is just sound vibrating. what difference does it make?
A school is brick and cement painstakingly put together starting with a simple drawing them a foundation and then months worth of bricklaying and then it was filled with students by organizers. A human body is the interaction of flesh, bone, bacteria, and electricity in a complicated way, so complicated in fact that we have trouble even modelling it. I don't feel like doing the other two but you get my point. You take base elements and make hugely complex shit from them.
The composition makes a difference.
well that's called the fallacy of composition, believing that one whole thing has value simply because one part has value. just because the art work has had 1000 hours of work put into it doesn't mean that the work itself is any good or worthy anything. you have to look at the end product and result, not try to look like a smartass by poking at one thing and saying it took no effort. you don't fucking know much effort it took in the first place. [editline]4th November 2011[/editline]
I don't feel like doing the other two but you get my point. You take base elements and make hugely complex shit from them.
complexity /= good art. a 20 minute prog song with orchestra's and guitars isn't better or more valuable than a 3 minute pop song played on a harp. and just because it's a 2 minute pop played only on a harp doesn't mean it's not valuable or worth something. that's stupid.
That's all art is about, what meaning you attribute to it, you are kidding right?
Good job missing the point by a mile or two. It's about the skill it takes to create it, not whatever deeper meaning it represents. In this case, it took zero effort and skill to create it, which is why people see it as a piece of shit. You know, the original meaning of art was as mastery over something, like painting or sculpturing. And that's the problem with modern art, you don't have to be good at your craft, put any random two pieces of shit together and attribute some meaning to it. Zero effort.
well that's called the fallacy of composition, believing that one whole thing has value simply because one part has value. just because the art work has had 1000 hours of work put into it doesn't mean that the work itself is any good or worthy anything. you have to look at the end product and result, not try to look like a smartass by poking at one thing and saying it took no effort. you don't fucking know much effort it took in the first place.
It's not because any one part has any value, it's because the end product itself is the value of the combined parts. And yes, to me any piece of art that has 1000 hours put into it is worth more than a piece of art that has 2 minutes of work in it. I guess I appreciate honest, hard work. In regards to effort, then in this case it certainly doesn't look like it took a lot of it. Yes, I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
Good job missing the point by a mile or two. It's about the skill it takes to create it
nope not even by a long shot. i bet Styx's albums took ages to make but they are still crappppp.
not whatever deeper meaning it represents.
so in your mind, art is about showing off, not expression.
You know, the original meaning of art as mastery over something, like painting or sculpturing.
oh yeah only the elite higher classes should make art obviously. i mean look at this: yeah sure the original meaning of art was mastery. i mean that's totally bullshit but whatever.
